Chapter 208: Chapter 204: Interstellar Deserted Star Farm Woman 15

"I’ll be back."

Dai Lixing took Ji Xiaosong’s hand, his eyes full of sincerity.

"Okay."

Ji Xiaosong chuckled softly.

"What do you want for lunch today? Name anything. Think of it as a farewell meal."

"Anything you make is delicious."

"Then I’ll just cook one of everything from the vegetable garden. As for meat, I’ll just go find something on the prairie. If you don’t have anything else to do right now, go pick and wash whatever vegetables and fruits you want to eat."

Having assigned him his task, Ji Xiaosong left the courtyard and went on her way.

Once out of Dai Lixing’s sight, she mounted Rongrong.

"Song, when are you planning to erase Dai Lixing’s memories?"

"The moment he leaves. Once he’s far away from Wa Star, his memories will completely disappear."

"What about the things he stored in his Space Button? When he thinks about them in the future, will he remember you?"

"Of course not. I’ll fabricate some memories for him. He probably won’t suspect anything then."

Ji Xiaosong was a little uncertain, but she figured that since she wasn’t leaving Wa Star for the time being, it likely wouldn’t occur to Dai Lixing to return.

After Ji Xiaosong reached the prairie, she spotted a few flocks of sheep. She casually picked two large ones and took care of them with a few bursts of Spiritual Power.

"We’re having whole roasted lamb for lunch today. I haven’t had it in a long time. I’ve really been craving it."

Chatting with Rongrong, Ji Xiaosong quickly returned home.

As soon as she pushed open the courtyard gate, she saw the fruit trees and vegetable plants, which had been picked almost bare.

"Dai Lixing has transferred 100,000,000 Star Coins to your account."

That line of text appeared in her Star Coin savings account again. ’A hundred million... How much can that even buy?’

She thought about the few agricultural robots she had at home—they were very cheap products, costing just over a hundred Star Coins each.

"Xiaosong, I want to buy all your fruits and vegetables. I took the liberty of transferring a hundred million just now. If it’s not enough, I can add something else. Is that okay?"

Ji Xiaosong looked at the stripped-bare fruit trees, the corner of her mouth twitching. Her fingertips brushed against the crooked-necked tomato vine.

The vine suddenly let out a soft RUSTLE. Its withered yellow leaves turned green again at a visible rate, and a few bright red cherry tomatoes sprouted on its branches.

"Xiaosong, is this your spiritual power? Why is it so different?"

Dai Lixing had seen countless people project their spiritual power, but he had never seen anything like Ji Xiaosong’s.

"Maybe it’s because I live on Wa Star. This is my turf, so I’m just more familiar with it."

’I don’t want to lie, but I can hardly say I’m a plant spirit and that’s why I can do this, can I?’

’Besides, spiritual power can be materialized anyway. Just spurring on a plant’s growth is nothing strange.’

’And anyway, Dai Lixing is about to forget me, so it doesn’t matter what I’m like in front of him.’

"We’re having whole roasted lamb for lunch. I’ve already prepared the lamb. You just need to set up a rack."

Dai Lixing quickly found a rack and set up the grill in the center of the courtyard. The moment the flames flared up, the entire yard was bathed in an amber glow.

"What does whole roasted lamb taste like?"

"You’ll know once you try it. Now, I’ll teach you how to roast it. Once you’ve got it down, I have to go make some desserts. That’ll take care of afternoon tea."

Ji Xiaosong lifted a clay pot half her height. The secret spices settled at the bottom glinted with a dark red luster in the sunlight.

She pressed Dai Lixing’s fan-sized palm directly onto the lamb’s belly. "Grip it here with the web of your thumb and press down with your knuckles."

The back of the man’s bronze hand was a stark contrast to the snow-white lambskin. As his sinewy arm moved, the spices slowly seeped into the meat’s texture.

Dai Lixing suddenly grunted, a red mark blooming on his palm where hot oil had scalded him.

Ji Xiaosong snatched a nearby bottle of ice water and tossed it to him. "Pour it on your hand!"

He didn’t say a word. He simply lifted the hem of his undershirt, baring the old scars on his eight-pack, and continued to rub the lamb with his spice-coated hand.

The young woman narrowed her eyes. "I’ll give you this, you’ve got guts."

The charcoal CRACKLED, and sparks flew as the lamb fat dripped onto it.

Ji Xiaosong tossed him a jujube-wood skewer that was a good half-meter long. "Run it through. All the way to the other side."

Dai Lixing caught it one-handed. His arm muscles bulged, and the sharp wooden tip instantly pierced through the entire leg of lamb.

As the rotating grill began to glisten with an amber sheen, Ji Xiaosong suddenly ripped off her apron and threw it into the air.

As the fabric tumbled, she pulled a packet of silver powder from her pocket.

"Now, it’s time for my secret ingredient."

Dai Lixing instinctively moved to shield the grill, but he saw the powder transform into pale blue flames in the heat, rushing upward in a burst of boozy, meaty aroma.

"Try it."

Ji Xiaosong handed him a piece of crispy roasted lamb tail fat.

Dai Lixing bit down on it directly. The moment the fat burst between his teeth, his Adam’s apple bobbed as he let out a low sound of appreciation.

The young woman suddenly pressed her sauce-stained finger to his lips. "Lick it clean for me."

The man raised an eyebrow, lowered his head, and curled his tongue around the sauce, lightly nipping her fingertip in the process.

"So, you’re not always such a stoic, after all," Ji Xiaosong chuckled softly.

As the setting sun dyed the courtyard the color of honey, the roasted aroma of the lamb, laced with the scent of cumin, drifted over the walls.

Ji Xiaosong leaned against the grape trellis, watching Dai Lixing cut the last lamb chop in half.

The man’s fingertips were still slick with grease, glimmering faintly in the twilight.

"I already tried some. I found this is the most tender part of the lamb."

As he handed the meat over, a stream of data flickered across the mechanical watch on his wrist.

Ji Xiaosong noticed it was the countdown for his return vessel: three hours and seventeen minutes remaining.

"Thanks."

As she took the lamb chop, a flicker of loneliness crossed her eyes.

The charcoal suddenly popped, spattering sparks onto the back of Dai Lixing’s hand.

This time he didn’t make a sound, merely staring at a grass seed stuck to the tip of Ji Xiaosong’s hair.

The tiny seed was sprouting in the twilight, its tender green tendrils coiling around her strands of hair.

"It’s going to rain."

Ji Xiaosong looked up at the lead-gray clouds.

This was a rain she had summoned intentionally, both to cover the awkwardness of their parting and to wash away all traces of her presence.

Dai Lixing suddenly stood up and pressed his sauce-stained finger to her lips.

"Well? Want to lick it clean?"

Those were the exact words she had used to tease him earlier.

Ji Xiaosong raised an eyebrow, but the moment she made contact, he pulled her into his arms.

The man’s smoky scent enveloped her. As his tongue swept across her lips, it carried the savory taste of lamb fat mixed with the coolness of mint.

"You..."

Just as Ji Xiaosong was about to lash out, she heard him whisper close to her ear, "Wait for me to come get you..."

Before he could finish, a gust of wind slammed the courtyard gate open. Fat raindrops smashed against the hot grill, sending up plumes of white steam.

Dai Lixing released her and took two steps back, rainwater sliding down his resolute jawline.

Ji Xiaosong saw the Space Button on his chest begin to glow. It was the seed she had secretly slipped inside it—a seed carrying her Spiritual Power, which would trigger the memory wipe as he left.

"Goodbye."

As Dai Lixing turned, his mechanical watch emitted a shrill alarm.

Through the curtain of rain, Ji Xiaosong watched his back grow blurry until the last trace of his figure vanished over the horizon.

She looked down at her palm. In it lay half a lamb rib, and on the inner side of the bone was a tiny, carved line of text: *Do not forget me.*

The rain fell harder and harder. Ji Xiaosong suddenly laughed out loud.

Her fingertips traced the vine tattoo on her skin, watching the rain gather into rivulets.

Those seeds would take root and sprout within the man’s body, making him forget everything he wasn’t supposed to remember.

But she would forever remember this rain-soaked twilight, and that smoky kiss.
