“Ufufufu~ I don’t think I would ever get tired of watching my little one eat her sweets~”
“Hmmm~ Neither do I. I think it should be a national treasure at this point.”
Hmm? I think I heard Mother and Justinia saying something but I was too busy enjoying the sweets to listen.
Right now, they were surrounding me as I ate the sweets, using their figures to block me from being seen by the people that were still in the party.
Of course, despite what happened earlier, the event was still in full swing. The only good thing was that the merchants and nobles were leaving us alone for now.
I guess it should be normal considering what I just did to three of their colleagues.
Right now, I guess it would look like the King, my Mother and I were discussing what just happened with each other.
Well, I don’t really care about that as long as I get my sweets~
I was busy licking my fingers clean of the sweets as Mother turned to Justinia, her eyes narrowing slightly.
“Speaking of which, how did something like this happen under your watch, little Justi?”
I noticed Justinia tensing up slightly before she turned towards Mother with a forced smile, “Ahem… I have to admit… I was aware that they were involved with some illegal slavers but I was not aware that they would be planning something this big.”
“Ara, ara? Little Justi is fine with them engaging with illegal slavers?”
“Please don’t act like this is the first time you heard of this, Madam Nilm… They might be problems but they still have their uses.”
“Ufufufu~ That is true~ But I suppose you need to improve your intelligence network and keep a better eye on your nobles~”
“Noted, Madam Nilm…”
Katsuki came up and wiped my mouth with a handkerchief as soon as I finished cleaning up my sweets.
Mother then giggled at me, “Ufufufu~ Mama needs to go back to work now, my little one~ Would you be alright on your own?”
I pouted at Mother, “Mommy… I’m not a child anymore… I can take care of myself just fine.”
“Ufufufu~ You will always be my little one, my cutest child~”
Mother then turned back towards the party and rejoined it with Mary following behind her.
Justinia smiled at me, “I will have to apologise for allowing this to happen to begin with, Aster. I hope you can enjoy the rest of the party.”
She also followed Mother back to join the event again with Queen Levianne, the Queen winking at me as she walked off.
Seeing both Mother and the King return to the crowd, the merchants and nobles started approaching them again to restart their business negotiations.
As for me… I didn’t exactly have any plans to join the event since it wasn’t like I had any business deals that I could make with people anyway.
But unfortunately, the others didn’t think so.
“Lady Nilm? Allow me to introduce myse–”
“Ahem, Lady Nilm, please grant me some of your tim–”
“Lady Nilm, may I introduce you to–”
“Lady Nilm, I have to admit that show was quite astound–”
“Good evening, Lady Nilm, could I ask for a favour from–”
“Please step on me, Lady Nilm…”
Several people immediately crowded around me and I was faced with a barrage of questions all around me.
They moved so quickly that these people might as well have appeared from thin air.
Fortunately, I managed to maintain my cool instead of freaking out so I managed to address them with a small smile.
“Good evening. I’m afraid I can’t answer so many questions all at once. If you are looking to do business with the Nilm Family, I’m afraid that I am not in a position to decide anything for my family at this point in time. You would have a better time talking to my Mother instead.”
A few of the merchants heard what I said and immediately excused themselves politely, moving towards Mother’s direction instead.
I then turned to the ones remaining, “I will also have to say that I am currently not interested in any marriage proposals so I’m afraid I will have to reject any and all of such proposals as well. Additionally, I am not interested in males.”
A few more then politely excused themselves and apologised for troubling me, leaving me with about half of the crowd remaining.
“If you are also hoping for me to personally invest in several businesses, I will have to tell all of you that I do not actually have much in the way of personal assets that I can use to invest in anything.”
More of them also quickly apologised for wasting my time and walked off.
I then turned to the remaining group and gave them a serious look, “I will also not be stepping on anyone.”
At least half of them fell to the ground.
“Nooo!! Please, Lady Nilm! Just a little bit!!”
“If no stepping… How about letting us kiss your feet at least?!”
“Please, Lady Nilm! Just the tip will do!!”
“No,” I rejected mercilessly.
The group who most definitely wanted me to step on them cried before getting up to retreat from me, leaving only just a small group of people remaining.
I turned to them, “Alright… I suppose I can hear what you guys want.”
One of them, a woman with blonde hair and wearing a tight green dress, approached me with a dazzling smile on her face.
“Lady Nilm… I represent a group of people who are interested in getting to know you. Would you like to hear us out?”
Looking at how the others behind her flock around her, I would assume that they were all accompanying this woman.
I frowned, “What is this about?”
“We are a group that focuses on ensuring the status quo of the World is maintained and I believe you would be a perfect addition to our group. We have resources that you might find useful in case you meet with a problem like this again and we wish to help you.”
I blinked at her and I blurted out the first thing that came to mind.
“Are you guys a cult?”
Fortunately, she didn’t seem insulted by that and merely smiled, “I suppose from an outsider’s perspective, we might as well be. If Lady Nilm is not aware, problems have been arising within our World that have greatly changed the balance and are now threatening our way of life. We are just a group that was formed to try and counter that. If you are interested, please look for us and present the thing inside the envelope there.”
She pulled out a sealed envelope as well as a folded piece of paper from in between her boobs to hand it over to me.
Without waiting for an answer, she curtsied before walking off, the rest of her group following after her without a sound.
Ok… That was incredibly weird to say the least… What was that about?
I opened the folded piece of paper to see that it was a map that showed the Commoner’s District with a circle drawn over one of the buildings and the landmarks clearly noted to tell me where this place was.
When I opened the envelope, a small pendant dropped out into my palm which looked like it was some kind of white crystal that was dangling inside a metal circle.
I frowned at it before turning to Katsuki and showing the pendant to her.
She didn’t need me to ask what it was before she volunteered the information to me.
“Mistress… They’re known as the Erednay Purists… There have been some people who have realised that Off-Worlders have arrived in our World and… To be frank, there are quite a number who did not bother hiding their identities and have been making trouble. Most have been disregarded as just troublemakers or deranged lunatics, but some were taken seriously due to what they do.”
I sucked in a breath, “Don’t tell me… These people want to remove them?”
She nodded, “They have formed a group to hunt down Off-Worlders though at this moment, there are still fragmented groups as they cannot decide on what they should do with Off-Worlders. Some believe that they just need to help educate them and integrate them into our World. Others want the more… Permanent kind of solution where they would just kill the Off-Worlder. There’s also a third group who advocate on cataloguing and observing the Off-Worlders and a fourth group who believe that Off-Worlders are the Gods’ gift to Erednay as a new form of evolution for us. I am currently unsure of which group those people belong to. Shall I go find out?”
Wait, wait… You just listed out some crazy stuff, Katsuki… What the heck has been going on behind the scenes?!
