Chapter 241: Bunnygirl’s Initiation

Olivia bowed to me, "My Lord. If there is anything you wish to change, please let me know."

I took a look at the list that Olivia had given me which detailed the rifts in the region and the schedule of assigning my Guardians to accompany the Vanguards to deal with them.

They really weren’t wasting time huh? They have already scheduled my Guardians to be assigned to be split up into several teams of two to head out to different countries starting from next week.

Having them as a pair was actually already pretty luxurious since most Mortal Gods would only send one Guardian per rift as support for the country’s Vanguards.

The reason why we’re even sending a pair is to first establish our presence since we were a late entrant to this rift clearing business.

That... And also because this would be their first time handling these jobs as Guardians so we all agreed that it would be better if they had gone on these assignments with someone to back them up instead of being just sent alone.

Maybe after they get more experience, they could be sent on these expeditions alone.

Thus, we had four pairs of Guardians that we could send out on these expeditions, not counting Olivia since she’s basically the overseer here.

She did mention having plans to train an assistant that could also assist her in doing her administrative tasks so that she could join these expeditions too.

I didn’t forget that her whole motivation in joining me was to be able to fight on the battlefield instead of sitting behind a desk so I didn’t stop her and even helped her relieve some of that stress through our sparring sessions which was starting to become a routine.

As for me, I could choose if I wanted to join them of course, but it wasn’t necessary for me to do so since the rifts they were going to take care of were only in the low Danger Class levels of one or two, something that they could easily take care of even without me.

They would still keep at least two Guardians here with me on rotation of course, which was still part of the standing order that Olivia had made where I would not be allowed to go anywhere alone as the Mortal God.

For the next week, it seems like I would be left with Kris and Dan to accompany me here while the rest would be dispatched to their expeditions.

There was one other thing I had to do though...

"I don’t see a problem with this schedule so we can go ahead with it. Are the others ok with this arrangement and pairing?" I asked, placing the schedule she presented me down on the table.

She nodded, "Yes, my Lord. All of them picked their own partners for the expeditions so it should not be a problem. Besides, most of these are not clearing expeditions and merely just mining expeditions where they are looking to clear out mining spots."

I nodded, "That’s good then. Last thing we need is for them to be put in a position where they can’t stand their own partners."

Olivia straightened herself, "I do not believe we have reached a point where our own members are hostile to each other, my Lord. But I will keep that in mind."

"Right... And our next order of business?"

She gestured towards the door, "If you are available, my Lord... There is one person awaiting your initiation right now."

I nodded and stood up.

Yep.... This is the other thing I have to do.

But instead of going through the door, I materialised my teleportation door and stepped through it, allowing Olivia to follow behind me before I let the door close.

We appeared in the same room where I did the initiation ceremony with Dan, Valletta and Lilliac, though this time the room was empty aside from just Olivia and myself.

We could have done this with all the same fanfare as before but both myself and the person receiving the initiation didn’t want to make too big of a deal out of it but Olivia insisted that we at least made it official by having it take place in this room.

Thus, I took my place on the throne and Olivia went towards the door to let them in.

The door opened and Maylene peeked inside, as though unsure if she was supposed to enter or not.

Seeing Olivia standing there and giving her a nod, the bunny girl skipped into the room and stopped a few steps away from me, her ears twitching in clear nervousness as she sank down to a knee to kneel.

Olivia returned to my side, "My Lord. May I present to you your newest Guardian, Maylene Rhodes of the Rhodes Bunarf family, specialising in material size manipulation and enhanced speed."

I stood up and walked towards her, remembering the process as I stood in front of her and offered the back of my hand.

I had to bend down lower for her to be able to reach me since there was quite a big difference in our heights.

Nevertheless, she took my hand in hers and brought my hand up to place her lips on my knuckles as a sign of fealty.

I noted that she held the kiss for a little longer than necessary, even after the flow of energy between us had completed.

I returned to my throne and Olivia allowed her to rise, the bunny girl hopping up to her feet and looking down at herself for a moment like she was expecting something to change but only found that nothing was different about her.

She looked back up at me and giggled, "It tingles a little, Qing."

I relaxed, "Well... I guess that’s the feeling of my divinity or something setting in on you."

She then came over to me, climbing up on the throne’s armrest to be at eye level with me.

"So you got my abilities as well right? Let’s see it! Let’s see it!"

Olivia, instead of reprimanding Maylene for climbing on the throne, also leaned over to me as I summoned my book.

The pages flipped open until it stopped to show a picture of Maylene and it even put her in a bunny outfit doing a cute pose while looking at me.

There was only one problem though...

The Maylene in the book had... Umm... A very generous chest and behind... Something that the shortstack Maylene definitely has, of course...

But the Maylene in the book also had really long legs and she looked like she would at least be as tall as me or even taller if she was real.

I blinked at the picture.

Olivia blinked at the picture.

Both of us turned to Maylene who, for some reason, had her face turned beet red when she saw that picture of her.

I opened my mouth, "May--"

"Waahhhh!! It’s nothing!!! Don’t assssskkkkk!!" She screamed, her figure suddenly disappearing and running away from me.

Either because of the new ability I gained from her or because I got stronger overall, I could actually see her running away and opening the door before leaving the room instead of just being a blur like before.

Olivia blinked at the place where Maylene had been occupying before turning to me, "What happened, my Lord?"

I shrugged, "I’m just as lost as you are. Why does she look... Different though?"

I flipped through the pages, checking the entries on each of my Guardians to see if they all looked like their counterparts.

"Everyone looks the same but Maylene’s look different? Wait... Don’t tell me they’re all actually children all this while and this is her adult form?!"

Olivia shook her head, "That is not possible, my Lord. They are all adults, I have confirmed it. And I have also confirmed that their current bodies are definitely in their adult stage of development. I am not sure why Miss Maylene would have such a reaction to this picture of her."

"Hmm... My other guess is that the book shows what the person’s ’perfect look’ would look like? So their desires are imprinted on the book?" I suggested, looking back at the picture. "Maybe Maylene secretly wants to look like this?"

"Perhaps... But I don’t think she would have this big of a reaction for you to see something like that, my Lord..."

That is true... In that case, I wonder why she would react like that?

Well... I guess I’ll give her time to calm down before I try to broach the topic again... Or maybe I can even find her sisters to find out about this.

On another note, I should have gained Maylene’s powers over increased speed and also compressing objects into smaller sizes as well. The first one would definitely be useful but the last one’s definitely pretty cool.

I could just carry around big stuff in my pockets and then bring them out to use against Anomalies or just to make my life easier as well.

The only question is how far I can shrink these objects?
