Chapter 541 - 297: Go to Hell Together! (Part 1)

The gash torn in Elder Pence’s chest began to heal rapidly, but Baron took the opportunity to ignite the Silver Flame within it. The flame didn’t touch the flesh, yet it stopped the wound from mending.

From a distance, the ball of Silver Flame looked like Elder Pence’s beating heart.

At the same time, no one noticed dark blood beneath the Silver Flame slithering like small snakes into Elder Pence’s chest.

"Does being Silver Tier absolve one of sin?" Baron said softly.

His face, stained crimson with blood, was cast in the glow of the Silver Flame, taking on the same golden hue as his brilliant, shimmering Golden Eyes.

He looked at the blood-soaked Elder Pence, whose expression had soured, and said calmly, "If one’s power means their sins don’t have to be repaid, are they even sins at all?"

"You said I’m going to Hell?"

A smile suddenly appeared on the Dragon Knight’s face, but under the circumstances, it was merely unnerving and utterly terrifying.

The onlookers shivered violently. To them, the Dragon Knight now looked like a vengeful specter, ready to devour anyone in his path.

Elder Pence’s confidence wavered beneath that smile. He said in a low voice, "Constantine, you should consider my offer. You have to understand what you’re doing... You can’t kill me! And even if you could, what good would it do you?"

’As a Silver Tier, I shouldn’t feel fear,’ he thought. ’The Dragon Knight lacks any effective way to harm me.’ And yet, his intuition as a Silver Knight screamed that the Dragon Knight posed a great, possibly fatal, threat.

At that moment, the Lion-eyed Knights drew near. The foremost among them was already swinging his sword at the two.

A gleam flashed in Elder Pence’s eyes. ’Faced with their attack,’ he thought, ’Baron will have to stop.’

But what happened next defied everyone’s expectations, causing the advancing Law Enforcers to halt and leaving the onlookers utterly dumbfounded, frozen in place.

The Lion-eyed Knights’ swords struck Elder Pence with pinpoint accuracy.

Elder Pence looked at the Lion-eyed Knights in disbelief.

But before he could voice his question, the Lion-eyed Knights began to thrust their swords into him, one after another, all through the same wound.

The physical defense of a Silver Knight was far too strong for Knights of their Tier to breach as the Dragon Knight had. Thus, with a silent, mutual understanding, the Lion-eyed Knights came up with this method. It was like water wearing away stone; the gradually expanding wound was like a stubborn rock being chiseled open for the crowd to see.

The scene resembled an ancient pre-battle ritual. Each time a Lion-eyed Knight widened the wound, even by a fraction, he would then plant his sword in the ground as if in tribute.

Everyone present knew what—or who—they were paying tribute to. Celestial Horse Yisur had the Templar Knights salute the brave Lion-eyed Knights in a show of respect, making its own stance on the matter perfectly clear.

The Griffin Knights were clearly stunned by the scene, looking lost. They seemed unsure whether they should rush to save Elder Pence or join in the salute.

"There’s an old saying from the East: ’A just cause will have many supporters, while an unjust one will have few.’ Looks like that old geezer Daoist Zhou knew what he was talking about after all," Paperman Lucy quipped, poking her head out of Isabella’s hair again.

The Lancelot Family Head had wanted to intervene at first, but he fell silent when he saw the Lion-eyed Knights—and even members of his own family—step forward to land a blow on Elder Pence.

"Let this be atonement for our commander."

After saying this, the last Lion-eyed Knight, Aile Lancelot, planted his sword in the ground and walked away without a backward glance.

As Aile left, he saw Zick Frank a short distance away. Zick flipped him off, and Aile grinned. But then Zick gave him a thumbs-up—the highest of compliments between boys, a gesture that said, ’You’re really something.’

By now, the wound on Elder Pence’s back was a finger’s breadth deep. The body of a Silver Tier was monstrously resilient, and there were few Bronze Tiers among the Lion-eyed Knights. This was the most damage they could inflict, even with their combined efforts.

But this also served as a testament to what a monster the Dragon Knight was. He, a mere Bronze Tier, had torn open the chest of a Silver Tier Golden Lion Knight using the Dragon Claw from his Contractual Assimilation.

The entire area fell into a deathly silence. It was clear that the crowd was stunned by the Lion-eyed Knights’ actions.

For a moment, all the Law Enforcers who had drawn their swords at their family elders’ commands were lost in a stupor.

Elder Pence’s face was ashen. With a strained expression, he ground out through clenched teeth, "You... All of you..."

His chest heaved, but the vicious retort on the tip of his tongue died before he could speak it.

Because the Dragon Knight turned to him. "Elder Pence... what was that you were saying about Hell?"

Elder Pence was finally, truly afraid.

Elder Pence said, "Constantine, don’t you want to know everything about the Dragon Witch? I can tell you... Let’s make a deal... Just like I offered before... A deal!"

But Baron shook his head. "She’s already dead. I have no need to concern myself with the affairs of the dead."

"The Dragon Witch is a Silver Tier. Do you really think a Silver Tier Law Enforcer could be killed that easily by you?"

Elder Pence said, "She reached the Silver Tier decades ago. Do you really think a single Alchemy Bullet could kill a Witch that even the Golden Wizard Newton couldn’t catch?"
