Chapter 538 295: Golden Lion
The Law Enforcers were stunned for a moment, then flew into a rage. "You Lawbreaker! How dare you speak so brazenly!"
"It was just a fluke that you slipped away before. We won't let you run this time!"
Facing the Law Enforcers' curses and hostility, Baron Constantin simply offered a mocking smile.
"Nothing but the yapping of dogs. Is this how you cowards just stand by and watch the Cultists from the Dragon Eater Association commit crimes right under your noses?"
"You call yourselves allies of justice, but the only things you do are acts that outrage gods and men. Now the leader of the Dragon Eater Association is standing right before you, yet you're all playing deaf and dumb, pretending not to see..."
He planted his Golden Dragon Spear in the ground and whipped out two Spear Swords, their blades aimed at Elder Pence. He all but roared:
"He has Anthony's face! Tell me! Where is his Judgement! Where is it!"
A dead silence fell over the entire scene.
Baron gave a silent, cold laugh.
"Baron Constantin!" a Dragon Demon Hunter suddenly pushed himself up from his wheelchair and yelled. "No matter what you say to provoke us, we will not help you deal with Elder Pence! Get that idea out of your head!"
"Deal with Elder Pence?" A mocking expression crossed Baron's face as flames ignited on his two blades. "You've misunderstood me. I was just saying you're all cowards..."
At that moment, Elder Pence snatched the sword from a nearby Griffin Knight and charged.
"But I'm not."
For a split second, Baron Constantin's Golden Eye turned blood-red. Elder Pence's body froze, and in that fleeting moment, the Dragon Knight seized the opportunity, plunging a Fire Blade into the Elder's chest.
"It's useless..." Elder Pence had just said this when he coughed up a mouthful of blood in disbelief.
The Fire Blade had pierced him beneath the ribs.
To be precise, it wasn't a Fire Blade.
The Dragon Knight had withdrawn his Dragon Flame the instant he attacked, and Elder Pence had never been wounded by this kind of attack before.
The surrounding Law Enforcers gasped, clearly stunned by the Dragon Knight's combat instincts.
Abraham glanced at the Demon Hunters beside him with great interest. "What do you think your chances would be against a Dragon Knight?"
Dewey and Gold considered it seriously. Adam said, "Fifty-fifty, I'd say. If he doesn't use that strange Dragon Flame, and I use my Old Blood."
The other Demon Hunters were silent.
Abraham smiled and exhaled a wisp of smoke. "A pity. The gap between the Silver Tier and the Bronze Tier is far greater than this Dragon Knight imagines."
Over on the battlefield, Baron, despite having landed a successful blow, didn't look relieved. His expression was heavy.
He saw the corners of Elder Pence's mouth slowly curl up at him, as if in a sneer.
His instincts screamed danger, but he couldn't tell from where.
Until a sword pierced through him from behind.
He reacted in a flash, twisting aside, but the blade still pierced his left arm. When he spun around into a fighting stance, he saw the figure of the Elder Pence he had just run through dissolve like a foam bubble.
Five identical Elder Pences appeared before him.
[Promise: Group of Lions Illusion]
But that wasn't all. The five Elder Pences let out a Lion's Roar that shook Baron to his core. Simultaneously, a transparent golden Domain expanded from the Elder's feet, enveloping both him and Baron like a massive, overturned bowl.
"This is..." Baron's expression was grave.
"The Domain of a Silver Tier Knight," Elder Pence said with a snap of his fingers. "Within this Domain, no one can interfere with our battle without my permission, or unless a High Tier being intervenes."
"And it's all thanks to you," Elder Pence transmitted telepathically. "Without your Dragon Spear, I might not have been able to use this power just yet."
"So, as a special token of my gratitude, I will have you die in the most agonizing way imaginable, right before everyone's eyes."
"Let's see how long you can struggle."
A vicious glint flashed in Elder Pence's eyes, and then they swarmed him. The battle was fierce, but the Dragon Knight was quickly overwhelmed, pinned to the ground by five swords piercing his torso, hands, and feet.
"Legend says that drinking the blood of a Dragon Knight can purify one's Divine Soul. Let me test if that legend is true."
Then, to Baron's astonishment, Pence used a knife to slit his wrist, caught a handful of the flowing blood in his palm, and drank it. And then—
Isabella charged forward, Red Spear in hand, but no matter how she attacked, she couldn't have any real effect on the Domain.
Just as Elder Pence had said, a Silver Knight's Domain could not be broken by someone of the Bronze Tier unless the Knight himself willingly dispelled it or a being of a higher tier intervened.
Of course, there were other methods, such as another Knight of the same tier overwriting it with their own Domain, or a Wizard of the same tier using an Alchemy Array to counter it.
And among the Silver Knights present, besides Elder Pence and Silver Lion Wilder, there was only Celestial Horse Yisur.
But Celestial Horse Yisur showed no sign of intervening, clearly content to watch the battle from the sidelines.
Beyond them... Freya's eyes darted to the Lancelot Patriarch. Even though this former leader of the Lion Eye Knight Order and Silver Knight was no longer in his prime due to the corrosion of the Old Blood, Freya believed he still had the power to open his Domain.
"Father! See? It's just as I said! Elder Pence is the one who hurt Brother! He possesses Brother's power! Baron Constantin was never the one who killed him! This is a conspiracy!"
Freya pleaded, "We have to make Elder Pence pay! Help Baron Constantin kill him!"
The Lancelot Patriarch's gaze flickered across Elder Pence's face. After a moment of silence, he said, "Freya, Anthony... is dead, after all."
Freya stared in disbelief. "But..."
"There are no buts, Freya," the Lancelot Patriarch said. "Constantin was doomed from the start. We already lost once with Anthony; we cannot afford to lose again."
"But... Anthony... Wasn't Anthony also..."
"I know Anthony was my son..." said the Lancelot Patriarch, "but he is dead. And the Lancelot Clan needs a new Golden Lion Knight, and the Lion Eye Knight Order needs a new Golden Lion Captain."
He transmitted telepathically to his daughter: "Without a Golden Lion Knight's permission, we cannot get near the Golden Lion. Only Elder Pence is qualified to open that gate! The Lancelot Family needs him!"
"Would the Lancelot Family need a Lawbreaker who killed the Patriarch's heir?!"
"Freya! You need to remember that you are a daughter of the Lancelot Family! Everything you have was given to you by the family!"
Seeing the tears on his daughter's face, his tone softened again. "But I promise you, Freya. Once the next Golden Lion Knight is chosen... I promise you, the Lancelot Family will kill Elder Pence at any cost!!!"
Freya looked at her father as if he were a stranger. Her teeth chattered, and a bone-deep cold and exhaustion washed over her, as if all the rain in the world were pouring down on her alone.
"Elder Pence... is it true?"
Someone suddenly asked in a daze.
Everyone looked in the direction of the voice. It was the eldest son of the Hestia Family, the vice-commander of the Griffin Knight Order, the Bronze Griffin Knight Jill Hestia.
Covered in wounds, he descended from the sky on his Griffin, pushing away the Griffin Knights who tried to support him. His eyes were fixed on the Elder Pence inside the Domain.
Jill's expression was conflicted as he spoke. "Is it true? Anthony... did you kill him...? And are you a Cultist of the Dragon Eater Association...?"
"Silence, Jill! Do you have any idea what you're saying!?" Elder Pence suddenly roared in fury. "I am acting on behalf of the Law Enforcers of the Inner Side to eliminate Baron Constantin, the Lawbreaker who murdered Anthony and Roy!"
