Chapter 535 294: Bloody Battle!!
The Law Enforcers noticed something was wrong. "Why does Elder Pence have Dragon Claws, too?"
But they had no time to ponder. Following orders from their superiors in the Law Enforcement Organization and their clan Elders, they unleashed their Authority and prepared to attack the Dragon Knight.
Constantin ignored the Law Enforcers, knowing someone would hold them back for him.
And he was right.
Isabella Beowulf and the Dragon Slayers stepped forward. In her capacity as the acting Patriarch of the Beowulf Clan, she ordered Jose Tune and the other members of the Old Blood Dragon Slayer Clan present to join the fray.
A small interlude occurred. Tune, seeing this as the perfect opportunity to prove he was the true heir to the Beowulf Family, impulsively jumped forward.
But all it took was a single cold glance from Isabella, and he was inexplicably shouting impassioned cries of "For the glory of Beowulf!" as he led the charge.
Following Isabella's orders, they intercepted the advancing Law Enforcers. They only defended, never attacking—an action that would surely lessen their sentence at the eventual Prole Court trial.
However, their line held for only a few moments before breaking.
There were simply too many Law Enforcers surging forward, and among them were elites from both the Law Enforcement Organization and various Old Blood Clans.
And while many Bronze and Silver Tier Elders and Patriarchs from the Old Blood Clans merely watched from the sidelines, the pressure of their presence on the Dragon Slayers was immense.
Under these conditions, and with Isabella's added order not to harm anyone, it was a miracle the Dragon Slayers held out for even a few seconds.
But a few seconds was all the Dragon Knight needed, having already pinned Elder Pence to the cliffside.
He was a tireless pile driver, savagely plunging the Dragon Spear into Elder Pence's chest, heedless of the massive gash the man's Dragon Claw tore across his own torso.
Beneath his spear, Elder Pence was like a balloon filled with blood, bursting and spraying its contents into the air. The droplets landed on the Dragon Knight's Silver Flame, turning into faint wisps of smoke before they could even touch the ground.
The Law Enforcers tried to charge forward, but they were blocked by the Dragon Knight's Silver Flame and a swarm of Little Fire Dragons. The silver creatures danced around the Dragon Knight like a flurry of white butterflies.
They were eager to advance, but after seeing a single Little Fire Dragon explode with enough force to make the entire mountain peak tremble, they hesitated.
Someone from the Griffin Knight Order pleaded with Abraham, who had been observing from the sidelines, to intervene. But the Old Cowboy simply tipped the brim of his hat, glanced at the blood moon over the Abyss, and sighed, listening to the roar of dragon's breath that sounded like a cascading waterfall.
"A Golden Mage placed a ward on Traitor's Cliff. Golden Tier Law Enforcers can't use their powers here."
"The measure was put in place to prevent the Mad Dragon from breaking its seal. I could shatter the ward and intervene, but the price would be accelerating the Mad Dragon's escape. Is that what you want to see?"
The Griffin Knight flushed with embarrassment; he hadn't known any of this.
But the Silver Flame, which could even burn Spiritual Power, had trapped countless elite Law Enforcers of the Inner Side. Besides Wizards and other High Tier Law Enforcers, no one could break through it.
As for the two High Tier Silver Knights: Silver Lion Wilder was assisting Wizard K in reinforcing the seal against the Mad Dragon;
The other, Celestial Horse Yisur, due to his extreme mysophobia, was currently seeking a Wizard to cleanse the blood from his armor with a Magic Card. Bizarrely, no matter how powerful the cleansing Magic Card the Wizard used, the blood wouldn't wash away, as if it had permanently bonded to him.
Finally, unwilling to let the Dragon Knight continue his rampage, Celestial Horse Yisur removed his blood-stained armor and stripped off his blood-soaked tunic... By the time he had done so, Elder Pence's body had been burned by the Silver Flame into a blackened piece of charcoal, recognizable as a person only by its silhouette.
The Law Enforcers stared, dumbfounded... Elder Pence of the Hestia Family... was just... killed... by Baron Constantin?
A wave of absurdity washed over everyone.
The Law Enforcers swallowed nervously, and shock appeared on the faces of the Old Blood Clan members.
It had all happened so suddenly that their minds simply went blank.
It all seemed to be over.
Or so it seemed.
But the Silver Flame still burned on the charred remains, and the Dragon Knight was still desecrating the corpse. This bizarre scene made the horrified Law Enforcers fix their gaze on what was left of Elder Pence.
They heard a sound like rustling leaves and saw the blackened, rock-like skin begin to crack like shattered glass.
"His face..."
The Law Enforcers watched as the skin on the old man's face sloughed off in the flames, like a crab molting its shell, revealing a smoother, younger complexion beneath.
Everyone froze, watching Elder Pence transform in the flames as if being reborn—if one ignored the Dragon Knight still manically stabbing at his chest with the Golden Dragon Spear like a pile driver.
Then, the Dragon Knight's spear froze in mid-air. Elder Pence's hands—the very same ones that had resembled Dragon Claws—had caught the weapon. Despite the superhuman strength the Knight had displayed moments before, he could not force the spear a single inch deeper.
All eyes fell on Elder Pence's hands.
The draconic shell on those hands began to peel away, slowly revealing a pair of human hands underneath.
They were powerful and sinewy, with knotted muscles—not the hands of an old man.
