Chapter 518 285: Traitor's Cliff (2)

The Golden Eye began to turn blood-gold.

"Baron Constantin, long time no see."

Constantin's hair stood on end. He shot backward the instant he heard the voice. When he steadied himself and turned, he discovered a silvery-white figure where he had just been standing.

It was the famous Silver Lion Wilder of the Inner Side.

All the Law Enforcers were stunned.

'Silver Lion Wilder! He's here too!'

Elder Pence was first stunned, then overjoyed. "Mr. Wilder! Baron Constantin! That Lawbreaker! He killed Roy and attacked the Templar Knights!"

Wilder looked at Constantin. "You're stronger than the last time we met."

Baron Constantin narrowed his eyes. "You have no Spiritual Power or Spiritual Pressure. You're a phantom."

Wilder didn't hide it and nodded. "The rise of the Red Moon is an ill omen, so I used a third of my Spiritual Power to force my way through the Barrier and call for reinforcements. The Holy Hall should have pinpointed this location by now and are on their way."

"There's no need to struggle, Baron Constantin."

Constantin said, "If you all believe I'm a Lawbreaker, then the one thing a Lawbreaker would never do is surrender quietly."

Wilder gave him a silent look before his form dissolved into Spiritual Power.

The Knights and Law Enforcers then charged Baron Constantin.

But they stopped in their tracks, for someone had moved to block their path to Baron Constantin—Jill Hestia!

Wings grew from Jill Hestia's back. Gripping his Knight's Sword, he held it horizontally before him, shielding Constantin as he declared:

"If you want to kill Baron Constantin, you'll have to get through me first!"

Freya was dumbfounded.

Elder Pence was stunned.

The Law Enforcers froze.

Baron Constantin was dumbfounded.

Then, he clapped Jill solemnly on the shoulders, turned, and bolted!

To fight for every second was to never let a single opportunity slip by, to treat every moment like a countdown to the end of the world. No hesitation, no compromise.

So it didn't matter who Jill Hestia was—a symbolic rival in love, a fated enemy, or a respected adversary.

It didn't matter what his true intentions were; perhaps he was only stepping forward to uphold the so-called spirit of a knight, to honor an oath, while in his heart, like most of the entangled parties, he didn't want him to leave.

But now that he had an opportunity, Constantin would not let it go.

His decisiveness in bolting stunned the Law Enforcers. 'He's a renowned Dragon Knight,' they thought, 'shouldn't he at least exchange a few pleasantries?'

Jill Hestia was also taken aback for a moment, but he quickly sent a low-voiced message to Constantin with his Spiritual Power:

"I'm not trying to save you. I am merely honoring my oath. If I find you again, I will kill you!"

'Just hold the line, brother-in-law.' That's probably what Jack's persona would have said.

But Constantin simply said, "You can't beat me."

They were honest words, but they sent Jill Hestia into a moment of deep thought. The pursuers seized the opportunity, trying to bypass him and go after Constantin, but a whistling cold wind immediately rose up, making it impossible for them to advance.

Then they saw Jill Hestia raise his Longsword high, soaring into the air on fluttering wings. A sky full of Griffin Feathers suspended themselves around him, like a white swarm of bees around their hive.

Elder Pence roared, "Jill! Are you insane? Have you forgotten that you are the eldest son of the Hestia Family!? Roy was your own brother!"

The giant, grayish-white wings split into six. The bottom pair covered his feet, the middle pair extended horizontally, and the top pair crossed to shield his forehead.

Jill Hestia's gaze lowered, and his Longsword, which glinted with a cold light, dipped with it. A holy glimmer shone around his body, making him look like an Angel from the Bible sent by God to mete out divine punishment upon the earth.

As he ran, Baron Constantin glanced back and saw the scene, startled. 'Jill Hestia still has a finishing move he hasn't used?' he thought.

But he had no time to think, because the Holy Mechanism trio had appeared before him: the ever-present Saint Elvin and two Battle Nuns with slender waists, long legs, and lustrous stockings.

It turned out the trio had taken advantage of the uproar over "Jill's betrayal" to quietly circle around and cut off Constantin's escape.

Saint Elvin tore two pages from the Holy Scripture, smiled at Constantin, and said, "Dragon Knight, where do you think you're going?"

Baron Constantin drew his Spear Sword. The muzzle flashed twice. Two leaves, shaken loose by the deafening gunshots, drifted down. Two clear, bell-like sounds of blades being drawn rang out.

By the time Saint Elvin pushed aside the Tachi that Lian held before him, Baron Constantin was already gone.

Camilla glanced around. "Where did he go?"

Elvin tore another page from the Holy Scripture and pointed to a black dot on it. "Traitor's Cliff. He's probably gone to find his little girlfriend, the Dragon Witch."

"It seems our judgment was correct. The unremarkable Baron Constantin suddenly becoming a Dragon Knight has a great deal to do with the Dragon Witch. And this is very likely related to the Dragon Law."

...

On Traitor's Cliff, the battle had ended in a completely one-sided victory after the Red Dragon tore out Silver Lion King Leos's heart with its claws.

All the Knights, Demon Hunters, and Wizards who followed Silver Lion King Leos to stop the Dragon Witch had been wiped out.

Be it the pursuing elder daughter of the Beowulf family, the elite Demon Hunters at her side, or any other Law Enforcer—no matter how formidable they were within their own Tiers—they were powerless against the absolute suppression of the Dragon Witch's Silver Tier.

Covered in wounds, Isabella leaned on her Red Spear and stared up at the woman on the cliff. "Carmen Ray Dragoon, I swear I will kill you."

Having said her piece, she collapsed. The Dragon Slayers of the Beowulf Family saw their chance, quickly forming a protective circle around Isabella. They broke through the encirclement and fled west, away from Traitor's Cliff.

Seeing this, the Dragon Devourer Cultists and Dragon Attendants who had transformed into dragons roared at the heavens in excitement and prostrated themselves before the Red Dragon.

But the Red Dragon paid them no mind. It transformed into a graceful, barefoot woman in a red dress and began to walk, step by step, toward the peak of Traitor's Cliff.

The wind billowed her skirt. The dark rock of the mountain made her feet look as white as snow, yet the footprints she left behind were blood-red. The scene was like crimson spider lilies blooming on the far shores of Hell.

With each step she took, the rocks of Traitor's Cliff began to tremble slightly. The vibrations intensified, until finally, the very earth shook and the mountain swayed.

Amidst the tremors, the kneeling Dragon Devourer Cultists buried their faces even lower. They didn't dare look at the woman's back, only pressing their scale-covered foreheads piously against the cracking ground.

The woman's pace suddenly slowed as she reached a certain section of the path. The rock here was reddish-brown, and each stone was carved with enormous, ancient, and profound runes. Together, these runes bestowed a deeply mysterious power upon the cliff's summit.

Higher up, the rock's color changed from brown to a tricolor of black, white, and yellow. The yellow was like a burning meadow in autumn, the white like that meadow covered in winter snow, and the black like the scorched roots of grass revealed after the snow had melted.

Each of these rocks was carved with the same runes as before.

The difference was that these runic rocks were also embedded with jet-black chains.

The chains were as thick as pillars, each with a diameter of more than ten feet, and they gave off a faint, dark green glint. They were pulled taut, as if a pack of titanic pythons from the ancient Amazon rainforest, lurking deep in the swamps, had latched onto prey that possessed strength far beyond their own, a prey that had then dragged them all down into Hell.

The woman's bare, white foot stopped in midair, unable to take another step forward.

Suddenly, a figure leaped out from the rocks at the side. It was the High Priest.
