Chapter 511 - 282: Kill Roy

  • Next Chapter

He had been the one to confirm Baron Constantin’s death. This was reality, not a novel; no one could survive having their heart crushed. That would be no different from a deus ex machina in an Ancient Greek play.

He said, "No matter who you are, state your purpose. I can try to leave your corpse intact."

At the same time, he signaled for the Griffin Knights beside him to surround the impostor.

The Griffin Knights moved to obey. The moment they formed a circle, however, they collapsed, clutching their necks and convulsing. Just like the Knight from before, they twitched a few times and then went completely still, a gaping, bloody hole in each of their necks.

It was as if their throats had been simultaneously cut by the same sharp blade.

Roy’s expression shifted drastically as he watched, his pupils shrinking to pinpricks. He suddenly realized where he had seen this technique before and recalled what Elder Pence had told him about the incident at the auction.

’Such a bizarre technique...’

His face drained of color. "You’re of the Blood Race!"

"So it was you who were working with Baron Constantin!"

"Why? Is your target Traitor’s Cliff as well?"

With the keen vision of a Griffin Knight, he had seen dozens of blood droplets pierce the necks of his men.

And controlling blood was, without a doubt, an ability unique to the Blood Race.

Furthermore, the Blood Race did indeed possess the ability to disguise themselves as others.

He didn’t believe Baron Constantin was a member of the Blood Race, which left only one possibility: the man before him was an impostor, a member of the Blood Race in disguise.

And it was very likely the one Jill had lost track of.

’As for the Baron himself being one of the Blood Race... Honestly, that’s impossible.’

The Constantine Clan was, after all, a renowned Knight Clan of the Inner Side. If Baron Constantin had been of the Old Blood, his identity would have been exposed during the Spiritual Sense ritual.

The member of the Blood Race disguised as Baron Constantin didn’t answer. Instead, he swung his Blood Blade, launching a vicious slash.

Roy, in his Dragon Attendant form, blocked the Blood Blade with his Sharp Claws, only to find the surrounding viscous blood beginning to shoot toward him from all directions.

They struck his hard Scale Armor, producing metallic clangs.

Roy sneered, "It’s useless. The Dragon I fused with is a Mountain Dragon Subspecies. A mere Bronze Tier like you can’t possibly pierce my Scale Armor."

"Where have you taken Baron Constantin... What are you going to do to him?"

But before he could finish, a piercing pain shot through his body. He realized his tightly-locked Scale Armor was prying itself open against his will!

The member of the Blood Race had infiltrated the surface of his Scale Armor with blood, then used it to brutally pry open the once-sealed plates!

Then, his opponent transformed all the blood into tiny daggers, stabbing them into the skin beneath the Scale Armor. The attack instantly left Roy drenched in blood.

Roy struggled frantically. Griffin Feathers transformed into a furious volley of blades, shooting toward the member of the Blood Race. At the same time, sharpened shards of rock erupted from the ground, pursuing the enemy like living tentacles—one of the Authorities Roy had gained as a Dragon Attendant.

The member of the Blood Race dodged left and right amidst these attacks, like a hawk weaving through a forest.

Then, Roy let out an ice-cold sneer and slammed his hands together.

The crisscrossing stone pillars instantly converged, locking the member of the Blood Race firmly within.

But it wasn’t over. After doing this, Roy’s pupils turned orange-red. A brighter orange-red glow emanated from his abdomen and converged at his throat, and a terrifying Spiritual Pressure filled the air.

Then, under his control, the gathered orange-red light coalesced into a raging inferno that shot toward the trapped member of the Blood Race, kicking up countless clouds of dust.

A triumphant smile spread across Roy’s face. He was confident that no matter how durable the member of the Blood Race was, he could not have survived that attack.

But when the smoke cleared, his expression instantly froze.

Because the member of the Blood Race stood there, completely unharmed. He was just as gaunt, just as pale. The two Blood Blades in his hands still dripped with blood. He looked like a Vampire that had just pushed open the lid of its damp coffin and was now prowling for food with its Big Sabers.

"Th-this... how is this possible." Roy’s own words sounded feeble to his ears.

His expression then turned to shock as the member of the Blood Race instantly appeared beside him—or more precisely, beside the human part of his body that sat atop his Dragon Body.

Wielding the two Blood Blades, he began to hack at him frantically.

He tried desperately to block, but it was no use. It was the same tactic as before.

His vaunted Scale Armor was pried open by yet more of the enemy’s blood. Then, raising the two Blood Blades high, his opponent seized the fleeting opportunity and plunged them through his chest.

The pain nearly made Roy pass out. He wanted to struggle, but he had forgotten that the Blood Race could control the blood rampaging inside his body.

This prevented him from using his Authority in time. He could only use his Griffin Feathers to drive the member of the Blood Race away, shouting, "Why?! Why is the Blood Race here too?!"

"Why? It’s simple. Because I am the real Baron Constantin."

His eyes widened, and his pupils reflected the image of a Little Fire Dragon flying toward him.

A massive explosion erupted with him at its center, engulfing an area of several hundred meters. All trees and gravel in the vicinity were obliterated, and even the clouds in the sky were dispersed by the shockwave.

Seeing this, Dewey and his group, who were already on their way, and Elder Pence, approaching from another direction, both broke into a sprint toward the blast without a second thought.
