Chapter 506 - 278: Dragon Knight (4)

At that same moment, the rain of blood falling from the sky stopped.

Baron let out a long breath. Using blood to kill so many people at once had been a considerable drain on his Spiritual Power. But at least it had once again suppressed the urge to Promote and the bloodthirsty instinct stirring within him.

’Just moments ago, I nearly lost control several times. I almost gave in to the impulse to sink my teeth into the necks of the heavily injured Law Enforcers behind me, just like a stray dog. The fact that I find the idea a little pleasant... I must be a lost cause, huh?’

"Alright, as you said. Miss Kesha, can you give me the recording pen now?" Baron then turned to the dazed Kesha.

"Thank you." Baron took the recording pen and nodded at Kesha. He then took out some potions used by Demon Hunters for healing and recovering Spiritual Power, leaned over, and had Lucy drink them.

As for Zick and the other heavily injured Demon Hunters and Faith Knights who were still breathing, he ignored them.

Kesha snapped out of her stupor and said in a delicate voice, "Could you give me some?"

Baron swatted her outstretched hand away. "No."

Baron said, "I’d also like to make a deal with you."

"A deal?"

As if she’d thought of something, Kesha bit her lip, her face adopting a flirtatious, coy expression. She then took out a hair tie, gathered her long hair, and knelt down in front of Baron...

But the man pressed down on her shoulder, aimed the muzzle of his gun at her forehead, and pulled out a piece of metal from his coat.

"Hold this. After you inject your Spiritual Power, question Soron’s corpse... Ask the questions I tell you to ask."

Just as Kesha gripped the metal sheet and was about to inject her Spiritual Power, she heard Baron fire his gun.

The gunshot tore through the quiet night. Kesha felt a warm splatter on her face. When she turned to look, Knight Commander Sad was collapsing to the ground, a bloody hole in his forehead.

Before she could even catch her breath, she heard the sound of countless footsteps coming from the other side of the mountain. Then, something came rushing at them from behind, lunging at the two of them like a black panther ambushing its prey, baring its fangs.

Without the slightest hesitation, Kesha drew her short dagger and blocked the attacker’s sword. In the brief flash of sparks as their blades clashed, she clearly saw that the attacker was a Lion-eyed Knight from the Lancelot family—Aile Lancelot!

Aile was knocked back by Kesha. He didn’t advance again, but instead said in a low voice:

"Miss Kesha, don’t tell me you’re in league with this animal, Baron Constantin?!"

Kesha said, "I wouldn’t say we’re in league. I’m his hostage right now."

She added, "I think Mr. Aile might want to hear his explanation."

She paused. "But I do agree with you calling him an animal."

But Aile just glared at Baron Constantin, his voice filled with hatred.

"What is there to explain? This bastard killed everyone in the Lion Eye Knight Order... even Knight Commander Sad died at the end of his gun just now! I saw it with my own eyes. No matter what, he is guilty of killing a Templar Knight. If he wants to explain, he can do it for the chief judge at the Prole Court!"

After speaking, he launched the beacon Jill had given him to contact the Holy Hall’s team for the Dracul Mountain Range Trial. The dense Spiritual Power transformed into a slender ribbon of energy that drifted out toward the surrounding mountains before vanishing into the darkness.

He then looked at Baron and unleashed an furious [Lion’s Roar]. The shout instantly enveloped Baron Constantin. Seizing the moment Baron was stunned, Aile infused his sword with Spiritual Power and thrust it viciously toward his opponent’s heart.

But Baron parried his sword with his spear sword.

Aile’s expression suddenly froze. "You... How are you not affected by the Lion’s Roar!"

He remembered that in their previous fight, Baron Constantin had been stunned by his [Lion’s Roar], but now...

He reacted. "You’re not Baron Constantin!"

’So, people can be rational after all.’ Baron wasn’t surprised that Aile had figured it out. After all, those plot devices where characters become idiots, plugging their ears and shouting "I’m not listening! I’m not listening!" only happen in scripts and third-rate novels.

’But... what does he mean, "You’re not Baron Constantin"? Logically, a normal person should have deduced that *the other* Baron Constantin was the fake one, right?’

’It feels like his reasoning was half-right and half-wrong, leading to a half-right, half-wrong conclusion.’

So he said, "To be precise, I am the real Baron Constantin."

As soon as he said this, Aile’s expression changed, and he quickly put distance between himself and Baron.

Then he said, "You say you’re Baron Constantin? You’ve always been Baron Constantin... It was you who colluded with the Dragon Witch to attack the Lion Eye Knight Order’s garrison and kill my comrades from the Holy Hall!"

Baron said, "That was me, but it was someone impersonating me."

’Damn, why does talking like this have such an Ancient Dragon vibe?’ Baron thought. ’It’s like one of those riddles: "It was me, yet it was not me." Then, the two sides misunderstand each other and start fighting.’

Aile said, "Why should I believe you? The fact that you can resist my [Lion’s Roar] only proves you’re very strong. It doesn’t prove anything else."

Baron said, "If I wanted to kill you, I would have done it already, not waited for you to send for reinforcements... On a side note, there’s some of my Spiritual Power remaining on your sword. That’s why you felt your sword getting heavier just now."

He pointed at himself. "That’s all because I’m controlling it."

Aile froze. "Why..."

Baron said, "Why would there be my residual Spiritual Power on your sword... What do you think?"

Aile stood rooted to the spot.

A guess formed in his mind, but he found it so absurd that his brain seemed to shut down for a moment.

Kesha, standing to the side, was very curious why Aile was so shaken by a single sentence from Baron. She was about to ask when she suddenly noticed the sound of countless footsteps from the other side of the slope growing closer. She looked over instinctively and saw a group of Knights clad in armor emerge from the darkness.

Kesha saw them, and naturally, so did Baron and Aile.

’Did the beacon work that fast?’ Aile thought. ’I only just released it, and reinforcements are already here.’

However... He frowned. ’Why do they all seem to be Griffin Knights?’

"We’re in trouble," he then heard Kesha say.

"Mm," was the response from the man who claimed to be the Dragon Knight, Baron Constantin.

His response was calm, with a hint of confidence that settled Kesha’s nerves a little.

Before this, Kesha had never met the legendary Dragon Knight. Her knowledge of his strength was limited to newspapers and rumors.

In her perception, the Spiritual Pressure that Soron had displayed was already among the very peak of the Bronze Tier, not to mention he was surrounded by so many Dragon Attendants and Cultists who were almost equivalent to the Black Iron Tier... Yet such a powerful existence was still finished off with a simple snap of the Dragon Knight’s fingers.

’Since the Dragon Knight is this confident, it must mean things will be fine,’ Kesha thought, breathing a sigh of relief.

"Dragon Knight Baron Constantin! You attacked the Lion Eye Knight Order’s garrison and wantonly slaughtered Knights under the Holy Hall and Law Enforcers from other Law Enforcement Organizations! How do you answer for your crimes?!"

Baron said, "All of that was done by someone impersonating me."

"Then by your logic, isn’t there someone impersonating me right now?!"

The newly arrived Griffin Knights stood in solemn formation, then parted into two rows. From between them walked a person all three of them recognized.

Roy Hestia!

"Roy Hestia... isn’t he dead...?" Recognizing the young man’s face, Aile involuntarily cried out and looked at Baron.

He remembered reading in the news that Roy Hestia had been killed by Baron Constantin at Dragon Spear Plaza in the Dracul Mountain Range.
