Baron said, "That’s right, it’s me. Did you remember everything he said earlier?"

Kesha said, "That depends on your performance."

Baron was taken aback.

She said, "If you defeat Soron, I’ll say I remembered everything. If you lose..."

She left it at that, but Baron mostly understood what she meant.

’So this woman was hedging her bets. She’d react based on whether I or Soron came out on top.’

Soron sneered. "Kesha, you’re a smart woman. You should understand Baron Constantin’s situation on the Inner Side. No one will believe this despicable Bloodless."

"Hand over that so-called evidence to me, and I’ll spare your life. I guarantee I won’t harm you."

Kesha said, "What Soron says makes perfect sense, but you struck too hard earlier. You have no idea how to be gentle with a woman. My chest is still hurting."

"So I’ll just see how things play out. I’ll help whoever wins," Kesha said.

’This bitch,’ Baron and Soron thought in unison.

Soron sneered, "Then I’ll just tear you all to shreds."

With that, he let out a furious roar at the sky. The sound stirred the rolling thunder as wind and clouds gathered, and the rain of blood became a downpour.

At the same time, the cries of more Dragon Species erupted from all over the mountain range in response to him. For a moment, the world was filled with nothing but these frenzied, ocean-like roars, and countless pairs of fluorescent eyes lit up in the darkness.

The owners of those eyes were all Dragon Attendants, and the weakest among them were at least Sixth Generation Species.

Amidst the frenzied roars, the burning figure of the Dragon Knight suddenly seemed so insignificant, like a matchstick that could be blown over by a gust of wind.

Even if the matchstick was still burning fiercely.

Seeing so many Dragon Attendants, Kesha’s expression instantly grew grave. Her former languid, confident air vanished, and her hand had already slipped a Short Dagger from her sleeve, keeping it hidden.

’She was already trying to figure out a way to escape.’

Soron led the Dragon Attendants, surrounding Baron and Kesha. Behind them lay the unconscious Lucy and Zick, along with a number of heavily wounded and comatose Law Enforcers.

Soron sneered, "Now that we knew you were here, did you really think we wouldn’t be prepared?"

"The High Priest actually discovered you at the auction long ago. The only reason he didn’t expose you then was that they hoped to leave your corpse intact."

"After all, the Priests of the Dragon Eater Association have never had a precedent for turning a Dragon Knight into a Dragon Attendant. They’re also desperate to know if a Dragon Knight’s soul can better merge with a Dragon Descendant, or even the Dragon Race itself."

Soron tapped the cold, lifeless eye in its socket. "When that time comes," he snarled, "I will pay you back double for what you did to me."

"So if I give you one million pounds now, will you give me two million pounds back?" Baron said.

Soron was stunned, clearly not expecting such a bizarre line of thought.

Kesha, who had looked a little tense, chose this moment to laugh out loud, her laughter like silver bells.

"Baron Constantin, you’ve really fallen. I thought a former candidate for Constantine Family Head wouldn’t be so shallow. I never thought you’d become completely obsessed with money because of the harassment from those insects on the Outer Side."

Baron said, "So you’re saying you don’t actually have that much money?"

He sized up Soron’s current appearance. "Or is it that, because of the way you look now, the Constantine Clan decided to suspend your living allowance?"

Kesha laughed again. Her laugh was as thin as her blades, cutting precisely into Soron’s sore spot. He snarled:

"After tonight, I will prove my worth and your uselessness once and for all."

Baron was completely unmoved by such provocative words. He simply watched the rain of blood slowly seep into the bodies of all the surrounding Knights, Dragon Attendants, and Soron himself, and then said:

"So your only value is derived from mine?"

Soron suddenly let out an overwhelming roar. His monstrous and enormous body rose like a mountain peak. A series of soft clicks and cracks came from his spine to his sternum as his bones shifted like liquid metal, then interlocked like a set of precision gears.

Set against the bloody rain, he looked just like Frankenstein escaping his prison.

Kesha looked at Baron. "Mr. Constantine, I think you might be in trouble."

Baron looked at the bloody rain and said, "I wouldn’t be so sure."

He suddenly raised his right hand.

Kesha didn’t understand the meaning of his sudden gesture. ’Is he surrendering? But you’re supposed to raise both hands to surrender.’

Soron sneered. "It’s too late to back down now, Baron Constantin. I will make you die in the most miserable way possible."

Just as Soron led his army of Dragon Attendants and Dragon Devourer Cultists to swarm forward, and just as Kesha thought the Dragon Knight was about to be drowned by what could only be described as a tide of Dragon Attendants, the Dragon Knight snapped his fingers with his raised right hand.

In that single instant, all the Cultists, the Dragon Attendants—and Soron, who had transformed into a Dragon Attendant but whose only contribution was to say a few words—stared wide-eyed.

And then, they fell apart.

Literally fell apart. It was as if an unseen god had drawn lines on their bodies with a knife, and they then split neatly along those very lines.

"Mon... Monster!" A Griffin Knight saw this and tried to run, but before he could take more than a few steps, his chest was pierced by a bullet. He fell backward, the raindrops landing on his face carrying a thick scent of blood.

’His last thought was—this bloody rain has been falling for a bit too long, hasn’t it?’

"What is this..."

Soron’s eyes were blood-red. He seemed to want to say something, but before the words could leave his lips, his body, just like those of the Dragon Attendants and Cultists, crumbled apart like a stone weathered by countless years.
