Sad's expression froze as well. He clearly hadn't anticipated this person's arrival.

Up on the hillside, "Baron Constantin's" gaze turned cold, and he narrowed his eyes. He, too, was clearly surprised by this person's appearance.

Lucy stared blankly at the young man before her. "Zick? Didn't I ask you to go get help?"

This person was none other than Zick Frank!

Without turning his head, Zick told Lucy that the area around the Dragon Family ruins was completely sealed off by the Dragon Devourer Cultists. He hadn't been able to escape.

Then, enduring the pain, Zick Frank pulled the Griffin Feather from his arm. "Miss Lucy, go! I'll hold them off here. Hurry and get word to my cousin, Dewey. Once he knows, he'll definitely come to save me…"

Then, he turned to face the Griffin Knights and Dragon Devourer Cultists advancing on him.

A Branding manifested on his hand, and his clothes were instantly torn apart by a strange, frenzied power. The muscles and bones in his arms bulged and deformed, while his back and chest swelled like overinflated balloons. Fine, greenish-blue, triangular Dragon Crocodile Scales covered his upper body.

He scraped his arms against each other, creating a shower of brilliant sparks.

He looked at Sad—or more accurately, at the "Baron Constantin" behind him, who was holding the Golden Dragon Spear.

"Dewey once told me you were powerful. But that was just hearsay, something I hadn't experienced for myself. Now that I've seen you, I have to say, you're not all that."

He sneered. "Aile was right about you. You're not that strong. If we were both at the Bronze Tier, I wouldn't be afraid of you!"

Though he said this aloud, he was secretly sending Lucy a message with his Spiritual Power, telling the Daoist Nun to take the chance and run.

Even without his warning, Lucy had already pulled another handful of beans from her robes. She used the spell Sowing Beans into Soldiers, creating a guard around Zick before tossing out several Papermen that scattered in different directions.

Sad quickly commanded the Griffin Knights to fight off the Bean Soldiers and ordered the Dragon Devourer Cultists to pursue Lucy, while he himself swung his sword at Zick.

Although both were Black Iron Tier Law Enforcers, the gap in their combat experience was vast. Zick was defeated in just over a dozen exchanges and was about to be decapitated by Sad's blade.

But in that instant, Zick coughed up a mouthful of blood and flashed a gruesome, toothy grin. "Just you wait. My cousin Dewey will avenge me."

Sad snorted. "He's just a Bronze Demon Hunter. Gold is already on death's door. How could Dewey possibly escape?"

"And what if you add me to the mix?" A light, enchanting female voice suddenly rang out as a golden hook parried Sad's blade.

Sad's gaze sharpened. The one who had parried his strike was a Divine General in gleaming silver armor!

Zick seized the opportunity to retreat, his gaze pausing for a moment on Lucy's bountiful chest before he spoke. "Why did you come back?"

Despite his words, Zick felt a small warmth spread through his chest.

'Lucy from the Beowulf Family actually came back just to save me,' he thought. 'Don't tell me... she likes me?'

'Of course, that's just a thought.' Though they weren't far apart in age, Zick's heart had long been promised to another girl. He had sealed it away from love ever since, a decision that had led to him antagonizing that bastard of a Knight, Aile.

Lucy said, "It's not that I wanted to come back. That guy was blocking my escape route with Thunder Strikes."

She was talking about the Fake Baron.

Then, Lucy pulled a handful of Silver Beans from her robes. "I performed a divination on my way back. It said our fortunes, good and bad, are tied together this time. So, I figure we have a chance to win this."

She scattered the Silver Beans—completely different from the ones before—onto the ground. As she formed a hand seal for a spell, a bolt of Celestial Thunder struck the Silver Armored Divine General before the Electric Dragon Attendant could react, infusing it with a Power of Annihilation.

She asked, "What do you think?"

He replied, "I don't know. But if Miss Lucy has this much confidence, perhaps we can give it a try."

「Three minutes later.」

Zick coughed up a huge mouthful of blood and passed out. Lucy, her Spiritual Power depleted, was crouched on the ground, her robes clinging to her body and outlining her perfect curves.

She was still clutching the beans for her Bean Soldiers, but she couldn't even lift her arm.

The battle had been completely one-sided. Before the so-called Dragon Knight, her and Zick's resistance had been utterly futile. They were like two rabbits cornered by a tiger, with nothing left to do but let out dying whimpers.

She watched "Baron Constantin" approach with his Golden Dragon Spear and smiled faintly.

"I know you're not Baron Constantin at all."

The "Dragon Knight" didn't deny it, simply asking, "How could you tell?"

"The Baron's Golden Eyes are different from yours."

Faced with imminent death, Lucy's expression instead became serene, like a child hugging a favorite pillow.

"How are they different?" the "Dragon Knight" asked, ignoring Sad, who was gesturing impatiently at his side, urging him to kill Lucy at once.

"Your eyes are filled with despair."

The "Dragon Knight" nodded. "He caused all of this. That is why I must have my revenge."

"Revenge on him? No, you misunderstand me," Lucy said with a laugh. "I mean his eyes are even more filled with despair than yours, you damn bastard."

She flipped the "Dragon Knight" the middle finger.

Although the Dragon Knight didn't understand the last part of what Lucy said—a Sichuanese curse—he certainly recognized the internationally friendly gesture.

His gaze turned icy. With a powerful thrust, the Dragon Spear shot forward, clearly intending to impale the Daoist Nun to the ground.

'Master… you said I would face a tribulation upon my return to Britain. This must be it. It's a shame I couldn't overcome it. I've let you down.'
