Chapter 478 264: Dragon Knight Attack?
Isabella and Barbara both narrowed their eyes. Freya snorted coldly and said, "I know what kind of person Baron Constantin is. Without some absolute benefit, that once-despicable Bloodless would never be willing to take such a huge risk to pick a fight with the Lion Eye Knight Order stationed here."
"Besides, I know for a fact there's nothing there at the Lion Eye Knight Order's post but a pile of ruins," Freya said. "If he really wanted to get something, the only things there would be the Knights' honor and their swords."
'That's right,' Baron, who was in the crowd, silently agreed with Freya. 'As if I have nothing better to do than go looking for trouble with the Lion Eye Knight Order. It's not like I don't have enough enemies already.'
But he failed to notice that, beside him, Witch kk's gaze flickered slightly at Freya's mention of the word "ruins."
It was as if someone had heard Baron's silent complaints. A voice spoke up from the crowd:
"Why would Baron Constantin attack the Lion Eye Knight Order? What proof do you have that he attacked them? After all, from the beginning until now, everything has just been your side of the story."
"Or are you actually a Dragon Devourer Cultist, planning to use this as an excuse to lure the auction house's guards away so you can plunder everything being auctioned here?"
The moment these words were spoken, a sudden realization washed over the guests.
They were all intelligent people; a single hint was all they needed.
Indeed, it was all just this Lion-eyed Knight's word, with no concrete evidence.
Right now, there were Dragon Devourer Cultists and the Dragon Witch lurking in the auction house. If Silver Lion Wilder, the only Silver-rank on site, went to Traitor's Cliff, what would happen if the Dragon Witch decided to show up?
Seeing the crowd's suspicion, Aile's companion hastily pulled a Magic Card from his pocket. "I can prove this is real. A Wizard recorded a picture of him, and he looks exactly the same as in the newspapers."
After speaking, he infused it with Spiritual Power. The Magic Card dissipated, then materialized in the air as a massive photograph, large enough for everyone in the hall to see:
Dragon Knight Baron Constantin, wreathed in fire, was at the forefront, battling the Knights of the Lion Eye Knight Order. Behind him, dozens of Giant Dragons bared their fangs and brandished their claws, breathing out clouds and mist.
"There's actually a photograph. It looks like it's true, then."
"So that's the famous Baron Constantin? He really is as handsome as he looks in the papers."
The Law Enforcers and guests all began to murmur amongst themselves, discussing Baron Constantin. Of course, the focus of their discussions varied.
Isabella frowned. "Even if this photograph is real, the event itself might not be. In the Dracul Mountain Range, Dragon Devourer Association Cultists have played the part of Baron Constantin before. The Baron Constantin you saw might not be the real one."
The crowd came to a realization. It was true; in the Dracul Mountain Range, a Dragon Devourer Cultist had indeed disguised himself as Baron Constantin to raid Dragon Spear Plaza.
But Aile's companion said, "There are other photographs."
The image projected near the ceiling changed once more:
Dragon Knight Baron Constantin held the Golden Dragon Spear, forcefully thrusting it into the chest of a Lion-eyed Knight. Blood sprayed everywhere. In a flash of lightning that illuminated the world for an instant, his pair of gleaming Golden Eyes left the deepest impression.
Isabella fell silent, her gaze sweeping across the crowd as if searching for something.
Freya also said nothing. Her hands were clenched tightly together, her expression visibly anxious.
"That's the Dragon Spear... If I remember correctly, it was Baron Constantin who pulled out the Dragon Spear in the Dracul Mountain Range! After the Dragon Spear responded to him, it turned gold!" Gold said.
His eyes were fixed on the Dragon Spear in the Dragon Knight's hands in the image, a hint of covetousness hidden beneath his shock.
According to legend, the Dragon Spear was an Alchemy Weapon used by the ancestor Beowulf to hunt Pure-blood Ancient Dragons. The mere ripple of its appearance was enough to trigger the so-called "Dragon Spear Baptism." It was impossible to imagine what benefits that fellow Baron Constantin gained from obtaining this spear. Moreover, with this very spear, Baron Constantin had single-handedly quelled the "Dragon Calamity" that could have annihilated half of Celtic.
'If I could possess it...'
It wasn't just Gold. Nearly every Law Enforcer present who had participated in the battle at Dragon Spear Plaza, as well as the guests who had watched Baron Constantin's sudden arrival and final escape via projection, recognized the spear.
There was no mistaking it. The Golden Dragon Spear's iconic Nine Dragon Pattern was unforgettable to anyone who had seen it even once. Combined with the Dragon Knight's Golden Eye and flames, even if this was an imposter, it only meant that the person's disguise was exceptionally good.
Kesha looked at Dewey. "Mr. Dewey, do you think the person in the image is the Dragon Knight? After all, you have a record of fighting Baron Constantin head-on."
'I do have a record of fighting him head-on, but the end result was me getting hijacked by that guy... Is this woman trying to pick a fight with me?'
Dewey glanced at the two images created by the Magic Card, which were switching back and forth in the air. He then cast an imperceptible glance at Elder Pence before saying calmly:
"I don't remember clearly. Perhaps I'd only be able to recognize him if we met again. However, what Gold said is correct—Baron Constantin did take the Dragon Spear, and this one looks very much like the one from the plaza...
"As for the Golden Eye and the flames, I can't say for sure. Unless the real Baron Constantin shows up to expose this 'Dragon Knight' like he did last time in the Dracul Mountain Range, otherwise, whether I lean towards him being real or fake, it will be tacitly accepted as real."
He shrugged. "But if I were the real one, I probably wouldn't stand up. After all, with so many people here in Berthelili, stepping forward in this situation would be no different from suicide."
"So, that is Baron Constantin," Saint Elvin said, maintaining his usual smile, which made him look like a cunning groundhog.
Knight Commander Sad immediately declared, "I will go and apprehend Baron Constantin!"
But Elder Pence stopped him, frowning. "But why on earth would Baron Constantin attack the Lion Eye Knight Order, which is three miles from Traitor's Cliff?"
"Elder Pence, don't try to make excuses for him. What other explanation could there be? It's nothing more than Baron Constantin intending to use a massacre to prove his strength to the Inner Side... Of course, it's also possible that Baron Constantin just had a psychotic break."
Hilde sneered in the direction of the Pound Siblings. "Don't the rumors say that the Old Blood of the Constantine Clan generally makes them suffer from mental illness? It wouldn't be surprising to view Baron Constantin as a mental patient with a hereditary family illness. After all, you can tell from the news articles that his actions are secretive and he acts with no regard for the consequences."
"I imagine Mr. Pound is well aware of this," Hilde added, singling out Pound.
Pound's eyes went wide with fury, but he knew this wasn't the time to lose his temper. He just panted heavily and said, "Don't mention that sinner of the Constantine Family! He killed his brother—"
Pound, about to say more, was yanked hard by his sister. He caught himself and finally just said viciously:
"Anyway, he's scum!"
This remark made some of the Law Enforcers and Old Blood Nobility in attendance exchange glances. The rumors about why Baron Constantin was expelled from the Constantine Clan were many and varied.
The mainstream media's accepted version was that Baron Constantin, despite being from the Direct Lineage, was a Bloodless in terms of his Spiritual Sense, bringing shame to the Constantine Clan, a long-established Old Blood Knight Clan. As a result, he was saddled with a baseless crime and exiled from the Inner Side.
Now, judging from this Pound Constantin's words, it seemed there was a much deeper secret hidden within the story.
As everyone's thoughts were swirling, a guest suddenly shouted, "I've got it! I've got it!"
The others looked at him. He said, "Because of Anthony! Baron Constantin attacked the Lion Eye Knight Order because of Anthony!"
