Chapter 459 - 255: KK

He suddenly saw Elder Pence whispering to one of the guards. Then, the guard summoned a squad and strode toward Baron’s position on the dance floor.

’They’re forcing me to reveal myself...’ Baron sighed internally. He began to channel his Spiritual Power into the Dragon Pattern on his arm... As he did, he suddenly noticed something he had previously forgotten.

The Golden Dragon Pattern, formed from the Dragon Spear, had unknowingly spread from his right forearm to his entire upper arm. Judging by the flow of the pattern, it even seemed poised to continue onto his back.

’Has it evolved?’ Baron thought.

He asked the Witch in a low voice, "Have you thought of a countermeasure?"

KK gave him a seductive eye-roll. "I can hold off Silver Lion Wilder, but only just hold him off. In some ways, that guy is even more troublesome than Fei."

"But you’re the famous Dragon Witch," Baron said in surprise.

And with all your experience, you’re much older than Wilder. Logically, your power should be far more developed than his.

The Witch sighed. "Witches are a type of Wizard, my dear Dragon Knight. I’m of the Wizard Profession, and he’s of the Contract Knight Profession. With so many people around and so little space, it’s easy for him to get close to me."

Baron said, "They might not necessarily find anything, actually. We’re just in disguise; it’s not like we stole the Red Dragon Reverse Scale. They might not be able to tell we’re different."

At the same time, he added silently in his mind: ’If we are different, then pretend I never said that.’

As they spoke, the squad of Knights reached them and began their inspection. Finally, the one in the lead stopped before the two of them and waved a Magic Card engraved with special Alchemy Circuits around them... The Magic Card suddenly lit up, and the Knight’s expression changed.

’Just my rotten luck.’

Baron sighed internally. Hearing the gasps from the surrounding crowd, he was just about to draw his spear.

But at that moment, the sounds of disputes erupted from all around. The noise was loud and chaotic; it seemed that more than just arguments were breaking out, but actual fights.

Baron looked over instinctively and immediately realized something was wrong. The Magic Cards in the hands of the Knight Guards all around were glowing faintly. At the same time, the expressions of the surrounding guests turned cold and unfamiliar in an instant.

Best friends who had been laughing together just moments before now inexplicably turned on each other over trivial matters. Noble gentlemen who had been whispering about state affairs erupted into fierce conflicts over minor disagreements. Even worse, brothers turned against brothers and sisters backstabbed one another—such heart-wrenching quarrels were breaking out everywhere... For a moment, the auction gala, which was supposed to represent the high society of the Inner Side, bizarrely reminded Baron of the noisy turf wars fought by dancing grandmas in the public squares of his past life.

The guards who had been passing them with Magic Cards, heading for Baron and the Witch, also stopped in their tracks. They realized that their Magic Cards were also lighting up faintly whenever they passed by the bickering guests.

This sudden turn of events left the Knights momentarily stunned. Even the Knight Commander in front of Baron was dumbfounded.

Listening to the clamor around him, Baron instantly understood what was happening. He suddenly looked at KK and yelled at her:

"I’ve had it up to here with you, you hooligan!"

KK’s expression froze for a second. In that instant, she looked like a lost child who had done something wrong and was being scolded by her parents. But a Witch is a Witch, after all. She immediately grasped Baron’s intent and shot back without hesitation:

"That’s still better than a degenerate scumbag like you!"

The two of them began to trade sharp, sarcastic insults right in front of the Knight Commander. The venom in their words and the spite in their undertones left the Knight Commander momentarily stunned.

He looked at his own equally bewildered guards, glanced at the faintly glowing Magic Cards in their hands, and instantly realized this might be a premeditated attack.

He said, "Quick, go get Mr. Wilder."

Wilder was a Silver Tier Knight and one of the spiritual leaders of the Templar Knights. He was the only one to call for in a situation like this.

He didn’t need to say it. Silver Lion Wilder, along with a few other people who were still clear-headed, immediately came over to join the Knights.

Wizard K, who was beside Wilder, said, "Based on my theories and observations, these people have likely had their Divine Souls bewitched by some kind of Alchemy Array or Magic."

"Then why are some people controlled and others aren’t?" someone asked. It was Dewey of the Frank Family.

He saw Zick, from his own family, arguing with a colleague from the Demon Hunter Association on the other side of the hall. If he recalled correctly, that colleague was Zick’s superior officer. The reason for their argument was that Zick believed his superior’s Tier and strength did not warrant him continuing in that position.

Right now, the two were still in a red-faced argument, but it looked like it would soon escalate into a full-blown showdown between Demon Hunters.

The eldest daughter’s gaze paused for a moment on a certain figure who was playing the fool. She said, "The difference is whether or not they drank the red wine at the venue."

"Red wine?" Jill called over an Attendant who was still clear-headed and had them bring a glass of red wine. She examined it carefully but found nothing.

In the end, it was Wizard K who tapped the red wine with his Magic Staff. A tiny, minuscule droplet of blood separated from the wine. It was so small that only a Law Enforcer with exceptional eyesight could see it.

"What is that?" asked Gold of the Walter Family.

"A type of blood." Bronze Saint Elvin arrived late with two Battle Nuns. "I can sense a bloody scent. Mr. Jiang Ge, what do you think?"

Jiang Ge, the Faith Knight from the Holy Cross Association, stroked his broad chin, carefully studying the tiny droplet of blood suspended in the air. He shook his head and said:

"We might need to get someone from the Van Helsing Family. The sense of smell of a Wolf Sect Demon Hunter should be able to identify what this is."
