Chapter 711: The Influence of Woman In the Harem

  • Next Chapter

Aeryon believe that he is someone that could endure humiliation and could endure what others could not

The only thing was that he never had to endure. He now got all the winning hands.

The empires around him are all in internal troubles and external troubles and the destinies of these empire is about to end.

Aeryon himself did not squander this wining hand and cultivated it. that winning hand has never let him down

And he himself is not a ruler that is insane and would throw this winning hand

So, he never had the chance to show he could endure what others could not. But he knew his wife.

This is a woman who could be patient for a while but not always.

If she is a political machine she could even forgive Mayeux and even uses him to further her own goals

But is that the Ayera that he wanted?

No, if that was the case and she is really someone like that, Aeryon would not dare to give her any promises.

The Yan dynasty court on the south is basically the Han dynasty.

And in the Han dynasty there is many instances where the harem is controlled by the Empress Dowager.

It’s fine if it’s only the harem

But then that power extend to influencing the emperor.

There is the Lu family during the Han. And Liu Che was so worried about the influence of the Wei family that he would kill his own son in a fabricated treason charge which leads to the Han dynasty weakening.

Then there was the most famous of them all, Wu Zetian.

If the Empress Dowager is simply controlling the harem, Aeryon could not care

But once power is felt, then these kind of people could not let it go and they would reach for power that should not be theirs.

And when that happens, there is chaos and disorder. And like always, when there is chaos and disorders the one that suffers the most is the common people of the world.

If she is really is someone like that, then Aeryon could not afford such a political machine in his tent

He would cut off her head before he developed any more affection

Hence, even now, even when she is trying to feign calmness, Aeryon could see through it.

Aeryon simply look at her, almost like staring at her and then he sighed.

And Ayera hearing this sigh, her eyes never leaving her husband also sigh

It seems my acting is bad.

She thought to herself and then continue saying

"I refrain from killing Mayeux....because of you. Now, you should I also refrain killing my brother because of you? Should I just let it go"

She paused and there is a smile on his face

But one glance is enough to see that this is not a bitter smile. This is a challenging smile

"How much should I let go?" she paused for a second and then she added

"Do you even respect me? Do this tribe respect me? Even your advisor could scheme against me this badly" she paused for another second and then added

"I am terrified of your grace"

Aeryon close his eyes and for a moment he is thinking of many things but he thought of all the things yet reaching nothing

Because this is the matter of the heart. And a matter of politics. A matter of power. He could look at history and find all kinds of events and learn from it but different times and different people would lead to different outcome for everyone involves.

And it is because of this he could not help but sigh

Aeryon open his eyes and look at his wife and there is pity in his eyes

"Mayeux.....is not the primary culprit of the matter"

"Heh" she snorted. And then she added

"He stop me from informing you. Is that not a culprit of the death of my father?"

She paused for another moment.

Aeryon did not say anything

Not because he could not say anything because it is pointless

Aeryon had said it before and he did not like repeating what he had said multiple times

He also did not said that Garron death, while it could have been stopped, did not stop the problem.

Of course if he had saved Garron , Garron could always make a comeback. With the support of his son in law, if Aeryon had saved Garron, he could surely win this battle

Knowing that Viper, he probably could turn it into his advantage. And the ones that are dying today would not be him but maybe his son

But would he really kill his son? Aeryon sometimes ponder these question when his mind is wandering

Garron talk a big game but Aeryon could tell, while he is disappointed a bit in his sons, he did not reach the point of wanting to kill them

He has the heart of a father.

He is very cunning to his enemies but for his sons, no matter how harshly he seems to judge them, Aeryon believe that if that old man had to kill his own sons by his own hands he might not do it

He might do it if it’s because of the tribe.

But if he were to kill his son because the son wanted to kill him....he might not be able to do it and he would probably even craft reason and fabricate stories to downplay the matter

From the very beginning, Garron never intended to replace Ogura. He might be disappointed in that son of his

And Ogura might not be the perfect son and he does judge him harshly but that does not mean that he himself wanted to depose his own son.

After all, in the end, Ogura is his son. But what he couldn’t do, his son could do it. garron at his last moment ,could he have foreseen that his tribe would fall.

There is only one ending for the tribe of Utgard now.

Utgard had severed its relationship with Aeryon.

And they could not go to the east.

They could attack the north but the moment they did that where him or Dama would send a few thousand men and they could make sure to take any place of importance and destroy Ogura army in one fell swoop

The ending was to be cut up.

Or subdued by either Brolgadhr or Esbizuk tribe. Because Ogura tear up the only thing holding both tribes

Well, Aeryon had a plan.

Ayera could take over when it is time for him to ride East.

He never had the naivety to think that he would not clash with Garron.

In the end, he believes that Garron would concede to him.

He had an entire negotiation essay prepare. For example he knows Garron wanted to establish the Utgard tribe in the central region of the Steppe.

It is to return to their region where they have graze.

To be more honest it is about reclaiming back the influence and power they have in the central region of the Steppe.

Aeryon could promise them that. To support them and their banners to expel those who expel them out of that region.

And there is many considerations he had put in. It did not have to be true.

It only needs Garron to believe it and concede the area there so that Ayera could take Utgard peacefully and he would have the support of Utgard tribe in the Southern Great Steppe

Then with allies united, they could attack the East with the whole power of the entire western region and the central region of the Southern Great Steppe

Hundreds of thousands of men would ride their horses and they would destroy every settlements and tribe in the east if they do not surrender.

He had it all planned out

But he never thought of assassinating Garron.

There are some rules chief like them must follow.

Once you begin assassinating rival chief, then no chief would even be able to sleep peacefully ever again. Aeryon himself had experienced it.

But most of them are stopped even before they could reach him.

All of that plan went to ashes the moment Ogura killed his father and now that child has turn an ally, turn a steadfast wall into a fragile place.

The east is not pleased with this and so is Aeryon.

The reason why the east and him did not yet clashed is not because Utgard guides the border or sphere of influence between them

Utgard is small.

Yes, it is bigger than it was before.

But if one consider how big the Brolgadhr tribe right now and how large the Esbizuk tribe area of control, and the men and the horses they command, in the eyes of these two tribes, Utgard is still a small tribe

The reason is because the Utgard provide the reason

Utgard area of command and control have some hills and some ravine and valleys and they could stationed ambushers there and could be quite strategic.

But the Steppe is full of plains.

If they wanted to circumvent it, one simply have to take a different route

However, Utgard could be a watchmen of sorts and could even attack the enemy army from behind

So, it is crucial for one to get their permission or control them first. After all, there is also tens of thousands of people under Utgard.

"Ogura" Aeryon suddenly sighed

In the end, Garron defeat was a symptom.

A disease that is manipulated by Ogura
