Chapter 190: Boss Snape’s Men
The man in front of them was still talking tough, but his body was already trembling as the three slowly approached.
“So what if we’re bullying you? I don’t believe you can fight back.”
“I warn you, don’t… don’t come any closer.” It took a while for the man inside the house to remember to pull out a weapon.
He hoped to use it to threaten Vikram and the others, forcing them to leave.
However, reality was completely different from what he imagined.
“Slap!” A crisp sound echoed through the room.
Before the long knife he held protectively to his chest could even move, the man felt a burning sensation on his face.
When he opened his eyes again, Vikram was already in front of him, staring at him with a mischievous smile.
Clutching his face, the sound from just now was him taking a solid slap from Vikram.
As the palm print gradually appeared, the man’s expression also changed.
“Damn it, I’ll fight you to the death!” With no other way out, he decided to fight Vikram with his long knife.
He had reacted quickly enough to escape from the water source earlier because he knew his side was no match for Vikram.
Now, after escaping so far only to be caught and slapped, he was incredibly frustrated.
If he hadn’t provoked them earlier and had just let them leave, perhaps nothing would have happened.
However, it was too late to say anything now. He raised his long knife high and brought it down towards Vikram’s head.
But Vikram, of course, would not let him have his way.
He also raised his arm and, before the blade could fall, quickly swung it.
The four people present, other than Vikram, didn’t even realize what was happening before the man’s arm, holding the knife, snapped.
The severed limb, along with the long knife, clattered to the ground. The battle was over before it even began.
Vikram, accustomed to the combat disparity brought by his physique, merely shrugged indifferently, his eyes fixed on the man writhing in pain on the ground.
“No… you can’t kill me! I’m Snape’s subordinate! If you dare to kill me, you won’t have an easy time either!”
With one arm severed, he slumped to the ground, his eyes filled with endless fear.
It was the first time he had seen a Survivor with Vikram’s strength; he couldn’t even muster the thought of escaping.
He could only slowly retreat while bringing up a name, hoping to scare Vikram and the other two away.
However, his plan backfired. Vikram, a survivor who only cared about collecting supplies, had never heard of such a person.
Even if he had, he had recently taken over the Savage Wolf Shelter, one of the three major Shelters.
So, he wouldn’t feel any pressure from such a force.
But even though he wasn’t scared, he still showed a hint of curiosity.
Seeing Vikram suddenly freeze, the man thought his method had actually worked and let out a long sigh of relief.
He immediately changed his tone and said, “Hmph, I suppose you wouldn’t dare to truly go against Boss Snape.”
“Today, you’ve messed with people you can’t afford to mess with, you know?”
“What if you’re strong? Which Shelter around here dares to speak loudly to Boss Snape’s subordinates?”
“You bastards, you cut off my arm, and you still dare to kill Boss Snape’s subordinate? You’re truly looking for death.”
The more the man spoke, the more confident he became, as if he was certain Vikram wouldn’t do anything more to him.
He didn’t notice that Vikram’s expression remained one of mere interest.
’This fool, he’s said almost everything without me even asking. It saves me the time of interrogating him.’
If the man knew what Vikram was thinking, he would probably commit suicide on the spot.
But he was clearly not that smart, and he continued to babble.
“Since you’re sensible, hurry up and get out. I’ll let today’s matter slide for now, otherwise, I’ll turn around and tell Boss Snape, and you’ll be in for it.”
Despite having a severed arm, his tone was now tougher than anyone else’s.
Mainly, he had no confidence and was afraid that Vikram and his companions were a bunch of hotheads who would just kill him, in which case he would be utterly helpless.
His tone now seemed full of vigor, but in reality, the meaning between the lines was for Vikram to leave quickly.
This way, at least he could escape a calamity.
However, Vikram would not just let him off for no reason.
Since he had been provoked, why would he let them go? Wouldn’t that be asking for trouble in the future?
Seeing that no more information would be revealed, and it wasn’t early anymore.
Vikram didn’t hesitate; he raised his hand and brought down the knife.
Under the gaze of terror and incomprehension, the man met his death.
The primary purpose of coming here was to find fish fry.
The information the man had revealed earlier was just an unexpected bonus.
Even after killing him, Vikram felt no regret.
After finishing all of this, Vikram put away his weapon and looked at the two.
“Spread out, see if you can find some normal freshwater fish.”
The two nodded and, without looking back, began to search the house.
As mentioned before, these Survivors looked thin and sallow, so naturally there wasn’t much good stuff in this house.
It was basically bare, so obvious items couldn’t be hidden, let alone equipment for raising fish.
The three quickly found a huge wooden barrel in a room resembling a bedroom.
The wooden barrel was about the size of an ancient bathing tub, and inside were the freshwater fish Vikram had been longing for.
However, the fish in the barrel were quite different from what Vikram had imagined.
He had originally thought these Survivors caught fish to raise them.
But judging by the seven or eight half-dead freshwater fish in the barrel, they were only keeping them as food.
He was about to say they were short-sighted, but remembering that they probably couldn’t even eat their fill, raising fish was indeed asking too much.
Fortunately, all these fish benefited Vikram today, saving him the time of fishing in the lake.
He had already scanned the fish in the barrel with the system and found that, except for a few that were almost dead, there were no other problems.
Seeing this, Vikram didn’t say a word and directly picked up both the fish and the barrel.
Seeing that there were no other noteworthy items in the Shelter to take away, Vikram started the RV directly and drove straight back to the territory.
Upon arriving near the Shelter, Vikram had intended to quickly settle the fish.
Looking at the Shelter’s gate, however, he frowned.
Standing in place, he immediately voiced his observation, “Something’s wrong, someone has been here!”
“Huh? How do you know?”
“There doesn’t seem to be anyone?” Anjali stretched her neck, looking around.
Vikram shook his head, “They’ve already left, but someone definitely scouted this area.”
“Every time I leave, I leave some marks outside the Shelter, and these marks clearly look like they’ve been disturbed.”
“Could it be wild animals passing through here?” Divya squatted down, poked around in the snow, and then said…
