Wasteland Hideout: Upgrading from the Sewers

Chapter 772: The Bio-Alchemy Core, Yu Yuan’s Unease

Mechanical Research Institute, Research Group 7.

“Energy Deflection Shield, test number 184 commencing…”

As the announcement sounded, a high-powered laser shot toward the shield. The instant it struck the multi-faceted energy barrier, however, its trajectory inexplicably bent. It skimmed past the shield and vanished over the horizon.

Data continued refreshing across the monitoring equipment.

“How is it? Does it meet the requirements?”

Masier walked over.

At her question, Ladiz turned to look at her, smiling with delight.

“Masier, it’s working perfectly. The angle of deflection was wrong last time because the energy transmission data was incorrect.”

“The Energy Deflection Shield is a success.”

Hearing this, Masier’s eyes curved into crescents as well.

“We have to thank you for finding the energy sensor design blueprints on the Mechanist Supremacy Forum.”

As she spoke, Masier’s smile faded.

“Notify Hammond as soon as possible! The Alchemical Dragon can move on to the next stage.”

-

The Bio-Alchemy World.

“Good news! The Energy Deflection Shield has been installed. Now all that’s left are the primary weapon, the Annihilation Energy Cannon, and the Plasma Mechanical Hybrid Core!”

Hearing this, Hammond lifted the protective goggles from his face. A trace of fatigue showed in his expression, but he still managed a faint smile.

“Really? Masier’s team is moving fast! I need to pick up the pace on my end, too.”

Looking at the Bio-Alchemy Core before him, Hammond couldn’t hide his excitement.

“The Legendary-tier core power system is finally calibrated.”

Then his smile faded, and he said in a low voice, “Notify everyone to prepare for the first test of the Bio-Alchemy Core.”

“Understood!”

As soon as Yu Yuan received word that the Bio-Alchemy Core was complete, he hurried over.

The Forbidden-grade aerial combat Fortress, the S-1 War Alchemy Dragon, used a dual-core power system: the Bio-Alchemy Core and the Plasma Mechanical Hybrid Core.

He had to witness this moment with his own eyes.

Hammond was ready, too. At his command, the alchemical heart, as large as a truck, began to tremble as electricity surged into it.

Thump, thump—

A powerful heartbeat sounded in their ears.

Thump, thump—

Another beat. Yu Yuan clearly saw the enormous alchemical heart begin to pulse.

On the monitoring equipment, the energy readings skyrocketed.

“This… this energy…”

“Five hundred thousand Nats, and still rising… Two million six hundred thousand Nats… Seven… seven million Nats…”

Once the Bio-Alchemy Core began beating steadily, its energy output stabilized at eleven million Nats.

Yu Yuan didn’t have much of a reaction to that figure. Puzzled, he looked at Hammond.

Hammond was trying hard to contain himself, but his excitement was still impossible to hide.

Noticing the confusion in Yu Yuan’s eyes, he immediately understood that the Leader didn’t know what the number meant, and explained, “Leader, ‘Nat’ is a term we use in biological alchemy. Converted into a unit we’re familiar with, the energy released by a nuclear bomb with a yield of five hundred tons is only 1.1 to 1.2 million Nats.”

Now Yu Yuan understood. He whipped around to look at the Bio-Alchemy heart.

The energy released with every beat of this heart was equivalent to that of a nuclear bomb with a yield of five thousand tons.

It was unbelievable.

The energy supplied by just one power core was already terrifying. If they added the Plasma Mechanical Hybrid Core, just how powerful would this Alchemical Dragon be?

“Once we finish building the Alchemical Dragon, Gold-tier… or even above Gold? Heh.”

-

In the days that followed, Yu Yuan continued Plundering the Ice Faith and Lava Faith every day.

Strangely, though, he could still sense the Eternal Frozen Tyrant’s presence in the Ice Faith Channel, but the oppressive, deathly chill he used to feel was gone. It was extremely odd.

When things deviated from the norm, trouble was sure to follow. After Yu Yuan and Mona thought it over without reaching any conclusions, they could only proceed with caution.

The Lava Faith had also undergone a change.

Perhaps the Frost Demon King’s situation had made the Molten Demon King think of himself. The Molten Demon King, who rarely checked his Faith Channel, had begun inspecting it frequently for anomalies.

Unfortunately, Yu Yuan was using the Molten Demon King’s aura and impersonating him. No matter how thoroughly he searched, he would find nothing.

Meanwhile, Mona entered the Frost Demon King’s mental world every day to investigate, gradually deepening her mental link with him.

That day, as usual, Mona entered the Frost Demon King’s mental world to explore.

But she returned soon afterward, her face showing both delight and shock.

Yu Yuan, standing guard nearby, immediately perked up.

“What happened?”

“I… I reached the depths of the Frost Demon King’s mental world… I saw a fragment of his most recent memory.”

“What!”

Yu Yuan’s pupils contracted.

“Are you sure?”

Mona nodded vigorously. Her breathing had grown slightly ragged, and she swallowed before saying, “The existences above Gold have reached a consensus. They must eliminate the Eternal Frozen Tyrant as soon as possible. Otherwise, the entire Rock Rank will become a land of ice, and the other factions will never again be able to replenish their ranks with new blood.”

“This…”

Yu Yuan’s thoughts raced.

Since the Transdimensional Council was preparing to move against the Eternal Frozen Tyrant, this was an opportunity for him, too.

His Plundering of the Ice Faith had stalled because of the Eternal Frozen Tyrant’s disguise authenticity.

If the Transdimensional Council could kill him, that would remove the last obstacle to Yu Yuan’s Plundering of the Ice Faith.

That was good news!

But could they actually do it?

Yu Yuan had serious doubts.

“Did you see who those Transcendent-level beings were?”

Mona shook her head. “I didn’t dare. When I heard them discussing the Eternal Frozen Tyrant, I was afraid that investigating the other beings might trigger pollution, so I didn’t look.”

She paused for two seconds, then seemed to consider something before slowly saying, “But one of the voices sounded like… the Blood Duke. I remember his voice.”

“Him?”

“Did he say anything?” There were no ordinary secrets surrounding the Blood Duke.

“He strongly urged them to eliminate the Eternal Frozen Tyrant as soon as possible. He mocked the Frost Demon King for ages, saying the Frost Demon King had been scared witless by an outsider and had disgraced the Transdimensional Council.”

Mona’s expression turned strange.

“The Frost Demon King looked furious on the surface, and nearly came to blows with the Blood Duke right there. But deep down, he was secretly delighted. Dragging the Transdimensional Council into this so they could help kill the Eternal Frozen Tyrant was exactly his plan.”

“So that’s how it is!”

-

“Leader, we successfully exchanged for the key blueprints for the Annihilation Energy Cannon and the Plasma Mechanical Hybrid Core.”

The four-armed Palu was unusually excited.

“This time, it cost 21 billion survival points. We have the Mechanical Leader to thank for granting Tallow two Grade-A exchange permissions. Otherwise, it really wouldn’t have been easy to get them.”

Hearing this, Yu Yuan let out a long breath as he looked at the tiny memory chip in his hand.

He had finally obtained the design blueprints for the Alchemical Dragon’s last components.

A glint flashed in his eyes. Lately, he had been feeling inexplicably uneasy.

“Get these to Hammond as soon as possible. Building the Alchemical Dragon cannot wait.”
