Chapter 1405: Chapter 598: Visiting the Empire

The birth of the child was a major event, and upon receiving the news, the first to respond was the current Steward of Musillon, Kasenberg. The Steward suggested Laine hold a grand banquet, celebrating the recovery of Musillon and the birth of his legitimate son.

"Hosting a banquet is not the goal. Through such events, showcase the Duke’s connections, his status, his control over the Kingdom, and most importantly, his newly gained heir." Kasenberg was very keen on this proposal, even strongly urging Laine to go all out.

Laine naturally understood that from Kasenberg’s perspective, he would wish for everything to be extravagant, because as the Steward, this event would provide him the opportunity to shine. Moreover, from his Winford standpoint, the birth of such a male infant from his own lady was naturally a cause for great joy for Kasenberg.

After a brief consideration, Laine also felt it was time to organize something grand.

Thus, during Devonhill’s full month celebration, Laine held an immensely grand banquet within his Duke’s Castle, proclaiming to the entire nation his power and the birth of his heir.

Everyone understood the significance within, and at the full-month banquet, all the Dukes of Brittania, including the rarely-locating Duke Hubert of Kakasong, came to attend the feast, creating a truly spectacular scene.

Even the long-imprisoned former King John II and Richard, who currently remained on the throne, attended. John II, with his hair completely white and face covered in dark age spots, shed tears upon seeing the Lake Fairy appear. Kneeling a few times, he was then led away by close attendants, with a small table set up in the corner for him to enjoy the feast alone.

Throughout the process, the Lake Fairy did not spare even a glance his way or utter a word.

Richard also took the initiative to approach Laine for a toast. With a cup of red wine downed, the grudges of these years were considered resolved. Likewise, Richard appeared much aged and lightly patted Laine’s arm: "The future is yours now, this Kingdom, there’s no need for more words."

Laine silently nodded.

Besides this, the Empire, Estalia, Tiriel, Wood Elves, and Karak Breeze Castle all sent envoys to offer congratulations, such an immense scene demonstrated Laine’s strength to all.

Halfway through the banquet, Surya emerged with Devonhill to meet everyone, the female Knight having recovered her body to almost perfect condition just about a week after giving birth, with some effort spent on exercising to quickly regain her pre-pregnancy figure.

At that time, the female Knight was faced only with congratulations and blessings, the noble ladies surrounded her like stars clustered around the moon, constantly inquiring, as everyone understood the meaning of an heir.

Little infant Devonhill seldom cried, liking instead to widen his eyes to observe the world. After a month of nurturing, the rosy, adorable, white and chubby infant was very captivating, especially since he did not cry or fuss, even uttering a few sounds and already understanding some basic language, occasionally smiling or waving small fists, causing a collective outbreak of squeals among the noble ladies, each vying to hold him.

Laine had already chosen a godfather for the child, none other than Count Kaled-Galament of the Bastogne Duchy. This Holy Sanctuary Holy Grail Knight would serve as Devonhill’s godfather.

Kaled possessed significant power, outstanding virtues, suitable age, and maintained good private relations with Laine, with Surya fully supporting Laine’s intent. Upon learning he was selected as Devonhill’s godfather, Kaled felt quite flattered but did not decline, rather accepted Laine’s request very earnestly.

Following the banquet’s conclusion, Fugen also led his forces away, his affairs numerous and unable to linger long.

The Primarch’s appearance in Brittania indeed caused quite a stir, reportedly receiving over a hundred love letters during this time.

Though Fugen left, the Norsca woman Ingrid stayed behind.

This brings up a major "incident" that occurred a few days before the banquet.

At the banquet site then, the Female Norsca confronted Temple Knight Alfred, intentionally provoking him.

"The hero who conquered Musillon looks just so, you’re even half a head shorter than me!" The 185cm tall Female Barbarian stood before Alfred.

"If this Lady doesn’t mind, I can immediately level the gap between us." Alfred wasn’t willing to show weakness. The Temple Knight Commander had now achieved fame, being a renowned hero in the Old World, his deeds already well-spread, naturally possessing some pride.

Thus, both sides found a place for a duel of honor.

The outcome was a tie, Alfred and Ingrid battled for half a day without determining superiority, yet it provided a satisfying fight for the Barbarian, and for some reason, Alfred suddenly proposed hiring the Woman Norsca, stating the church district needed such a Legendary Powerhouse to anchor it. With Alfred’s offer being attractive, Ingrid was quite tempted and ultimately stayed after Fugen’s consent.
