Chapter 1404: Chapter 597: Becoming a Father! (Part 3)

"Surya, you’ve worked hard." Laine, completely baffled, could only shift his attention to his wife for the moment. He took Surya’s hand, deeply moved. "This is the fruit of our love."

"Laine, my husband." The Lady Knight was also delighted that she could bear a child for Laine. She spoke gently: "And don’t get hung up on the child calling me ’Mother’. I, as the mother, don’t mind at all—so why should you?"

"But..." Laine trailed off, wanting to say more.

"You hear that, my Champion? Your lady wife doesn’t mind, yet you’re still brooding over it." The Lake Fairy squeezed in between the two of them, cradling the child. The Goddess was in very high spirits today. She thought for a moment, decided to use Elf Language, then stretched out a slender jade-white finger and touched Devonhill’s forehead.

"Child, at the very moment of your birth, the whole Charon Forest whispered your name—Devonhill!"

"We will..."

"Wait!" Laine’s expression grew even uglier. Something suddenly occurred to him, and he hurriedly motioned for the Lake Fairy to stop. "Can you change the lines? My Lady? I don’t like that one, it’s far too ominous."

"Devonhill, you are the proud star, you are the hope of this world. The great wheel of history has begun to turn once more, a new era has already dawned, the Moment of Destruction lies not far ahead, the Chaos Eternal God Chosen has appeared in this world. We stand on the brink of the most terrible war. In Arthur’s name, no crown endures forever. May all the gods bless you!" The Lake Fairy found it a bit strange that Laine was so agitated, but she still altered the blessing-poem.

With the Goddess’s blessing, a golden Holy Grail Mark was branded upon Devonhill’s forehead, then faded and sank into his body.

"Surya and I will raise this child." After casting a Great Curse Technique, the Lake Fairy seemed to have spent a great deal of Divine Power, and looked rather tired. "If I’ve ’tampered’ with anything, it’s only just now—and I’ve held nothing back. Laine, please don’t always look at me as if I’m up to something."

"Mm." Laine thought to himself, Isn’t it precisely because you’re always stirring up trouble, full of schemes, and constantly making decisions without talking to me first, that I keep suspecting you?

"Laine~" Surya laughed so hard she practically blossomed, then leaned in gently, resting against Laine’s shoulder. "Thank you. I’m really happy. Thank you. Being like this...I’m very glad."

"Me too, my lady." Laine looked down at the little baby, and his heart warmed. He spoke softly: "Rest well. Everything outside, I’ll take care of it."

"Exactly, this is what a family of four should be like!" Surya was especially pleased with the current situation. She held out her hand. "Me, the Lady, you, and Devonhill—if the four of us stand united, we’ll definitely overcome every hardship!"

"You heard that, Laine!" The Lake Fairy also put out her hand and pressed it atop Surya’s. "This is Surya’s idea, you know!"

"I understand." Laine could only give a bitter smile. He truly had no grounds for resistance at all.

So as not to disturb Surya, after saying a few more words, Laine and the Lake Fairy left the room to let Surya rest. Though the Lady Knight didn’t really look all that tired—she seemed quite energetic.

"Laine, when are you planning to go to the Empire?" The Lake Fairy casually asked, cradling the newborn.

"Roughly in January next year. I’m planning to take Surya, Devonhill, and Ollica to visit the Empire together, to deepen our bilateral relations!" Laine nodded with a smile. "Bringing the heir on an official visit to the Empire—there’s no need to spell out what that signifies."

"Excellent. When the time comes, I’ll go with you!"
