War God Long Ao

Chapter 574: Power of Origin

  • Next Chapter

Having successfully slain three Holy Beasts, Long Ao did not let his guard down in the slightest.

Long Ao was completely unaware that the Chaos Stele had accepted him as its master.

Afterward, Long Ao focused wholeheartedly on slaying Holy Beasts. In just three short days, he had successfully slain ten of them, although they were all only First Level.

Even so, Long Ao was quite satisfied. With ten Holy Beast Corpse Slaves standing guard over the Long Family, even a Sacred Land would likely have to think twice before acting.

With the Holy Beast Corpse Slaves taken care of, Long Ao didn’t leave Spirit Beast Mountain immediately. Instead, he prepared to search for the so-called treasure.

It was no joke. A treasure capable of affecting the Chaos Stele… he could only imagine what it might be.

Deciding to give it a try, Long Ao focused his senses on the Chaos Stele.

His expression flickered. At first, Long Ao thought he was hallucinating. But after concentrating several times, he was thrilled to discover that for some unknown reason, he could now sense a response from the Chaos Stele.

Since that was the case, Long Ao didn’t dare to be careless and immediately began to focus his senses on the Chaos Stele.

The Ancient Divine Dragon had once told him that the Twelve-sided Chaos Stone Tablet of Heaven and Earth was the most powerful existence. If Long Ao wanted to become a peerless expert, he first had to comprehend the Super Martial Skill contained within the Chaos Stele.

To Long Ao’s disappointment, however, while he could faintly sense the Chaos Stele, he couldn’t comprehend the Martial Arts within it.

There was nothing to be done. Long Ao knew that comprehending Martial Arts wasn’t something that could be accomplished overnight.

Long Ao continued to focus his senses quietly, hoping to glean some small clue from the Chaos Stele.

Sure enough, as he quietly focused, he perceived a faint, thread-like aura from the Chaos Stele pointing somewhere to his left. He still didn’t know the specific location, however.

Overjoyed, Long Ao immediately followed the sensation, speeding off to the left.

He arrived before a massive cliff face.

“This must be the place.”

Long Ao had kept his senses focused on the Chaos Stele the entire time. By the time he arrived, the aura from the Stele was incredibly strong. He knew with certainty that the so-called treasure must be within this cliff.

Long Ao began to search, and before long, he found a passageway.

Delighted, Long Ao cautiously entered the tunnel and made his way forward.

The passage opened up into a vast cavern.

The cavern was clearly a natural formation. The moment Long Ao stepped inside, his eyes went wide in disbelief.

A Giant Dragon.

A Five-Clawed Golden Dragon.

There, in the very center of the cavern, lay the colossal skeleton of a Five-Clawed Golden Dragon. Even as mere bones, the aura it emanated was powerful enough to destroy everything.

Long Ao, of course, knew of the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon. As one of the most powerful branches of the Dragon Race, they were incredibly strong—they had even produced a Dragon God. It was easy to imagine what the name “Five-Clawed Golden Dragon” represented.

Gazing at the skeleton before him, Long Ao suddenly realized something: even now, he still had no idea what race Long Qiang belonged to.

The Five-Clawed Golden Dragon was one of the most powerful types of Giant Dragon in the world. Long Ao found it hard to fathom why the skeleton of one would be here in this cavern.

Not daring to be the slightest bit careless, Long Ao warily scanned his surroundings. He couldn’t imagine what this place was, but the mere presence of a Five-Clawed Golden Dragon’s skeleton told him it was far from simple.

Inside the Dragon Seal Space.

“Long Fu, can you sense if there’s any danger in this cavern?”

Long Ao had great faith in Long Fu, but Long Fu’s expression was grim. This was the first time he’d ever seen Long Fu like this, which only made Long Ao feel that something was very wrong.

“Master, you should leave this place at once. With your current strength, it’s impossible for you to obtain what’s here.”

“Why is that?”

The more Long Fu insisted, the more curious Long Ao became.

“Master, the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon you just saw possessed power second only to the old master, yet it died here. Do you know why?”

‘I don’t even have to ask,’ Long Ao thought. ‘It must have tried to seize the treasure here and ended up dying for it.’

“Master, I can tell you this much: if that Five-Clawed Golden Dragon hadn’t died, its power would have been comparable to the old master’s after its next breakthrough. But it was precisely because it found this place that it unfortunately ended up Fallen.”

Shocked, Long Ao never would have imagined the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon was that powerful. He knew perfectly well how strong the Ancient Divine Dragon was. ‘If even a Five-Clawed Golden Dragon died here…’ he thought, a sense of dread creeping in.

“Long Fu, just tell me the truth.”

Long Fu, of course, understood his master’s personality very well.

Long Fu thought for a moment before finally speaking. “Master, since you want to know, I will tell you. But you must promise me that no matter what, you won’t touch anything here. Do you understand?”

Seeing how gravely Long Fu spoke, Long Ao nodded. “I know what I’m doing.”

“Master, I’m sure you know of the Celestial Dao. As the most powerful Martial Artist in Heaven and Earth, the power it possesses is the Power of Origin.”

Long Ao didn’t understand what Long Fu was getting at. ‘What does the Celestial Dao’s power have to do with this?’

‘Could it be… that there’s Power of Origin in this cavern?’

Long Ao was no fool; in fact, he was very sharp and instantly grasped the meaning behind Long Fu’s words. Long Fu nodded. “Master, I believe you’ve already guessed. That’s right. This place does indeed contain the Power of Origin. The moment you touch it, the Celestial Dao will know instantly. And no matter who it is, the Celestial Dao will obliterate them.”

“Long Fu, are you saying that on the entire Celestial Martial Continent, only the Celestial Dao possesses the Power of Origin?”

“That’s right. Back then, it was precisely because the two old masters discovered a Land of Origin that they were hunted down by the Celestial Dao and ultimately ended up Fallen. If the two old masters had managed to obtain the Power of Origin, then the Celestial Dao would not be the sole ruler of this world.”

So that was how it was. Long Ao felt a surge of anticipation for the Power of Origin. ‘Long Fu just said that in all of Heaven and Earth, only the Celestial Dao possesses such power,’ he thought. ‘If I could obtain it, wouldn’t I become an existence on par with the Celestial Dao?’

‘If that were the case, then slaying the Celestial Dao wouldn’t be such a difficult task.’

As if thinking of something, Long Ao asked, “Long Fu, according to you, there are many places in this world that possess the Power of Origin?”

“Exactly. However, Master, every Land of Origin is guarded by a clone of the Celestial Dao. Therefore, it’s impossible for anyone to obtain the Power of Origin. You should leave this place as quickly as possible. Once the Celestial Dao discovers you…”

Long Fu didn’t finish his sentence, but his meaning was crystal clear, and Long Ao certainly understood. Yet, the Power of Origin could help him achieve strength on par with the Celestial Dao. He was truly unwilling to just give up on it.
