Chapter 118- Situation

Venera instantly flipped around, grabbed the boy’s arm, and threw him off her shoulder as if he weighed nothing. The boy looked really heavy, and yet it didn’t seem to be a problem to Venera at all. She could easily lift things that were several times her weight after training and hunting so many monsters.

She now has 30 points in almost all her stats, which made her three times stronger than a normal human.

*BANG*

The boy slammed into the ground violently as he coughed all the air out of his lungs painfully. He stared up, eyes wide, as he saw Venera reach down and take his badge before she walked away as if nothing had happened.

"W-Wait! Cough! Cough!!!"

The girl ignored him as she approached the gates. Outside, there were several people who noticed her presence as she approached the gates. Some didn’t stop their fights, while others thought that this girl looked like a perfect opportunity for badges, especially with the bag she was carrying on her shoulder.

As she reached for the door, several people tried to take her bag. However, like a ghost, Venera disappeared and appeared behind them and in less than a second, tackled them all down before they could react.

"Woah!"

"What the fuck!!!"

"Don’t get in my way," Venera said coldly as she picked the badges she could find. Each one that tried to struggle or fight back would get stomped mercilessly. Venera wasn’t in a good enough mood to excuse them, even if they aren’t really her enemy. They still want to take her down, and that is more than enough for her to treat them as enemies.

The others around them watched the scenes with shock in their eyes. The way that girl moved looked utterly terrifying. A hit from her would probably send them flying, or they would get knocked cold.

As they looked at each other, they understood one new rule added to the set of rules the academy put forth for this test.

’Don’t mess with that girl. Whoever she is.’

Walking into the building, all Venera could see was a huge mess. Tables turned, windows broken, and it looked as if a tornado had swept the place and left nothing behind for anyone. There were many people inside, filling the first floor and the stairs that led to the second floor.

Venera felt the vibe was very off inside almost immediately as she walked in. While she could hear the fights ensuing in the higher floors, the people inside were considerably tamer than the outside.

She stared at their faces coldly and noticed an interesting detail... They all looked tired... extremely so.

They had bruises, bloodied injuries and all kinds of marks of brutal fights. It had been more than an hour since they started fighting and they were completely exhausted. So, they ended up sitting there, trying to recover even next to their own enemies.

It was comical how their glares betrayed their wrecked bodies. Walking through the mess, she eyed the candidates silently as she made her way to the stairs.

’If I could get a higher position in the building, I might be able to start sweeping down and taking all the badges that I need. I already gathered a very good amount.’ She thought to herself. Her plan was simply, taking high ground would make it easier for her to find her targets and close down their escape routes.

It was a simple tactic she learned when she was a kid in her many classes. ’I might also be able to pinpoint locations that Rize might’ve headed to. Knowing him, he wouldn’t just roam the city endlessly. He would look for good positions to take advantage of.’

As she thought about all the possibilities, she made her way to the second floor, sweeping through it for any badges. Then, she moved to the floor after and the floor after, taking every badge she can find.

Her methods were violent but within her own limit. She didn’t want to beat anyone up for no reason except if they were asking for it. Many of them couldn’t even put up a good fight so it was basically as one sided as it could get.

Eventually, after sweeping every floor for almost 30 minutes, she made it to the highest one which was also the emptiest. She looked around the place.

’No one is here.’ She thought to herself as she walked into the floor and approached the windows, staring down at the entire dome. From this place, she finally had an idea of the sheer scale of this place.

’That man’s ability is utterly ridiculous.’ She mused. Venera couldn’t fathom how someone could actually build a place this size with a snap of their finger and that man was probably not even a Tier 3 Awakened and rather a Tier 4.

Then, it made her think of something else. If that’s what a Tier 4 awakened is capable of, what could her father, who is a peak Tier 2 awakened could do?

That man’s powers are simply incomprehensible and even she never had the opportunity to even see 1% of it.

’He is capable of wiping an entire nation off the face of this world and it wouldn’t take him much effort either.’

That was the kind of power Venera had to face and not only that, but take down. She was so far away from it that it appeared like a distant star in the sky. However, a distant star is still something that exists even if it was far away. She just had to travel that astronomical distance and she knew she could.

Shaking those thoughts away, Venera looked down as she started sweeping the city with her eyes, feeling as if everything was simply an ant from this distance.

She could see many people moving around constantly, but naturally, no sign of Rize. At least not from this distance. However, at the same time, there weren’t any particular locations that stood out to her. The city was incredibly dense and there were thousands of buildings everywhere. Finding that boy was like searching for a needle in a haystack and that haystack surrounded by thousands of other haystacks.

"Sigh." She exhaled tiredly before she turned around to walk back down. However, at that moment, her eyes noticed something down there.

"Hm?" She hummed as she walked back to the window. "Is that..."

Down there, Venera saw Fate and his group as they walked toward the entrance. Their numbers had increased again, and they were now over a dozen. She frowned upon seeing that, and her expression only darkened when she realized that they were walking into the building.

Venera didn’t want to encounter him at all. ’I need to hide somewhere. But I doubt that would be too useful. Tsk, this is annoying.’

She tried to think of another solution, but her options were limited. So, instead, she decided to walk down to the other floors and see what she can work with.

Meeting Fate again, at this moment in time was a hassle she didn’t want to deal with. Except Venera wasn’t aware that things were only about to get even more messy.

"How many do you have now?" Rose asked as she picked a new badge.

"A few hundred," Rize replied as he checked his pouch. "I think it’s a pretty decent amount so far."

’We have been hunting for almost two hours now. There is one hour left in the entire test. Things are oddly calming down.’

The noise of battle died down quite a bit as the time ticked. The reason for that was mainly exhaustion, but the fact that people were teaming up and being more strategic about their attacks made the fights less frequent but more brutal.

Rize and Rose had encountered several groups during that time, and while they were easy to handle, it made them realize that things weren’t going to be easy in the last hour. They had to find a good location to lay low quickly.

So, their eyes led them to the highest building in the dome. It didn’t seem to be empty, naturally, but the fact that it was so high made it a good spot to scan your surroundings.

So, they decided to slowly work their way toward that place. As they got closer and closer, they noticed that the vibe changed.

Many people were laying on the ground, in pain or trying to recover. Looks of fear appeared on their faces.

"M-Monsters... They’re all monsters..." Rize heard a traumatized guy mutter as he rested against the wall. But he wasn’t the only one; dozens and dozens of people riddled the area. What they shared in common was that none of them had their badges on.

"Hm?"

"What happened here?" Rose asked.

"Beat me," Rize replied. "They look like they’ve seen a ghost." He squinted. ’No badges explain what happened but... I wonder who did that to them.’
