Villainess Rampage: The Whole Sect Begs for Mercy
Chapter 602 - 609: The Clan Leader’s Mission
Song Wanning’s heart tightened at his words. ’I don’t know if the Snake Clan’s Clan Leader is testing me, or...’
She shook her head, a puzzled look on her face.
The Snake Clan’s Clan Leader chuckled. "You were only two years old back then. It’s normal that you don’t remember."
He continued, pointing at the map, "There is something very important in this location. I hope you can help our Snake Clan retrieve it. If you do, we might just be able to put Gong Ye to death!"
"But this matter must be kept secret. Absolutely no one else can know..."
The item he wanted A Jiu to find was a forbidden object of the Snake Clan; others couldn’t be allowed to know about it.
He had chosen A Jiu because he knew she had always been resentful of Gong Ye and would surely seize this opportunity.
"Rest assured, Clan Leader. A Jiu will definitely complete the mission."
Song Wanning nodded and quickly lowered her voice. "But, Clan Leader, the item you mentioned is..."
The Clan Leader gave a mysterious smile, leaned close to Song Wanning’s ear, and whispered something.
In truth, Song Wanning had no idea what it was, but she still played along, putting on a shocked expression.
After all, judging by the Clan Leader’s attitude, this item was clearly no simple matter.
"Heh heh, whether or not we can kill Gong Ye is all up to you!"
The Clan Leader patted Song Wanning’s shoulder, a look of deep expectation flashing in his eyes.
Song Wanning was instantly fired up, promising repeatedly that she would absolutely complete the mission before finally leaving with the map.
The Clan Leader watched her leave with great satisfaction. If the clan had more talented disciples like A Jiu, the Snake Clan’s status could rise again in the future.
’What a pity,’ he thought. ’The younger generation of the Snake Clan has been getting worse and worse in recent years.’
When they finally produced a talent like Gong Ye, he turned out to be a piece of trash who betrayed the clan.
"Sigh!"
The Clan Leader let out a heavy sigh. He hoped that this time, they could kill Gong Ye for good.
Otherwise, he truly feared Gong Ye would retaliate against the Snake Clan.
...
"Master, the Clan Leader didn’t give you any trouble, did he?"
The moment She Yi saw Song Wanning, he rushed over to greet her, his expression filled with concern.
He and Song Wanning were in the same boat now; nothing could be allowed to happen to her.
"He assigned me a mission."
Song Wanning walked into the courtyard and set up an isolation barrier around them before revealing the Clan Leader’s objective.
"What? The Clan Leader wants you to find the Snake Yin Flower?"
She Yi was so shocked he nearly jumped out of his skin.
Seeing his reaction, the Fox Demon turned to him. "What’s a Snake Yin Flower?"
"Why are you reacting so strongly?"
Song Wanning also looked over, filled with curiosity. ’It seems this thing really isn’t simple.’
She Yi sighed and explained helplessly, "The Snake Yin Flower is the bane of the Snake Clan, and it’s our clan’s forbidden flower."
"We of the Snake Clan can’t even touch it. Why would the Clan Leader ask you to find it?"
The subject of the Snake Yin Flower had been drilled into them since childhood. The fear of it was carved into their very Divine Souls.
’Now the Clan Leader has given Song Wanning this task... I wonder what he means by it?’
"Could it be that he’s discovered your true identity, Master?"
She Yi began to pace around the room anxiously, muttering, "No, that’s not right either. If he knew, then he’d also know the Snake Yin Flower is useless against you, so he couldn’t kill you with it!"
The more he thought, the more confused he became. When he turned around, he saw that Song Wanning was already sitting at the table, sipping tea...
She Yi froze, then plopped down onto a stool.
"Forget it, forget it! I see you’re not worried at all, Master. I’m the only one here worrying for nothing!"
He could tell that Song Wanning wasn’t the least bit nervous; he was the only one panicking.
The Fox Demon snorted with laughter. ’She Yi really is a bit of a fool,’ she thought.
Song Wanning gave She Yi an amused glance. "The Clan Leader wants me to find Snake Yin Grass to use against Gong Ye!"
"It seems he genuinely wants to kill Gong Ye."
’Since we share the same goal, there’s no reason to refuse. In fact, I should strive to complete the mission.’
"Huh? So it’s to deal with Gong Ye?"
Hearing the truth, a great weight was finally lifted from She Yi’s shoulders.
"Then I’m relieved. As long as he doesn’t suspect your identity, Master."
She Yi’s feelings toward Song Wanning were now very complicated. He genuinely wished her well, but he also longed for freedom.
Unfortunately, now that he had become a demon pet, he had no freedom to speak of.
She Yi sulked off to the side. The Fox Demon gave him a bewildered look; she always felt he was a bit too sentimental, his moods even more volatile than her own.
A hint of disdain appeared in her eyes as she took the initiative to ask Song Wanning if she needed her to come along.
Song Wanning didn’t take her. After all, the Clan Leader had said this was a secret. What would it look like, bringing a "concubine" along?
So, early the next morning, she left the Snake Clan’s territory under the pretext of going out to complete her mission.
According to the map, she now needed to head east.
Following the map, she began to travel east.
She had expected the journey to be smooth, but not long after setting out, she came across a group of people being chased by monsters.
It was a group of people in uniform attire—Human Cultivators.
For some reason, however, this group had appeared together in the Demon Clan Territory.
"Run!!!"
Behind them was a horde of countless monsters.
The monsters pursued the group at incredible speed.
They fought back as they ran, but it looked like their Spiritual Power was nearly depleted.
"This is bad! I’m almost out of Spiritual Power! What the hell are these monsters? There are so many of them, we can’t kill them all!"
"Everyone, scatter! It might be our only chance to survive!"
Someone shouted, and the group immediately split up, each person searching for a place to hide.
Song Wanning, who normally wouldn’t meddle in others’ affairs, frowned deeply at the sight.
Her heart sank as she stared at the innumerable monsters.
Then she brandished her Longsword and charged toward the horde.
She swung her sword, and several monsters at the front of the pack were targeted, instantly sliced in half by the blade’s light before falling from the sky.
Seeing that someone had come to help, the group was overjoyed.
"Senior, please, Senior, save us!!!"
They saw a glimmer of hope and immediately began to plead.
Song Wanning glanced at them before continuing her assault on the monsters.
She took out an Array Plate, intending to trap all the monsters in one fell swoop, leaving none to escape.
But there were too many monsters. Killing them one by one would take too much time.
Song Wanning’s expression hardened, and she directly summoned the Nine Heavens Divine Thunder.
BOOM—
BOOM—
BOOM—
Streaks of Divine Thunder struck down one after another. The monsters let out wretched screams as they were turned into piles of ash and scattered into the air.
As for the group of Human Cultivators, they were completely dumbfounded.
Not until the very last monster was annihilated did the group snap out of it, as if waking from a dream. They stared at Song Wanning with awe and admiration.
"Thank you for saving our lives, Senior!!!"
The group bowed in unison to Song Wanning, their gratitude impossible to conceal.
But Song Wanning only looked at them coldly. "Where did you find these monsters?"
