On the surface of the small pit was a tiny opening.

Divine Sense couldn’t penetrate it, which made it look very suspicious.

"This must be the place."

Baili Shang carefully parted the surrounding grass, his eyes falling on the tiny hole.

Who would normally notice such a nearly invisible opening in a patch of grass?

Song Wanning nodded and said to Baili Shang, "Set up the array first. We’ll have it cornered."

"Alright!"

Baili Shang took out several array plates and completely encircled the entire field of medicinal herbs.

Once their preparations were complete, Song Wanning and Baili Shang exchanged a look and decided to start with one of the holes.

Song Wanning stood to the side, her longsword gripped tightly, ready to strike at a moment’s notice.

Baili Shang, on the other hand, launched an attack at the small hole.

He casually threw a fireball, sending it flying into the opening.

The originally tiny opening was blasted into a much larger gap upon impact.

The fireball then continued deep underground.

Song Wanning and Baili Shang’s gazes sharpened, their eyes fixed on the opening.

Finally, as the fireball reached the depths, a pitch-black thing suddenly shot out from underground.

It moved with incredible speed. Both Song Wanning and Baili Shang attacked at once, but they didn’t even manage to graze the monster’s hide.

When their attacks dissipated, the monster was already assaulting the array.

Finding its assault unsuccessful, the monster let out a series of panicked squeals.

’So it really is here!’

Baili Shang was inwardly delighted. ’Now that we’ve found its nest, this will be easy!’

"I’ll handle this."

He let out a low shout and charged the monster.

Even with its incredible speed, the monster was facing an Integration Stage Cultivator.

With the array blocking its path and cutting off any retreat, it was now completely cornered.

After a few exchanges, the monster was on its last breath, but its blood-colored eyes grew even redder, glowing with a thick, sanguine light.

Though they had no pupils, those eyes seemed to stare fixedly at them, filled with a hatred so intense it was as if the creature wanted to devour them alive.

Baili Shang seized the monster by its vital point and carried it over to Song Wanning.

"SQUEEE—"

The monster shrieked defiantly. On its sharp claws, remnants of blood could still be seen.

Song Wanning stared at the monster before her, a growing sense of unease creeping into her heart.

’It’s exactly the same as the monsters in the Lower World. I can only hope a monster tide hasn’t erupted there, and that the Song Family is safe.’

"What do you plan to do with it?"

she asked Baili Shang.

’This is the territory of the Demon Clan, so naturally, the Demon Palace has the final say.’

"Kill it!"

Baili Shang was decisive. These monsters were a danger as long as they were alive, especially since they knew so little about them. Killing it sooner would bring peace of mind sooner.

Song Wanning said nothing, watching as Baili Shang killed the monster.

But there was no trace of joy on her face. The monster’s combat power wasn’t particularly high, but they were fast and numerous. If they truly became an opposing force, their sheer numbers would be enough to drive one to despair.

And if a cultivator was ambushed and had their heart snatched out, their life was over.

Song Wanning sighed. ’This whole business feels even more troublesome than the invaders.’

Baili Shang noticed her mood and couldn’t help but feel worried as well.

"Let’s see if there are any other monsters!"

He frowned and began searching the other small pits.

This time, he and Song Wanning split up, quickly forcing out the other monsters one by one.

They killed one, and another appeared.

They were like bamboo shoots after a spring rain, popping up endlessly.

The expressions on Song Wanning and Baili Shang’s faces grew darker, and their attacks became increasingly ruthless.

The monsters all died horribly, leaving not even bones behind.

By now, people from the Demon Palace had begun to arrive. Seeing so many monsters, they were all astonished.

But with the array in place, they couldn’t enter to help and could only watch helplessly.

"So many monsters! I thought there was only one!"

"Yeah, but from the looks of it, their combat power is average. The Young Master and his companion can handle them!"

"Sigh, at least our brothers are being avenged!"

They discussed in low voices, clearly not realizing the gravity of the situation.

But the Demon King’s expression was grim. He felt a strange sense of unease.

Those like him, who were close to ascension, could often sense feedback from the Heavenly Dao. At this moment, his bad premonition was so strong it made his chest feel tight.

Finally, after one hour, the two of them had cleared out all the monsters, leaving only a field of mangled limbs and blood-soaked earth.

Baili Shang stopped his attacks, his face grave as he put away the array plates.

Song Wanning sheathed her longsword, her gaze sweeping over the blood-drenched ground. For a moment, she was transported back to the moment of the Golden Dragon Clan’s sacrifice.

That past experience now cast a shadow over her, making her worry for her relatives in the Lower World.

At this moment, she finally understood why so many Immortals tried every means possible to contact the Lower World.

"Father, you’re here!"

Baili Shang walked to the Demon King’s side and gave him a meaningful look.

The father and son stepped aside, and Baili Shang proceeded to tell the Demon King about the danger these monsters posed.

Upon learning that the entire Golden Dragon Clan had been wiped out while fighting these monsters, the Demon King’s face paled. He finally understood the source of his unease.

’The monsters are that terrifying.’

’Right now, this isn’t just a matter for our Demon Clan anymore.’

"I understand. I’ll spread the word immediately and find a way to get the other powers to pay attention to this matter."

The Demon King glanced at Song Wanning, who stood amidst the pools of blood. A complex look flickered in his eyes before he led his men away.

The situation was extremely dire. He had to inform the others as quickly as possible.

After everyone from the Demon Palace had left, Song Wanning stood for a moment longer before deciding to leave as well.

She was worried about the Song Family and wanted to merge the two worlds as soon as possible to prevent her family from falling into danger.

As for Gong Ye, he was thrown to the back of her mind.

After all, she could still kill Gong Ye after the two worlds merged. It was only a matter of time.

At this thought, Song Wanning could no longer sit still.

"I have something to attend to, so I’m leaving. I’ll leave this matter in the hands of your Demon Clan. Contact me if you run into any problems!"

She gave Baili Shang no chance to stop her. The moment she finished speaking, she mounted her flying sword and flew away without a backward glance.

"Wan..."

Baili Shang watched in a daze as Song Wanning flew away, his mouth slightly agape, but he didn’t call out again.

’From the way she looked, she must have had something extremely urgent to do.’

’I shouldn’t bother her.’

Baili Shang stood there for a long time before finally shaking his head with a helpless smile.

Who would have thought that someone as proud as him would have a moment of such insecurity?

But he wasn’t discouraged. ’Since Song Wanning is worried about the monsters, I’ll find a way to deal with them completely and ease her worries!’
