High above the battlefield, the real fight was only getting more intense.

Several elders from the Blue Mist Sect clashed directly against elders of the Nether Blood Moon Sect, their Qi colliding violently enough to shake the clouds around them.

BOOOOOOM!

A Blue Mist Sect elder swung his sword, sending a massive wave of pale-blue mist Qi surging forward. "You bastards!"

His furious voice thundered across the battlefield. "How dare the Nether Blood Moon Sect invade our territory?! Have you forgotten the agreement between our sects?!"

The crimson-robed elder opposite him burst into mocking laughter. "Hahaha! Agreement?"

Blood Qi gathered around both of his hands before condensing into several crimson blades. "You righteous hypocrites really fucking love talking about agreements when you’re the ones losing!"

The Blue Mist Sect elder’s face darkened. "You planted spies inside our sect, stole our secrets, sabotaged our formations, and now you dare call us hypocrites?!"

The demonic elder shamelessly spread his arms. "So what? You already know what kind of sect we are! We’ve always done shit like this!"

For a moment, the Blue Mist Sect elder actually choked on his own anger.

His face twitched as though he had prepared a hundred accusations but hadn’t expected the bastard to simply admit everything.

The Nether Blood Moon Sect elder continued without the slightest shame. "Strength decides everything! If your Blue Mist Sect was strong enough, our spies would’ve never succeeded in the first place!"

The elder’s face immediately turned red with rage. "You shameless piece of shit!"

SWOOOOSH!

He attacked again, sending several enormous mist-covered sword lights tearing through the sky.

Another elder from the Nether Blood Moon Sect suddenly joined the fight and swept her hand forward.

A gigantic crimson crescent ripped across the clouds as she shouted, "Your sect has controlled these mountains and spirit mines for hundreds of years!"

She let out a cold laugh as the crimson crescent descended. "Did you seriously think nobody else would ever want them?"

A second Blue Mist Sect elder rushed forward and slammed both palms outward.

BOOOOM!

A massive wall of condensed mist appeared in front of him, crashing directly against the crimson crescent. "You demonic scum only know how to steal!"

The female elder snorted. "And you righteous sects call it ’inheritance’ whenever you steal territory from someone weaker than you."

The Blue Mist Sect elder’s expression immediately twisted. "Shut your damn mouth!"

Another explosion shook the sky as the elders resumed blasting techniques at one another.

From their position on the distant hill, Damian silently watched the entire argument unfold.

Damian finally scratched the side of his mask. "Why the hell does every sect war sound exactly like this?"

Linsey glanced toward him, already sounding amused. "Like what?"

Damian dramatically raised both hands and deepened his voice. "’How dare you invade us?!’"

He immediately switched sides and pointed arrogantly toward the battlefield. "’Strength decides everything, you righteous hypocrites!’"

He waved his hands around again. "’You stole our treasures!’ ’Your sect is weak!’ ’You demonic dogs!’ ’You righteous assholes!’"

Damian dropped his arms. "Same damn script every fucking time."

Cassandra immediately burst into laughter. "Hahaha! Shameless bastard, that was actually pretty accurate."

Linsey covered her mouth behind her mask, her shoulders shaking. "Master, you sounded exactly like them."

Damian pointed at her. "See? I could become an elder tomorrow."

"Please don’t," Evelyn said flatly.

Damian slowly turned toward her. "Why not?"

Evelyn didn’t even look at him. Her attention remained fixed on the battle. "You’d make the speeches worse."

Cassandra laughed even louder.

Damian placed a hand against his chest as though deeply wounded. "Damn. Even Evelyn is bullying me now."

Evelyn ignored him completely.

Her gaze followed the movement of the elders in the sky before she gave her actual opinion. "They’re wasting too much Qi talking."

Damian paused.

A second later, he nodded with complete seriousness. "Exactly."

He pointed toward Evelyn as though she had just revealed some profound heavenly truth. "If you’re going to kill each other, just fucking kill each other. Why waste half your breath explaining why?"

Linsey stared at him. "Master, you talk during fights all the time."

Damian immediately turned toward her. "That’s different."

Linsey tilted her head. "How?"

Damian grinned shamelessly. "I’m entertaining."

Linsey went silent for a moment, apparently unable to argue with that level of confidence.

Cassandra nearly doubled over laughing.

High above them, another Blue Mist Sect elder suddenly raised his weapon toward the heavens and roared loudly enough for half the battlefield to hear.

"TODAY, EITHER YOUR NETHER BLOOD MOON SECT DIES, OR OUR BLUE MIST SECT FALLS!"

Damian slowly lowered his head and sighed before pointing a finger toward the shouting elder. "See?"

Everyone looked toward him.

Damian shook his head. "Cultivators sure fucking love their dramatic speeches."

Cassandra crossed her arms, still clearly entertained. "You say that like you wouldn’t do the exact same thing."

Damian immediately scoffed. "Bullshit."

Linsey tilted her head. "Master, you absolutely would."

Damian paused for a moment before shamelessly adding, "Even if I did, mine would be way better and cooler."

Evelyn finally looked at him and said a single word. "No."

Damian lowered his head and sighed. "Goddammit, Evelyn."

Linsey watched another explosion before finally asking, "So... what do we do now, Master? Keep watching?"

Damian didn’t answer immediately.

He stood there thinking for a moment, his eyes slowly sweeping across the battlefield as if searching for something useful. "Hmm..."

His gaze suddenly stopped at the far end of the valley. Two familiar figures were moving carefully along the edge of the battlefield, keeping their distance from both sects.

Damian suddenly grinned as he recognized the two distant figures. "Well, fuck me. There they are."

Cassandra followed his gaze. "You know them?"

"Of course." Damian gave a short laugh. "They’re the connection I was talking about earlier."

He straightened and pointed toward the two figures in the distance. "Forget joining the fight for now. Let’s go meet them first."

Cassandra’s lips curved with interest as she followed his gaze again. "Now this sounds more entertaining."

Damian chuckled. "Trust me. It probably will be."
