Chapter 429
Chapter 429
“And this is Jin, my maternal cousin.” She finally introduced the boy who was brimming with a bright smile, impatiently waiting for his turn.
“I am honoured to meet you, Master Demiliore!” Jin, who was a boy of seventeen, courteously bowed to him, and it was the courtesy that youngsters showed to their seniors or people whom they deeply respected.
“He is a fan of yours. Don’t mind him if you catch him creepily smiling at you.” Feifei grinned as she crossed her cousin, who was seemingly a little embarrassed by her words.
“I just admire all that you have achieved and how you lead your life, Master Demiliore. Forgive me if I came out as a little too excited.” The boy bowed him again, and this time, his cousin approvingly nodded her head at his manners, making Keith chuckle at her antics.
“It’s fine.” He patted the boy’s shoulder and then smiled at Feifei’s team.
There were now seven people on it, including him and Iseul.
Other than herself and Jin, she had a girl named Baobao on her team, who was her junior at the University and looked rather cute in her bob cut. And the two people on her team were her bodyguards, who were disguised as her friends and had been convinced by her to race in the event.
“I hope you can all drive.”
“They can.” Feifei assuredly nodded to him. “As for Jin, he might not look like it, but he’s brilliant.”
“Wow, did I just hear you praise me?” Jin looked at her in disbelief, obviously feigning it, and his cousin just ignored his words. “Where’s Shao Li? I thought he would be here as well.” He curiously asked.
“He’s not coming, and won’t be coming.”
“Why?” Baobao curiously asked.
“I did not invite him.” Feifei shrugged, making both Baobao and Jin raise their brows at her. “Come on, don’t act like you did not see it. He was trying so hard to garner your favours because he wanted to ask me out.” She rolled her eyes, and Baobao sighed at her words.
“He did?”
“Yes.” She nodded to Jin, and the boy smirked at her.
“You broke his heart, didn’t you?” He knowingly asked.
“Don’t know.” She shrugged again, seemingly not caring about it. “Now, pay attention…”
Feifei then started discussing the plans for the night with the team, tasking each of them with their respective race categories.
Each of them was going to participate in two races, one of which was going to be a rolling relay race as a team.
“Keith, Jin, Iseul, and I will take part in the relay race 1. Baobao, and the two of you,” She looked at her bodyguards, “will take part in the second race. Depending on the result, we will decide which one of us enters the last lap. Okay?”
“I am fine with it.” Baobao nodded her head, and Jin did the same. freewebnoveâ„“.com
“Yes, Miss.” Her bodyguards obediently nodded their heads as well. Not that they were allowed to have any say in the matter.
“Hey, Fei, why are you calling Master Demiliore by his first name?” The young boy leaned in and whispered near her ear, but Keith and Iseul clearly heard him.
“Because I can.” She told him, making him more curious, but Jin did not say anything about it again, knowing well that if he kept whispering, it would be very rude of him.
Baobao curiously looked at Fiona, seemingly intrigued by the colour of her hair, and when his maid finally met her eyes, she found the Chinese girl break into a smile.
“So, you are Irish?”
“Yes.” Fiona nodded to her with a smile.
“You are pretty.”
The compliment brightened her smile, but she politely accepted it and complimented the girl back.
Their exchange led to the group to happily chat with each other. It was mostly Jin telling them all about how famous Keith was in China, and Iseul played along, showing surprise over everything Baobao and Jin told them.
“Stop fawning over him!” Feifei finally could not contain it and interjected, but before she could follow up to say something more, she stopped and looked at the group that was approaching them. “Here they come.”
Keith curiously raised his brow at her remark and then turned around to find a small group of young men and women approaching them.
“Master Demiliore.” A young man, who was likely a year or two older than Keith, bowed to him in a greeting and then straightened up to draw his hand forward. “Welcome to Hangzhou. My name is Wang Zemin, the Heir of the Wang of Beijing.”
It was clear that the boy had a deep-rooted pride in his bones, and by the looks of the things, his grandfather had not informed him about his true identity.
“Your Grandfather is the Vice-President, right?” He smiled.
“Yes, Master Demiliore.” Wang Zemin smiled, and his smile brightened when Keith shook his hand.
“Nice to meet you, Heir Wang.” He nodded and then curiously looked at the group behind Wang Zemin.
Feifei stifled a giggle as she found Keith talking to Wang Zemin and the rest in English, even though he was perfectly fluent in Chinese. And she guessed that he was likely doing it out of amusement.
For the next five minutes, Keith was greeted by every single one of them, and watching him smile as he returned their greetings, started ticking her off.
“Keith.” She finally couldn’t contain it and stepped forward, having sensed that Wang Zemin was about to finally acknowledge her presence. “I need to talk to you about something.” She seriously said, and to the disbelief of the people, she grabbed his arm and urged him to come with her.
“Excuse me.” Keith politely nodded to Wang Zemin and the rest before he started walking to the side with Feifei. “Yes, Fei?” He playfully called her by her nickname, and it made her frown a little.
“Why are you being so polite to him and his friends?” She did not hide her dissatisfaction in her voice. “He’s enemy.” And her voice was loud enough to be heard by everyone, making Jin and Baobao sweat at her bluntness.
“Since when?” He curiously raised his brow and received a glare in return from her.
“Since you accepted that you would be helping me.”
“Oh, yes.” He nodded in realisation, clearly feigning it, and Feifei did not miss the opportunity to playfully smack her fist on his chest, an action that was witnessed by everyone who was looking their way.
Keith laughed at her cleverness and then led her to the railing, a respectable distance away from everyone, where the group could no longer hear their conversation.
To Feifei’s panic, he pinned her against the railing, overlooking the West Lake, and put his hands on either side of her, caging her and making her look him in the eyes.
Despite the glare she sent his way, her cheeks warmed up a little, and given how close he was to her, she could now clearly make out his scent that she had earlier found on Rouxi and Eira.
“What perfume do you use?” She curiously asked.
“I don’t.” He smiled at her.
“You are wearing one.” She narrowed her eyes at him but frowned when he shook his head again.
“I don’t wear perfumes or scents, Fei.”
She kept looking into his eyes, and she frowned some more as she sensed that he was telling the truth.
Feifei leaned in and inhaled his scent, an action that appeared very intimate to the onlookers, and then she raised her head to ask him about it.
“What’s this scent then?”
“It’s natural.”
“Is it?” She sceptically asked.
“Yes.” He nodded to her and watched her take a few more sniffs.
“Doesn’t seem like it.” She grinned. “Humans don’t smell like this.”
“True.” He nodded and then looked into her dark eyes. “But I never said that I am human.”
Keith smiled when he heard her heart thump against her chest, and the fleeting fear that crept into it for a moment did leave some fissures in her composure.
Had there been anyone else, they would have taken his words as a joke, but Feifei could sense that he was not jesting.
“I am Divine, my dear Fei.” He leaned near her ear and whispered, making her body tremble in response. “So, do you like how I smell?” He teasingly asked and chuckled at the blush that bloomed on her face.
“I-I think it’s enough.” She knew people were looking their way, so, she could not shy her eyes away. Otherwise, Wang Zemin would have some doubts about their relationship.
“Is it?” He leaned in again, whispering the question, and then he did something that froze her.
She felt him plant a kiss on her forehead, and when he pulled back, she felt a lingering warmth there that made her heart skip a beat. And then her anxious heart started racing, resulting in her cheeks growing redder.
Feifei tried to muster up some anger and glare at him, but seeing the gentle smile on his lips, she lost her resolve.
“Let’s head back.” She timidly said and then grabbed his arm again, pulling him back to the group.
And Keith smiled as he found her grip tightening on his arm.
Of course, she was doing it subconsciously, and even though he had the urge to poke some fun at her, he refrained from it.
“Feifei is a little unhappy with me that I am cosying up with our rivals in tonight’s races, Heir Wang. And I would rather not make her more unhappy than she already is.” He spoke as soon as they came close. “We will chat once the event is over.”
“That’s fine.” Wang Zemin put on a smile and nodded understandingly, but Feifei smiled in her heart as she could sense how upset he was inside.
“Good luck, Master Demiliore. We won’t be going easy on your team.”
“Doesn’t matter if you go easy on us or not. Our victory is inevitable.” He lightly smiled, and for some reason, his words sent chills up their spines.
