Village System: Blessed With the Duty of Reproduction
Chapter 91: Aim for the head!
Using that much spirit energy at once nearly wiped Kanan out. It was so intense that he had to take a minute to catch his breath and absorb more energy to avoid going into Spirit Energy Reflux.
By this point, his warrior training was over, but that didn’t mean he wanted to expierence that feeling on his own terms.
"Yeah!"
"Shaman Kanan!"
"We won’t lose with him on our side!"
Kanan was glad that everyone saw him in such a light, but he didn’t let the praise get to his head. It couldn’t, anyway. Seeing the giant regenerate and stand back up would have eliminated any pride he had felt, if he had any at the moment.
"Dammit! What in the world is that giant made out—" Before he could even finish, Kanan quickly used all of his power to create a massive barrier that wrapped around the whole southern wall.
As quickly as the giant regenerated and stood back up, it ripped a massive chunk of the land out of the ground and chucked it so hard at Kanan that he swore he heard the sound barrier break.
The moment the massive chunk of land came in contact with the barrier, it was instantly vaporized, but at the same time, Kanan’s barrier instantly shattered, and the shockwave blasted him off the wall and into the village.
He flew through the sky, twisting and turning violently until something stopped him mid-air. At first, Kanan was too disoriented to understand what had happened, but after a bit, his mind became clearer.
"Thanks."
"Kanan, that doesn’t look like a Code Red." It only took Solan one glance at the giant to come to this conclusion.
"Yeah, well, at first, Elder Nala brought it down with ease, so I only saw its size as a threat. But after that attack, it’s definitely a code black." He was released from Solan’s gravity and was now hovering in the air; standing actually. He was able to use spirit energy as footholds.
"Any ideas?" Solan wondered.
"The giant has some form of high-speed generation. I blasted a hole straight through its chest, yet nothing happened. So my guess is that we have to destroy its brain."
"Got it. Where’s Nala?"
"She was—"
"HYAAAAAAAAAHHH!" Nala bellowed as she got up after being healed. The warrior woman wasted no time attacking the giant once again.
"Oh, well, she’s right there."
"Any weaknesses I should know about?"
"Not that I’m aware of."
Solan began to think for a few moments, occasionally glancing back at the giant. "You, Nala, Telah, and I will handle the giant. The rest of the Elders and warriors will take care of the small monsters. I’ve already sent a telepathic message to my mate to put the Village in a state of Code Black."
’Oh yeah, I forgot that Pema is a telepath. So cool.’
"Got it. Let’s go."
Nala was facing the giant alone, trying to stop its advance toward the village, her grip tightening around her sword as she stared up at the creature that had nearly killed her with a single punch.
"You almost killed me once," she shouted, rushing forward. "Even if my attacks don’t matter because you can regenerate, I’ll chop you into pieces until there’s nothing left to heal!"
She vanished from its reach, manipulating the space around herself as she darted between its massive limbs, carving into its flesh whenever she found an opening. The giant swung wildly, but Nala slipped around each blow with precision until one of its four arms suddenly came crashing toward her.
She barely turned before an immense pressure slammed the giant face-first into the ground. Nala looked behind her and saw Solan hovering above the battlefield, Kanan directly behind him.
Kanan’s spirit energy surged into the Chief, strengthening him as Solan pressed the giant into the earth. Kanan opened his palm, and his bronze staff flew into his hand before transforming into a massive blade.
He leapt from the sky, standing on nothing but a foothold of spirit energy, and plunged the blade deep into the giant’s skull.
Unfortunately, nothing happened, and the giant’s hand suddenly rose.
Kanan yanked his blade free and launched himself away as the enormous fist slammed into the ground where he had been standing.
Then, after getting up, the giant moved far faster than any of them expected.
Solan shot through the air with gravity, Nala warped space around herself, and Kanan sprinted across the sky, creating spirit-energy footholds beneath his feet and sliding across them as though running across solid ground.
The giant charged after them, each footstep shaking the battlefield as it stomped through its own monsters, crushing them beneath its feet while warriors scattered in panic.
Solan, Nala, and Kanan continued fighting while rescuing anyone caught in its path.
Nala severed chunks of flesh from its arms and legs, Kanan blasted its body with concentrated spirit beams, and Solan crushed both of its legs beneath an overwhelming gravitational force.
But again and again, the giant regenerated, bones snapping into place, flesh mending itself, and flesh reforming.
"Okay, that’s just cheating!" Kanan shouted in annoyance. He blasted one of its eyes apart, only for another eye to regenerate moments later.
Still, the giant kept advancing toward the village. Then a beam of light and a bolt of lightning struck the side of its head simultaneously.
Then a beam of light and a bolt of lightning struck the side of its head simultaneously
The giant staggered, and Telah flew toward them, carried by the spirit of wind, while Typhon warriors and Nemean Elders rushed toward the other monsters.
Landing beside them, she asked, "Any ideas?"
They dodged another enormous swing.
"Yeah, we destroy its head," Kanan said.
The plan was simple. Executing it was anything but.
The four fighters attacked together, running across the giant’s enormous arms as it swung them through the air. Nala carved through its flesh while Telah filled the wounds with lightning, Solan manipulated its movements with gravity, and Kanan blasted its face with spirit beams.
