Village System: Blessed With the Duty of Reproduction
Chapter 131: Spirit Energy Core
Spirit energy reflux, a feeling Kanan wished he would never have to expierence again. Thankfully, emptying his spirit energy reserves wouldn’t result in the reflux. Instead, Kanan fell face first onto the ground and nearly passed out.
"Ughh! My body feels like it’s made out of bricks!" Since spirit energy was tied to one’s stamina, the moment it was expended, a person’s stamina would be sapped alongside it, making them extra tired.
"This was your idea, by the way." Selin reminded Kanan. She rolled him onto his back so his face wouldn’t stay in the dirt and waited for him to start the spirit energy accumulation process.
"Do you think this will work?" A Nemean tribesman asked, whispering to the Typhon tribesman next to her.
"Dunno," He responded. "But if there’s one thing I know about Shaman Kanan, it’s that he can make the impossible happen."
The others agreed and waited for the results.
"Are you confident this will succeed?" Telah asked, sitting down next to Kanan.
"No. But it’s worth a shot. After all, Risha’s explanation does make the most sense."
"Then let’s get started."
"Are you rushing me? Can’t you see how tired I am right now?"
"An excuse. A warrior must continue to fight even after they are exhausted."
"Well, in case you forgot, I’m not a warrior."
"More excuses."
"Whatever."
Gathering as much strength as he could, Kanan sat back up and took a deep breath, then exhaled.
He continued this action, feeling spirit energy pour into his body with each breath. It was an exhilarating feeling, spirit energy flowing through him, making his body stronger with each passing second.
’Okay, once I have enough spirit energy, I need to concentrate it into my chest. But as I do this, I need to continue spreading spirit energy throughout my body.’
How he planned to do that, Kanan had no idea. So would just go with the flow and work from there.
According to the Typhon Tribesmen’s explanations, when absorbing spirit energy, one would have to imagine creating a sphere-like structure inside their body made entirely out of spirit energy.
Once created, they would fill it with as much spirit energy as they could before allowing it to leak throughout their body.
It was the latter part that Kanan needed to change.
’Phew, there it is, the right amount of spirit energy I need.’ Now that he had enough spirit energy, Kanan began creating his core.
The process was fairly simple, but it felt different. It was as if he was being sucked into a tornado while it tore him to shreds.
He wasn’t in pain, but the feeling had him wondering if he was being pushed out of his body, sort of like astral projecting.
Spirit energy spiraled inside him, crashing against his body like waves, yet concentrating around his chest. As he continued to accumulate more spirit energy, the stronger this process got.
However, this feeling gave Kanan an idea.
’What if I keep making the energy spiral? I can control how spirit energy moves inside my body, as that’s how anyone uses their abilities, so I should be able to control how the spirit energy is accumulated, right?’
And so, Kanan gave it a shot.
He made a ring of spirit energy and had it spin in a certain direction. It was like a stationary wheel spinning clockwise.
As spirit energy rode this current, settling inside a ring of spirit energy, he had the spirit energy inside the ring spin counterclockwise and made a very small, but large enough gap in both rotations to allow for spirit energy to escape.
In doing so, it allowed him to not only create a core, but also spread spirit energy throughout his body.
At first, Kanan wondered how the spirit core would become permanent, but as his body continued to fill up, he instinctively understood that once the body was full, everything would lock in place permanently.
So for the next two hours, Kanan meditated to absorb spirit energy until his body couldn’t absorb any more.
"Ugh, I feel like I’m about to explode." When Kanan finally opened his eyes and mouth, he felt excess spirit energy leave his body.
"Did it work?" Telah asked, sensing that Kanan’s power had increased significantly.
Kanan stood and stretched his limbs, cracking his neck before taking a deep breath. Then he released his power. The sheer force of his spirit energy exploding to life tore through the ground around him, ripping apart the earth and sending several people stumbling and flying backward.
Even his hair was flowing due to the amount of energy coursing through his body.
"L-Lord Nemean!" Selin shouted in shock, awe-struck by Kanan’s newfound power.
"Amazing! You’re way stronger than before! It’s as if you’re a fully realized sorcerer!" Telah couldn’t wait to have this power for herself. It would not only help her grow, but also help in defending the village.
"Hmm, I can see what you’re talking about when you mentioned spirit energy concentrating the most in the head and belly. Even though my body has distributed spirit energy equally, it’s still concentrated the most in those two places. Besides this new core, of course." Kanan said to the sorcerers.
"I-Is your power just amplified, or can you do more with your abilities now?" A Nemean tribesman asked
"As far as I’m aware, my power has increased, but my control over my power has also increased. I reckon that I could do things I wouldn’t have been able to before, but not in the sense that I’ve gained a new ability." Kanan answered
"What do you mean?"
"Hmmm. You know that when you freeze water, it turns to ice?"
Everyone nodded. Even in these times, that was common knowledge.
"Well, if you had the ability to only control water, after gaining a core, you could probably learn how to control ice as well."
"Ahh, I see. Water is ice, but you’re not controlling ice; you’re controlling the properties that they have in common." Telah responded.
’Holy shit! Is she from the modern day or something?’
"That’s right." Kanan nodded. "Though there is one thing that I find odd."
"What is it?"
"I’m seeing a lot of...colorful dots flying around...everywhere."
"Oh, those are the spirits."
The Typhon Tribesmen said that as if it were the most casual thing in the world.
"The spirits?!"
