Village System: Blessed With the Duty of Reproduction

Chapter 128: Vacation time is amazing

  • Next Chapter

It had been way too long since Kanan had time to relax like this. He remembered the times when he would go out to hunt, bring back an animal or two, and then spend all day doing nothing of importance compared to what he was doing now.

Thinking back to those times made him appreciate how simple life was. Being the Shaman was great and all, but sometimes, he just wanted to be Kanan, the hunter who didn’t have the hunting blessing.

"Peekaboo! Hehehe! I’m here, now I’m gone! I’m back, now I’m gone!" Currently, Kanan was playing with his children, both of them lying on their backs as he blocked his face with his hands before revealing it.

Off in the corner of the room, Glena and Viola were wondering why Kanan was doing this, seeing as their children were fast asleep.

"At least he’s trying to bond with them." Glena smiled, leaning back in her chair.

"I know Kanan is a softy, but I didn’t know there was a side to him like this. Did you, Glena?"

"Well, he was always a mommy’s boy. After his mother died, he clung to me like sap, so yeah, I saw this cute side to him every once in a while. Now," she began to pout. "He acts as if he’s too grown for that."

Giggling softly, Viola looked back at Kanan, who was still ’playing’ with the children.

"Kanan, you can work if you want. I know you might feel weird being at home for so long." Viola suggested.

"Are you kidding? This has been the best week of my life, and playing with our kids is only making it even better. Do you see my eyes, Viola? I can actually see properly now that I’ve been getting some good sleep!"

It had been a week since Kanan took off from work, and he’s been having the time of his life.

Around their house, Kanan was cooking, cleaning, and even decorating to make the place feel more homey. He would go out to hunt so he could make huge portions of dinner, which ended up going to their friends since Kanan made too much food.

He made sure to take care of Viola and Glena, doing all of the labor in the house in order to give them some proper rest.

"Do you guys need anything? Water? Food? A massage?"

"I’m fine." Glena smiled. "I think I will take a nap. Breastfeeding made me a bit tired."

"Same. You’ll watch the babies, right, Kanan?" Viola got up, following behind Glena

"Absolutely! Go rest. I’ll be here in case you need anything. Hehe. You two cuties are stuck with Daddy for the next few hours. I wonder which diaper I’ll have to change first."

Telah was going around the village with Selin to recruit people into their Elite Squad program. With the help of Kanan and Selin, she had a good idea of what to look for in the Nemean tribe when recruiting them.

First, they needed people with combat power. For the Typhon Tribe, this meant anyone who learned or was learning how to fight. For the Nemean Tribe, this meant people who had the Warrior Role.

Kanan had informed Telah not to worry about training those who did not have the Warrior Role for the time being. He wanted to create a system first and train up the first wave of the elite squad before branching out.

Witches were also something Telah was searching for. Just because someone was a witch didn’t mean that they couldn’t become a warrior. Having witches be trained warriors would be crucial to the safety of the village.

Selin and Telah spent a week going around the village and jotted down some names. The Typhon Tribe had no formal way of writing, so Selin was teaching her how to write on the side.

It wouldn’t be too difficult since they were speaking the same language. At first, Telah wondered how she was able to write what she spoke, but when Selin revealed that it was Lord Nemean who created their writing system, she understood right away.

Though she wasn’t a believer in Lord Nemean, she did believe that he existed, and if she didn’t, seeing Kanan’s children be blessed by him would have made her believe.

Thinking back on her battle against Nala all those months ago made her blush from embarrassment.

"I’ve jotted down the names of everyone who’s interested in joining this elite squad. Tell me, how will we train these...recruits? I know that you and Kanan have something in mind, but for the people of the Nemean Tribe, I wouldn’t know how to train warriors any better than we already are."

"I don’t know." Telah shrugged. "I know how to train the people from my tribe, since I’ve been around Chief Woton for a long time. But when it comes to your people, I don’t know nearly as much. I do know that Kanan has an idea for improving the training methods beyond what he’s done in the past, but as for the exact method, I have no idea."

"Knowing Kanan, It’s probably something pretty crazy. Ever since he got his blessing, he’s been doing all sorts of things with his abilities that no one would even think of."

"Could be because he’s a descendant of Lord Nemean."

"Could be." Selin wouldn’t deny the possibility, but as far as she knew, Kanan’s mind was just...divine.

"There is one thing Kanan did tell me he wanted us to do."

Selin raised a brow, interested in what Kanan wanted them to do. "What is it? I’m eager to know what crazy idea he has planned."

"He wants us to compare training methods and come up with a way to improve off each other. Kanan mentioned that though we have different abilities, our control over spirit energy is the same, so if we can figure out a way to understand each other’s abilities on a deeper level, then we could unlock a way to become stronger."

"Oooo! That sounds cool! But how will that work?"

"Truthfully," Telah looked into the sky, sighing heavily, then looked at the ground. "I have no idea. I would ask Kanan, but he’s busy with his family, and I don’t want to disturb him."

"Then, for the time being, let’s just compare the different ways we engage in combat and work out a way from there."

Telah couldn’t agree more. "Yeah, let’s do that."
