Village System: Blessed With the Duty of Reproduction
Chapter 114: Initiate phase one and two
Kanan ran back to the village, as he could run on air, and immediately alerted everyone about the situation. Wasting no time, everyone got into position to initiate phase one of Kanan’s plan when he gave the signal.
They were already working with a loss, not having Chief Solan here to aid them, but if everything went as planned, then there would be nothing to worry about.
Though Kanan knew that nothing ever went as planned. This is why he made multiple plans.
"Activate the barrier!" He demanded.
Soon, blue energy shot out of the top of the shrine and began to spread outward until it wrapped around the entire village.
"Shaman Kanan! They are approaching! The Typhon Tribesmen have reported that they can feel their power weakening due to the Verminus Plant."
"Good. Tell everyone to wait for my signal."
"Yes, Shaman."
Kanan looked around with his senses until he located Risha, leaping over to the part of the wall where she was.
"You okay?" He asked
"Yes. Why wouldn’t I be?"
"Well, this might be dangerous, and you could be scared."
"Scared? But we’re just playing with corpses. Hehe, I don’t see how that is scary. But I don’t like how all the spirits are yelling at me. Stop yelling! You’re being mean!"
"Wait, Risha, what are the spirits saying?"
"I don’t know. I stopped listening."
"Well, listen again, just this one time."
"Okayy!" She closed her eyes and started rubbing her temples while shifting her body in weird positions as if she were dancing. "Ahhhh!"
"What? What’s wrong?"
"I’m hungry. There was some meat in my hut I wanted to eat, but I was called here before I could eat it."
"Risha, focus. What did the spirits say?"
"The spirits?" She looked confused
"Yes, the spirits."
"They spoke to me? Oh right, I just remembered. They said to begin phase one right now. But I don’t really know what that means."
Kanan instantly shot into the air and hovered above the village. Amplifying his voice with spirit energy, he shouted. "EVERYONE, INITIATE PHASE ONE RIGHT NOW!"
The Chlorokinesis users instantly clasped their hands, and large roots shot out of the ground and extended toward the northern plains.
Creatures began to scream and yelp as the roots pierced their bodies or wrapped around them like snakes.
"They were invisible!" Kanan muttered under his breath. "They were invisible, floating slightly above the ground, and for some reason, we couldn’t sense them. If it weren’t for the spirits..." He didn’t want to think about what would have happened.
"Everyone, keep it up!" He demanded. "Sorcerers, you’re next! Once the roots and vines connect with as many corpses as they can, I want you to control the bodies and tell them to shut down."
Kanan stood on the wall, watching as the roots and vines snaked their way across the plains, as the corpses that began to fill the horizon tried to fight back, spirit abilities and all, and how the strain of keeping up such a feat made the Chlorokinesis users tired beyond compare.
"Shaman Kanan, they cannot keep this up for long."
"Keep going!"
"But Shaman Kanan–"
"Keep. Going."
He needed them closer, needed all of the corpses to reach a certain distance before he could initiate phase two.
Yes, his people were getting tired, some even collapsing, but he had no choice but to tell them to push on. Even with his abilities aiding them, there was only so much they could do.
’Just a little more. Come on! Just a little more!’
"NOW!" Kanan shouted
The sorcerers acted, using the vines and roots to extend their range and connect with the corpses. One by one, they felt the presence of the misty void and commanded them to obey their command.
After getting confirmation that they were under the control of the sorcerers, Kanan activated Phase Two. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ
"Burn it all!"
Flames spread rapidly across the tangled mass, crawling over the dead flesh and consuming the bodies beneath. Smoke billowed into the air as the burning corpses collapsed one after another, their movements finally ceasing as their bodies were turned to ash.
With everything burning, the Chlorokenisis users and Sorcerers were given time to rest, while the Pyrokinetics were ordered to contain the fire so it wouldn’t spread.
"I-I can feel it, Shaman Kanan." A sorcerer smiled. "Hundreds of them and counting are dying."
"Good." Kanan extended his hand, and the flames ignited even more, the orange fire turning blue as his energy enhanced the flames.
Kanan was no fool, so he wasn’t placing all his cards into this attack. He was positive that there would be survivors and that a battle would still ensue, but with this, he would have gotten all of the extras out of the way.
At least that’s what he hoped.
"We’ll keep this fire burning for as long as we can. I want everyone to stay on alert and report anything they find–"
BOOOOOOOOOOM
Something massive struck the barrier, cracks instantly forming where Kanan was standing. The sound was so loud that his hearing was temporarily shot, but when he came to, he looked over into the distance and saw what had happened.
"You’re kidding me!"
Towering above the barrier was a hulking ape who was blaring its fist against the barrier over and over again. ’
"H-How can a beast become so large?!"
"Shoot that thing down!"
"Stop it from attacking the barrier!"
’The shapeshifter.’ Kanan assumed, watching the ape pound away at the barrier. He extended a hand into the air and fired a beam of spirit energy that tore its arm off.
Unlike the Giant, the shapeshifter did not regenerate, so that was a relief. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the end of its assault. This time, it started jumping on top of the barrier.
"Shaman Kanan, what are your orders?"
Whatever choice Kanan made, he knew that the outcome would only lead to fighting an all-out battle. So, he chose to go all in.
"Men and women of this tribe! Today, we stand together—not as Nemeans, not as Typhons, but as one people! I don’t give a damn about who you were yesterday or which tribe you once called home. Today, we fight for each other. We bleed for each other. And if it comes to it, we will die for each other! We have faced hatred. We have faced war. We have faced monsters that should have killed us all. And yet, we are still standing! So we will face this obstacle together, and we will overcome it together! There are families waiting for us back home. Mothers, fathers, children, brothers, sisters, and mates who are counting on us to return. So when you see someone hurt, give them your shoulder and help them stand. When someone is critically injured, carry them to the healing huts. And if one of our own dies...Walk it off!"
With a swipe of his hand, the fire vanished, revealing the charred battlefield.
"Advance!"
