Chapter 186: Extraction

White light faded.

They stood once more on the central platform of the Silver Guild examination hall. The air was warm. The runes under their feet still glowed faintly. Medical staff and clerks were already moving toward them. Around the hall other groups were still being inserted or were missing entirely. The tiered seating was half-empty.

Lira Voss looked up from her data slate, expression unchanged.

"Group 047. Survival confirmed. Sixty minutes, zero fatalities. Provisional Silver Guild status granted. Locked unit structure. Report to processing for formalization and assignment of guild designation. Next."

Trevor stepped off the platform. The seven women followed in the same tight formation they had used inside the Ice Forge. Essence reserves were low. Several of them carried visible bruises under the armor. Lisa's side still ached from the last glancing blow. Rhea's shoulder was stiff. But every one of them was standing.

The network remained locked at full saturation. Every presence sharp. Every mark still burning with the residual depth of the long claim.

A processing clerk waited at a side table with a slate and a set of formal documents. He looked at Trevor's group, then at the exceptional survival data still glowing on his terminal, and simply pushed the slate forward.

"Unit designation pending. Locked structure acknowledged. No transfers without official arbitration. Sign here for provisional membership. Full rights and obligations activate upon final guild registry."

Trevor signed first. The seven women signed after him without discussion. The clerk stamped the documents and handed over a temporary unit crest—a simple silver emblem that would be replaced once their permanent designation was assigned.

"Barracks assignment and further instructions will be issued within twenty-four hours. For now you are released to recover. Do not leave the city. Do not engage in ranked dungeons until cleared. Dismissed."

They left the examination hall together.

Outside, late morning sun hit the guild plaza. Other surviving groups clustered in small, exhausted knots. Many were missing members. Some were already arguing. Trevor's unit did not stop. They walked in formation back toward the residence, the network carrying the quiet, shared knowledge that they had done what most could not.

No one spoke until the front door of the residence sealed behind them and the outer wards locked.

Trevor looked at each of them in turn.

"Medical first. Full scans. Essence recovery. Food. Rest. No one leaves until we have the final guild designation and the formal exclusivity oath is complete. The Ice Forge is finished. The next phase begins when we decide it does."

Mia nodded once. Lisa exhaled slowly and finally allowed her shoulders to drop. Vespera and Seraphine exchanged a glance that carried quiet, cold satisfaction. Caroline and Elena were already moving toward the medical supplies. Rhea simply cracked her neck and said nothing.

Trevor opened the private system interface.

[Phase Two complete]

[Survival confirmed – zero fatalities]

[Provisional Silver Guild status granted]

[Network Synchronization: 100%]

[Mark Depth: Maximum]

[Unit structure: Locked]

He dismissed the window.

They had walked into an S-rank dungeon as eight and walked out as eight.

The Silver Guild now recognized them as a single, permanent unit.

The exclusivity oath would come next.

Then the real work of what they would become could begin.

**Chapter 45: Formalization**

The residence remained sealed for the rest of the day.

Medical scans came first. Elena and Caroline ran full diagnostics through the network while the others stripped out of damaged armor and residual frost. Lisa's side was deeply bruised but unbroken. Rhea's shoulder carried a hard impact contusion. Everyone else showed only the expected residual cold stress and essence depletion. No lasting injuries. No toxin or frostbite. The system confirmed full recovery timelines under twelve hours with proper rest and stabilizers.

Food followed—dense, high-essence meals that the body could convert quickly. Then rest in shifts. The network stayed open the entire time, every presence accounted for, every mark still saturated from the long claim that had preceded the trial.

Late afternoon a formal messenger from the Silver Guild arrived at the outer wards. Trevor met him alone at the door, accepted a sealed packet, and dismissed him without conversation. Inside, he broke the seal and projected the contents for the entire unit.

[Provisional Silver Guild Unit 047]

[Permanent Designation: Pending final registry – temporary designation "Frostbound" assigned]

[Structure: Locked]

[Membership: Trevor Lane (leader), Mia Lane, Lisa, Vespera, Seraphine, Caroline, Elena, Rhea]

[Transfers: Prohibited without official arbitration by Guild Overseer]

[Next mandatory report: 72 hours – full registry and resource allocation]

Trevor closed the projection.

"Frostbound. Temporary, but it will do. The structure is locked. No one leaves. No one joins without going through official channels—and even then only if the Overseer decides the conflict is unsolvable. We settle our own problems first."

He looked at each of them.

"The exclusivity oath comes now. No other men will join this unit. Ever. The bond structure stays closed. If the Guild attempts to force an addition or transfer, I will handle it. You will swear to the same."

One by one they did—Mia first, voice calm and certain; Lisa next, sharp and direct; Vespera with a cool, almost amused incline of her head; Seraphine with luminous quiet; Caroline without hesitation; Elena softly but firmly; Rhea last, blunt and absolute.

Trevor accepted each oath through the network. The system logged them as binding under the mark structure.

"Good. We are no longer provisional candidates. We are a locked Silver Guild unit. Recovery continues through tomorrow. After that we begin proper operations—resource allocation, dungeon rights, and whatever contracts the Guild assigns. Until the seventy-two-hour report we stay inside the city and out of ranked dungeons. Questions?"

There were none.

The house settled into quiet recovery mode. Armor was set aside for repair. Weapons were cleaned and oiled. Essence stabilizers were rationed. The seven women moved with the same unspoken coordination they had used inside the Ice Forge, only slower, heavier with exhaustion and residual cold.

Trevor remained in the main room after the others had withdrawn to rest. He opened the private system interface one final time for the day.

[Unit Status: Frostbound – Locked]

[Network Synchronization: 100%]

[Mark Depth: Maximum]

[Survival Record: Ice Forge – 60 minutes, zero fatalities]

[Next Phase: Guild integration and operational deployment]

Outside, the city continued under its wards. Somewhere in the Silver Guild complex, Lira Voss was already processing the next wave of survivors and the far longer list of the dead. Somewhere else, other locked units were beginning the same quiet, dangerous process of deciding what they would become.

Trevor closed the interface.

They had survived the trial that was meant to thin the herd.

Now they would decide what to do with the survival.
