Vampire's Slice Of Life

Chapter 1197: Negotiations

Chapter 1197: Negotiations

"What an honor to meet the Princess of the Asuras."

The Asura Princess knew the identity of the man before her. He was a famous person, closely related to one of the Three Greats of the Evure God Clan.

The Asura Princess clasped her hands and gave Roy a curt bow. "Greetings, Mr. Roy."

Roy returned the greeting with a bow and didn’t talk further.

The Asura Princess handed her blade and let Roy seal her cultivation.

The two eventually disappeared from the spot, leaving the people at the bottom dumbfounded by the sudden change of events.

.....

Seated around a round table, Lith calmly sipped tea.

’This reminds me of home.’ He thought as he stared at his own reflection on the tea.

Tea was a constant in Lith’s life. Through thick or thin, it always stayed. He did not drink any tea, just the ones available at the castle.

His maids kept a stock of it with them and poured a cup for their master whenever he desired.

Sipping on the warm liquid and calming his nerves, Lith finally saw the beauty of the Asuras.

She looked decent but wasn’t beautiful to rival even his ladies. Lith guessed it probably had to do with the fact that she was on the enemy side.

If she wasn’t an enemy, she might appear more pleasing. Who knows?

The Asura Princess clasped her hands and greeted with a bow. "Please accept my humble greetings."

Without glancing at her, Lith said in a neutral tone, "Spare the formalities. Sit down."

The Asura Princess’s stomach felt weird upon hearing the ice cold tone.

She could make out that the man in front of her wasn’t even a Supreme Rank, yet she somehow felt the pressure from his words alone.

’Is it perhaps my imagination?’ The Asura Princess thought and walked to the table to take a seat.

Surrounding the round table were Roy, Fei, and Sylvia. They were ready to strike any moment’s notice if the Asura Princess made a move.

They also kept an eye on their surroundings, fearing an ambush.

Lith trusted his subordinates. They were capable of handling the situation if things went south.

He thus focused on the talks with the Asura Princess.

"How should I refer to you?" The Asura Princess asked.

"Your Highness works." Lith said nonchalantly. Though his words were anything but not haughty and overbearing.

Asking a royalty to refer to the other with a similar title? It was too much.

The Asura Princess found herself losing the flow of the conversation. She frowned but wasn’t stupid enough to bicker. Wasn’t it just a title? She would comply for now.

"Then, Your Highness, you must be wondering why I wish to engage in a conversation, right?"

Lith did not reply and continued sipping tea.

At the side, Fei rubbed her arm and thought, ’It’s quite chilly here...’

Sylvia on the other hand thought, ’He looks angry. It’s the first time I’ve seen him show such emotion.’

There were very few things that made Lith angry. He almost never had this emotion and his life was smooth sailing.

However, the time right now was different.

He was face to face with his grandparents’ killer.

Only he knew how much he was holding back to outright assault the Asura Princess.

He did not let even a little killing intent seep out. That’s how restrained he was.

With the continued silence, the Asura Princess frowned harder. She was feeling lost. This wasn’t even a conversation anymore. The other party just refused to answer her.

If he did not want to talk, why bother letting her meet him?

The girl had her own pride and it was being trampled. She did not like it one bit.

Finally, after a minute’s awkward silence, Lith spoke, "Get to the point. This isn’t a business deal for idle talk."

The Asura Princess took a deep breath. Her ego was hurt once again. But could she do anything about it?

She couldn’t.

"Your Highness, let me be frank then. The reason why you’re doing what you’re doing is for revenge, right? It’s to avenge your ancestors, yes?" The Asura Princess struck where it hurt Lith the most.

He had seen the painful memories of his grandfather making way for his grandmother to escape, and then his grandmother leaving his mother all alone at a very young age.

The hardships the two had undergone and the sacrifices of not just them, but his granduncle and granduncle’s friend...

Everything resurfaced.

Lith’s hands trembled from pure rage. If it wasn’t for the calming effects of the tea, he would’ve dashed across the table and strangled the Asura Princess to her death.

Lith took another sip of tea and put the cup down, glancing at the Asura Princess.

The moment his bright purple eyes met her gaze, the Asura Princess’s eyes widened in shock.

’Same eyes as the Asura Royalty! He’s definitely the descendant of Uncle Kalyndor!’

The Asura Princess’s resolution to get on Lith’s good side became firmer.

"You should consider your next choice of words wisely." Lith wasn’t in the best mood and warned her.

The Asura Princess felt pressured. Her eyebrows quivered as she thought, ’The way I spoke probably hit a nerve. I should be more careful.’

The Princess bowed and said, "I apologize if my words may have offended His Highness. I wanted to confirm your motivation behind the destruction of my clan. Now that I do, please let me say... you aren’t wrong to do this.’

’Hm?’ Lith looked at the girl as if he was looking at a fool. To tell an enemy that they did right by annihilating one’s clan... it couldn’t get stupider than this.

The Asura Princess continued, "It’s a long story on why I have come to this conclusion, but please be assured that we do not wish to engage in any more slaughter."

Lith tapped on the table with his index finger and leaned forwards, saying with a frown, "Get to the point."

The Asura Princess took a deep breath. "Your ancestor for whom you seek revenge is my uncle. His name is Kalyndor. There’s a reason why we Asuras cannot procreate with the outsiders and especially the Evures. It’s because..."

The Asura Princess stated the Asura God Clan’s history with the Evure God Clam to Lith.

Lith’s frown deepened as time passed and even Roy was shocked to find out his clan was made from resentful wives and their children.

Roy clenched his fists and stared at the Asura Princess with loathing. Part of the reason was this information and another part was him feeling wronged by his clan members. Despite having a high rank in the clan, nobody told him about their history.

A clan built upon infidelity and resentment... just what sort of bullshit was that?

Lith on the other hand had leaned back on his chair, feeling a great headache.

Sylvia gently massaged his temples and infused her fingers with spiritual power to create a soothing effect for Lith.

When the Asura Princess was done speaking, her face had a sad smile on it.

"We are already on the verge of collapse, and every living creature will fight for its survival, even if it means living a day longer. We are ready to pay any price as long as His Highness breaks our curse and leaves a successor..."
