Chapter 2038: Chapter 2037: A Calamity of Blood Awaits

Shadow shrugged a shoulder.

"I can’t be sure, but the Camp Master has to go. In short, we’re walking on thin ice here right now and don’t dare be careless in the slightest."

"Also, Miss Sikong, while you’re here it’s best not to call the Camp Master by his real name. You should address him as Lord Feng Yang. As for your own identity, you’d best change it as well. After all, the surname Sikong immediately calls to mind the Vermilion Bird Family of Ancestor Dragon City."

"I’ll take you to settle in first. If nothing comes up, when the Camp Master returns I’ll report to him, but in the meantime, I hope you can stay quietly put."

Sikong Yu glanced at Shadow.

"I’m not going anywhere. Take me to the tent where Li... Lord Feng Yang is stationed. I’ll wait for him there."

Hearing this, Shadow said blandly, "Suit yourself."

Just as Sikong Yu was barging into Li Feng’s main camp, Li Feng, accompanied by Chong Xuan, had come by invitation to the central main camp where the Lion Commander was.

The great beast-hide command tent was supported by massive timbers, its interior incomparably spacious. Fur-woven carpets were spread across the ground, making the layout extremely luxurious.

"Lord Feng Yang, our Lion Commander has been waiting for quite some time. Please."

The Lion Clan Grand Steward personally came out to greet him, giving him full face. Li Feng nodded slightly and followed the Lion Clan Grand Steward into the core command-tent area. Stationed nearby were the Lion Clan elites; their numbers were small, but from the aura all around, each one was extremely formidable.

"Grand Steward, I don’t know why the Lion Commander suddenly sent word for this lord to come over. Is there an important matter?"

Li Feng looked at the Lion Clan Grand Steward. Though he knew it was impossible to get anything out of him, the Lion Clan Grand Steward only smiled.

"Inviting Lord Feng Yang was not the Lion Commander’s own idea. It was the envoy from the Qingqiu Fox Clan who wished to meet Lord Feng Yang."

Li Feng was somewhat surprised at this: "The Qingqiu envoy?"

"That’s right. As for the reason, that I do not know. Perhaps today’s battle, where Lord Feng Yang caught the other side’s interest, made them want to form an acquaintance."

Li Feng didn’t buy the Lion Clan Grand Steward’s line, but the other party actually taking the initiative to reveal that the envoy of the Qingqiu Fox Clan was present—that carried quite a bit of information.

Though in this war, the Candle Dragon Demon Country was by no means fighting alone; the Demon Clan powers of the four nations and six secret lands were all being mobilized.

It was just that the previous alliance between Ancestor Dragon City and the forces of the Four Holy Beasts had, due to the absence of the Vermilion Bird, developed a gap.

The Southern First Line Pass front had become Ancestor Dragon City’s greatest weak point.

How could the Demon Clan let such a chance slip by? It was entirely possible that in this assault on the First Line Pass, not only had the Candle Dragon Demon Country mobilized its full strength, but two other nearby secret lands had joined in as well.

"What’s this, Lord Feng Yang doesn’t wish to meet them?"

Li Feng gave a chuckle and said, "How could that be? I just didn’t expect the Qingqiu envoy would want to see me, that’s all. After all, I’ve heard the beauties of Qingqiu are said to be peerless under heaven. Even in the Demon Country they’re among the very finest."

"Hehe, the Fox Clan’s beauty is naturally kingdom-toppling and city-destroying, hard to describe in mere words. Why not wait until we’re inside the tent, and Lord Feng Yang can judge with his own eyes."

"However, I must remind Lord Feng Yang of one thing or two: beauty may be good, but one must not overindulge."

said the Lion Clan Grand Steward.

"Many thanks for the reminder, Grand Steward."

As they spoke, the group arrived at the Lion Commander’s main tent. The tent was indeed imposing, its four walls towering several zhang high like a three-story building, and at a glance, it covered no small area.

The tent’s entrance flap was like a city gate’s archway. Passing through, they saw that quite a few Demon Clan powerhouses of Captain rank and above were already seated inside.

When they saw Li Feng enter, many eyes turned toward him at once.

Li Feng directly ignored the gazes around him, his eyes lifting to the head of the hall. The Three Marshals’ seats were all at the front; the Lion Commander in the center, the Wolf Commander and Bull Commander to the left and right.

And the seats to either side of the head were all already filled, with not a single open spot.

At the head, the Lion Commander Wanyan Xiu saw Li Feng enter and burst into hearty laughter: "Lord Feng Yang of the Fire Phoenix Clan has arrived."

"In today’s battle, Lord Feng Yang displayed divine might and greatly bolstered our Demon Country’s morale. We ought to drink a great white cup in his honor."

"Lord Feng Yang is the main character today and should naturally sit in an honored seat."

"You lot, move over a bit and make room for Lord Feng Yang." The Lion Commander Wanyan Xiu casually turned his head to look down below as he spoke.

"Lion Commander, this place is already cramped; we can barely stretch our limbs as it is. There’s no space to make. Since he came later, why not just sit at the rear?"

"After all, everyone present today holds the dignity of a King."

"Sitting at the rear wouldn’t count as insulting Lord Feng Yang. Lord Feng Yang, what do you say?"

The speaker was a Lion Clan King, and it was obvious this Lion Clan Demon King bore a grudge against Li Feng. Every word and phrase was laced with provocation.

The Demon Kings on either side of this Lion Clan King all showed faint, unreadable smiles. No one spoke up; they all sat steady on their Fishing Platform, as though they wanted to see how Li Feng would respond.

After all, something as seemingly simple as where you sat was also a form of confrontation and contest.

If you accepted it and sat in the back, that meant you were bowing your head and swallowing your pride. No one would think you were taking a step back for the sake of the bigger picture; in the Demon Clan, no such saying existed.

If you backed down, it only proved you were weak.

And then you couldn’t complain if, in the future, people ordered you around as they pleased.

But if you refused to accept it, that was another story. The seating here had already been arranged. Wherever you wanted to sit, no one was going to move aside.

"Young Master, I’m afraid this is a Hongmen banquet today."

Chong Xuan muttered softly beside Li Feng’s ear.

Li Feng let out a cold, sharp laugh: "I already knew no banquet would be a good one. If they really didn’t set up a Hongmen Formation, I’d actually feel uneasy instead."

"This is fine. Let me see what they can do."

After speaking, Li Feng lifted his eyes and swept over the Demon Clan members seated to either side. The seating order of these demons was in itself quite interesting.

In the three seats at the very front, the Lion Clan’s Wanyan Xiu was in the center, with Wolf Commander Ye Xiu and Bull Commander Niu Gengtian to his left and right.

Further down on both sides, it was still the Lion Clan: left and right in facing rows, no fewer than eighteen in all.

Only after the Lion Clan Demon Kings were seated did it come the turn of the Wolf Clan and Bull Clan behind them. The Demon Kings of these two clans were noticeably fewer; even combined, they barely equaled the Lion Clan’s number of Demon Kings.

Li Feng’s old friend Gu Feng was seated at the very end, because he was a newly advanced Demon King. Though his strength was no weaker, it was obvious that Gu Feng hadn’t fought over the order of seats.

It wasn’t that Gu Feng lacked the strength or was being modest. It was just that Gu Feng had just gotten a juicy piece of meat—three thousand Wolf Riders forged and strengthened by Li Feng. If he took the benefits and then still tried to act spoiled, it’d be hard for him to get by in the clan.

Gu Feng could endure, because he’d only just advanced and hadn’t yet found his footing, but Li Feng clearly had no way to endure.

"Scoot over a little, make some room."

That was clearly impossible.

The only option was to seize a seat.

This was probably a test.

"Heh, you want me to answer?"

Li Feng chuckled lightly and stepped forward. "Since I was a child, my elders taught me a principle: better to be the head of a chicken than the tail of a phoenix."

"As for that rear seat, whoever wants it can have it, but I, Feng Yang, will absolutely not sit there."

The Lion Clan Demon Commander who had spoken narrowed his eyes slightly at that.

"Heh, Lord Feng Yang, there really isn’t any extra seat for you here."

"Is that so?"

Li Feng smiled, unhurriedly walking past the area where the Demon Kings were seated and heading straight for the very front, toward that Lion Clan Demon King who had spoken rudely to him.

"From your features, I’d say, my lord, that today you’re due for a calamity of blood."
