Urban's Fury: The War Dragon God
Chapter 2011 - 2010: Pain and Pleasure
Chapter 2011: Chapter 2010: Pain and Pleasure
"Are you ready to embrace a new life?"
Li Feng looked at the elite wolf tribe warriors ahead, a hint of wicked allure at the corner of his lips. Without waiting for Gu Mo and the others to react, Li Feng pressed his hand against the ground, causing the Phoenix Flame to spread along the array on the ground.
This array was merely the simplest spirit gathering array, not very effective, but sufficient for concealment.
As the Phoenix Flame filled the entire Juling Town, the underground bunker space instantly resembled a massive furnace, with Gu Mo and others taking the brunt, like monkeys locked in an alchemy furnace.
The wolf riders’ elites, including Gu Mo, suddenly felt threads of Flame Power drilling into their bodies like maggots clinging to a bone. In an instant, this Flame Power followed the bloodstream into their organs, and with the burning, the demon blood within began boiling.
The demonic power within ran amok, and soon Gu Mo and the other demons couldn’t maintain their humanoid forms, their bodies starting to shift towards beast forms, their size continually expanding.
Bloodline purification can tap into the potential within, causing a regression to ancestral traits. After all, demons evolved from spiritual beasts, so this purification drives them to instinctively revert to primal forms.
Such transformation doesn’t imply regression but revives aspects lost in continuous evolution.
Of course, if it were simply purification, it would end here, and the appearance of ancestral traits would mark the purified bloodline. As for the awakened bloodline talent post-regression, that remains unpredictable.
At least, the Vermilion Bird, during these bloodline purifications, has always been indifferent to the outcome; a wave of Phoenix Flame over, survival is fortune, failure shows lack of opportunity.
Li Feng is different.
As an expert versed in traditional medicine and surgery, Li Feng would never treat his subjects so roughly.
The next step involves mixing some personal touches into the bloodline, imprinting the Vermilion Bird’s mark within their blood.
However, this process is far from gentle.
Those with weaker strength experience less complexity; the stronger the power, the stronger the bloodline; naturally rejection occurs, similar to organ transplants.
Li Feng’s goal is to find a balance point for bloodline fusion, ensuring these wolves retain their bloodline legacy while imprinting the Vermilion Bird’s mark, transforming the essence of their bloodline.
Inside the bunker, hundreds of wolf tribe members howled in agony, echoing up through the unsealed slope to the surface.
The demon clan waiting outside couldn’t help but exchange bewildered looks.
"Captain, is this bloodline purification really this painful?"
They were elite wolves; even through life and death, drenched in blood, they had never screamed so wretchedly.
Gu Feng exhaled, recalling the pain previously endured, nodding: "Hmm, bloodline purification is not as easy as imagined. The Phoenix Flame enters the body, traveling through all the bloodstream, incinerating organs; you’ll feel like you’re burning entirely, ready to turn to ash at any moment."
"That pain almost wounds the soul, making it impossible to escape." Remembering the pain from deep within the soul made Gu Feng tremble involuntarily, empathizing with the cries beneath.
The cries persisted for half a quarter-hour before fading away into dead silence.
"Why is there no sound anymore?"
"Could they all be dead?"
Some wolves swallowed hard, staring at the slope leading downward, unable to see what lay at its end.
Gu Feng was also fixated on the slope entrance, wondering if the warriors who went down couldn’t endure and perished.
Gu Feng felt uncertain, knowing the kind of gut-wrenching pain was nearly unbearable, even for someone like him, an elite demon general.
But just then.
From the slope appeared a figure wrapped in a fiery wave, speeding so fast it left trails of shadows behind, then jumped like a rocket, soaring hundreds of meters before finally falling.
Everyone, including Gu Feng, turned to look behind, seeing the figure land and crash through a tent, igniting it into a towering torch.
"What’s going on?"
"Did anyone catch a good look?"
"Seems like it’s Gu Mo."
"Gu Mo? The one who just reached demon general status."
"Did that guy fail to endure and exploded?" whispered other wolves, their eye power enough to see the blazing flames from the hundred-meter distance.
The tent fire roared skyward, but the flames did not burn naturally; they seemed controlled by an invisible wind, transforming into a fire dragon rising, which then shattered like autumn leaves scattering in the wind.
As the flames dissipated with the wind, a much more robust figure emerged from the consumed tent.
"It’s Gu Mo."
"It really is that guy."
Before the wolves could process this, additional figures began uncontrollably bursting out of the slope behind.
"Clear the way!"
Paths kept erupting with fiery shadows, unable to control their rampaging strength, diving into the wolf tribe’s formation like bowling balls, causing chaos.
Gu Feng quickly regained composure, demonic power fluctuating around him, forming a giant hand of demonic wind, catching the wolves emerging from below.
"These wolf cubs."
Gu Feng cursed under his breath, knowing Li Feng’s purification succeeded, granting his subordinates another natural power, Flame Power.
The wolves’ bloodline already contained natural Wind Power, with the strongest talent, Wind God Body, the wolf tribe’s foundation. Now accompanied by the Flame Power within, it surprisingly enhanced rather than disrupted balance. Instead, wind and fire powers complemented each other.
Gu Feng broke through the limits of demon generals, ascending into demon king rank, utilizing this power; wind borrowing fire’s momentum, fire boosting wind’s momentum, achieving qualitative change.
Gu Mo suddenly propelled himself out, leaving a shadow behind at the slope’s entrance.
"Greetings, Captain." Gu Mo and Gu Feng hailed from the same tribe, although not brothers, shared some kinship.
"Well, how do you feel?"
"Returning to the Captain, I feel great. I think I now possess at least high-level demon general strength, if given time to adapt, I could sit in your position, Captain."
Gu Mo smugly replied.
"You wolf pup, a bit of strength, and you aim for my spot." Gu Feng playfully slapped him.
"Gu Mo, hearing your tortured screams below, thought you were done for. What’s up now?"
