Chapter 455: Yang Xiaofu’s Threat

  • Next Chapter

The next day, Wang Chenning was up bright and early.

After a blissful morning workout with Zhao Xiao’an, Wang Chenning returned to the university to prepare for his lecture.

When they heard Wang Chenning would be personally teaching them today, the students were thrilled.

The relevant class group chats were blowing up with 999+ messages, all about Wang Chenning’s upcoming lecture.

A huge crowd came to hear Wang Chenning’s lecture. The 500-seat auditorium was packed to the brim, with people even filling the aisles.

At a rough estimate, the total number of people likely exceeded a thousand.

To Wang Chenning’s surprise, Yang Xiaofu, whom he hadn’t seen for some time, was also in the auditorium.

Yang Xiaofu occupied the best seat in the front row. ‘I wonder if she came super early to grab it, or if she used her feminine wiles to get someone to trade.’

As soon as Wang Chenning walked in, he saw Yang Xiaofu roll her eyes at him, looking furious.

Wang Chenning shot her a warning look in return, then walked to the lectern to prepare.

Wu Jingyi and Zhang Manxin, acting as Wang Chenning’s assistants for the day, quickly and efficiently set up his laptop and the projector.

“Before we begin today’s class, I’d like to use my recent experiences to illustrate just what you can gain from possessing exquisite medical skills!” Wang Chenning held up his hand, signaling for the room to quiet down.

Once the auditorium fell silent, he said with a smile, “Once you have a certain degree of influence in the world of traditional medicine, people will recognize that you can achieve great things. And achievements in traditional medicine can be easily converted into industrial investments. This is the main reason I received such a high-level reception from local leaders during my trip to Jiangnan.

As for how I befriended the heiresses from two generations of the Shanxing Group, it’s because I used my skills to heal them, and I can continue to help them in the future. If your medical skills can cure illnesses others can’t and bring people wonderful surprises, your potential for achievement is limitless!

So, students, you must all listen attentively in class and study hard. Strive to become even more popular than I am!”

Wang Chenning’s words were met with sighs from many of the students.

“Teacher Wang, even if we mastered medical skills greater than yours, we don’t have your handsome face or your great physique. We’d never be popular with the girls!”

“Teacher Wang, I don’t think I could master skills more exquisite than yours even if I lived to be eighty.”

“I feel the same way. I’ll never be as handsome as Teacher Wang, nor will I ever have his amazing medical skills!”

Although the students remained pessimistic, Wang Chenning’s words had successfully ignited a competitive spirit in most of them.

Afterward, Wang Chenning spoke about his teaching arrangements for the next semester.

Starting next semester, he probably wouldn’t have as much time to teach undergraduate students regularly. He would have to focus his primary efforts on his specialist clinic, supervising graduate students, and the development of the national-level laboratory.

But he also promised he would make time for regular lectures and would properly train his successor. ⅇ𝒃𝚗ℴ

He also hoped the students would cherish their learning time for the rest of the semester. He would attend class in person as much as possible, unless he was called away on business or something important came up unexpectedly. If he couldn’t make it to class, he would definitely record a video in advance and have a few of his beautiful female disciples answer questions in person.

For these two class periods, Wang Chenning lectured very earnestly, and the students listened just as attentively.

During the interactive Q&A session after the lecture, everyone asked a lot of questions.

But Wang Chenning only answered questions related to academics, automatically filtering out all the others.

Wang Chenning had originally thought Yang Xiaofu would cause some trouble, but to his surprise, she sat quietly and listened throughout the lecture and didn’t even raise her hand to ask a question afterward.

But the moment class ended, she immediately latched onto him.

“Brother Ning, you’ve done me so wrong! You have to make it up to me!” she said, clutching her books as she followed beside Wang Chenning, looking thoroughly displeased. “I sent you so many messages, and you barely replied! I told you I wanted to come join the fun, and you said no. I’m so mad! You’ve been back for days and you haven’t come to see me. You haven’t even texted me first. Isn’t that going too far?”

Wang Chenning glanced sideways at Yang Xiaofu and replied irritably, “Haven’t I been busy?”

“Busy with other women?”

Wang Chenning simply ignored Yang Xiaofu.

“You have to hang out with me this afternoon!” Yang Xiaofu scurried to catch up with the quickening Wang Chenning, pouting as she made her demand. “Take me somewhere fun, and then treat me to dinner!”

Wang Chenning rejected her outright. “I have my specialist clinic this afternoon. No time!”

“How lame!” Yang Xiaofu’s pretty lips pouted even more. After a moment’s thought, her eyes flashing, she quickly added, “Then let me be your little assistant! I’m a really fast typer. I can help you enter patient records. You’ll be able to see patients much faster that way!”

“Absolutely not!” Wang Chenning refused point-blank. “You’re not a medical student. You can’t join me during clinic hours!”

“If you refuse me again, I’ll tell everyone I’m pregnant with your child!” Yang Xiaofu was genuinely angry now. She brandished her phone. “I’ve joined a lot of your university’s class group chats, you know. Want to see what kind of chaos ensues after I send a message like that?”

Wang Chenning’s expression turned icy. “Are you sure you want to do that?”
