Chapter 282: First-Grade Gang Force... Perhaps I Have It Too
Although Lu Danxi had become an Official Disciple of Danwu Peak, she knew full well that becoming a Direct Disciple was impossible for her.
In fact, she had never even considered becoming a Direct Disciple of Danwu Peak.
Her talent was considered top-tier in the Medicine Valley, but it was nothing special in the Upper Sect.
She had established a foothold on Danwu Peak mainly through her talent for Alchemy, not for the Martial Dao.
But the Direct Disciples of Danwu Peak were all paragons of Elixir and Martial Arts Dual Excellence.
She never expected, however, that Zhang Su would be so persistent.
‘A mere Named Disciple actually wants to become a Direct Disciple and is even striving for it.’
‘The Melt Gang Technique is incredibly dangerous. The consequences of failure are unthinkable.’
But Zhang Su still went ahead with it.
‘It’s not just for himself, but probably for the Guiyuan Sect as well.’
“I can’t compare to you…”
Lu Danxi sighed, her voice tinged with emotion.
She looked up, her gaze growing resolute.
“But, even though I can’t become a Direct Disciple, you have the willpower, so of course I’ll lend you a hand! If you can become an Upper Sect’s Direct Disciple, you’ll be able to protect the Guiyuan Sect. The Jingyuan Sect would then have to think twice and wouldn’t dare invade the Three Sects Alliance from the south.”
“Helping you is like indirectly helping the Medicine Valley! Wait here. I’ll go find some Medicine Pills I recently concocted. I happen to have some Five Elements Pills that should be perfect for your Great Five Elements Divine Technique cultivation.”
Having said her piece, Lu Danxi stood up and hurried into her house.
Zhang Su sat on the stone stool, a warm feeling welling up inside him as he watched Lu Danxi’s figure disappear through the doorway.
He and Lu Danxi weren’t close, but he was deeply grateful that she was willing to help him.
Before long, Lu Danxi reemerged.
She was holding a pile of bottles and jars—more than a dozen of them, large and small.
She placed them all on the stone table at once, making a CLINKING and CLANKING sound.
“Junior Brother Zhang, these are all Five Elements Pills I compounded myself. And don’t worry, these Medicine Pills were all made according to Danwu Peak formulas, so there won’t be any issues.”
Lu Danxi dusted off her hands and said with a smile.
She pointed to the bottles and jars on the table, introducing them one by one. “This is the Metal Element Pill, for cultivating the Metal Element Divine Technique. This is the Wood Element Pill, for the Wood Element Divine Technique. This is the Water Element Pill, this is the Fire Element Pill, and this is the Earth Element Pill. I’ve made plenty of each type, enough to last you a good while.”
Zhang Su’s eyes lit up as he looked at the table covered in bottles and jars.
“As for Elixirs… I can’t refine them.”
Lu Danxi’s voice held a hint of resignation.
“Only Innate Grandmasters can refine Elixirs. Disciples like us can only assist Alchemy Masters, at most compounding some Medicine Pills. The ones on Danwu Peak who can perform Alchemy are all Innate Grandmasters. We disciples in the Postnatal Realm aren’t qualified yet.”
She paused, then added, “But Junior Brother Zhang, you just want to cultivate Gang Force, so these Medicine Pills should be more than enough for your needs. When you advance to the Innate Realm later and need Elixirs, I’ll help you figure something out then.”
“Thank you, Senior Sister Lu.”
Zhang Su stood up and cupped his fist toward Lu Danxi.
“How much silver?” he asked.
“No silver necessary. Consider it a gift.”
Lu Danxi waved her hand dismissively.
Zhang Su shook his head and said earnestly, “Senior Sister Lu, my Cultivation won’t be a short-term affair. I’ll likely need to trouble you to continue compounding these Medicine Pills for me in the future. Over time, that would be too much of an imposition. So, please, let me pay what they’re worth.”
Lu Danxi hesitated upon hearing this.
‘He has a point.’
‘Zhang Su will need a long-term supply of Medicine Pills; I can’t just give them to him for free every time.’
‘After all, it costs me to compound them.’
“In that case… one thousand silver.”
Lu Danxi said after a moment of thought.
“That’s the cost price. I won’t lose money on it.”
“How much? One thousand silver?”
Zhang Su was stunned.
“Senior Sister Lu, I may have just arrived at the Upper Sect, but I’ve been to Wanxiang Hall. The Medicine Pill prices there are much, much higher. For this many pills, you wouldn’t be able to buy them for even ten thousand silver…”
Zhang Su did a rough calculation. The bottles and jars on the table held at least a hundred Medicine Pills. At Wanxiang Hall, each one would cost one or two hundred silver.
By Wanxiang Hall’s prices, this pile of Medicine Pills was worth at least twenty thousand silver.
Lu Danxi just smiled mysteriously and lowered her voice. “Of course things in Wanxiang Hall are expensive. But here on Danwu Peak, this really is the cost. I’m not lying. I’m even making a tiny profit. Think of it as a small fee for my trouble, all right?”
Understanding dawned on Zhang Su instantly.
‘A rip-off!’
‘A total rip-off!’
‘Not Lu Danxi, though. Wanxiang Hall was the real rip-off artist!’
‘Of course, it was also possible that the price Danwu Peak charged Wanxiang Hall was already high. After all, Wanxiang Hall had to make a profit, too. With markups at every level, by the time the goods reached the disciples, the price had naturally inflated ten or even twenty times over.’
‘It just goes to show how absurdly profitable being an Alchemy Master is.’
‘A tenfold, even twentyfold profit margin on tiny little Medicine Pills.’
‘So what about Elixirs? The profit margin must be dozens of times higher.’
Now Zhang Su finally understood why the disciples of Danwu Peak were all filthy rich.
Lu Danxi was, without a doubt, a rich girl.
The disciples outside Danwu Peak seeking medicine probably understood this, too. That’s why they were so envious to see that Zhang Su was friends with someone like Lu Danxi.
After all, the benefits of knowing an Official Disciple from Danwu Peak were immense.
“Alright, one thousand silver.”
Zhang Su said no more. He took a thousand silver’s worth of silver notes from his robes and handed them to Lu Danxi.
