Noah watched a silver screen containing those words and digits appear before his colorful gaze. The system’s voice also announced them, even if he ignored it.
He felt interested in the fact that he had gotten far more levels than he expected. He apportioned that reality to the empowered state of the lady. Meaning if he fought more of them in their empowered state, he would get more levels!
‘This has gotten fruitful,’ Noah spoke to himself whilst he assimilated the memories of the lady. The thought of being able to gain more by simply killing those experts would have been satisfying if he wasn’t in that state.
Noah spent a few instants in the sky, eyes closed and focus on the vast memories he had eaten.
The world around him still raged with fire and corrosive properties, he didn’t mind them, however, since it would be the world’s duty to return that vast plain to its former glory. He didn’t expect that to happen anytime soon, though.
Her name had been Maya. She had been an orphan as long as her memories could take her but had grown in power amongst some small faction from the eastern side of the nation.
Noah streamed through battles she had fought in, people she had met and even gotten intimate with, but most especially, he managed to encounter certain memories that would give small hints to who the immortals were.
Her memories were incomplete, but he could still get substantial knowledge. Most of her memories had started to get occasionally darkened after a shining black and red rift had opened before her, revealing a murky figure. This had been during her time as a peak stage tier 3 expert.
She had come out of an underground cave having fought for her life and was barely bodily intact. Her team of seventy experts had died off within the expedition, the great worms they had encountered proving far more deadly than they had anticipated.
Noah experienced her emotions. A strange event since he believed he had lost the ability to feel anything regarding fear and all the rest. Still, he felt her horror at the scene even if his mind remained calm.
He arrived at the reason for that event and that would be none other than the fact that the person who had experienced those emotions wasn’t like him. He had stolen those memories after all.
That still begged the question of why he couldn’t experience the emotions of his memories, but he guessed the death lord’s ability run through all his life experiences.
Maya’s memories went dark at some point before resuming and time seemed to have passed as she now held power within the fourth tier, and this time she returned to the area her group had been killed.
A singular attack had erupted from her body to evaporate the entire hill wherein that underground world had been situated.
Her offensive against the worms began, they had increased exponentially during the years, but even more, they now possessed a tier 4 leader. Their battle had been long.
Maya had spent a total of 14 hours before she could claim the life of the acid-spitting worm possessing features that made it almost impossible to kill. One of them was its quick healing.
After that victory whole portions of her memories went black, blocked by whatever power she was under.
Time skips mostly occurred, and her power grew. It wasn’t until she hit the peak of the lower stage that her prowess as a monster unfolded. Her dual affinity for darkness and wind made her a terrible opponent.
Noah gave up after watching her memories some more, he find out that her dark-purple almost black attacks were not normal, and had been results of certain experiments.
Snapping his eyes open, beams of oppressive light shoot into the world around him. He had spent only three seconds watching her more than 200 years’ worth of memories.
Noah concentrated on his environment, feeling the wounds he had sustained slowly fade away. He had struggled a bit in the battle, but now that he knew he would need far more power against those experts he understood the danger more clearly.
He even knew he would need to unleash more since according to Maya’s memories, she had not attained the full power of the technique she activated, even if recollections of the technique’s activation were blocked from him.
The great black and purple-ish smoke that rose to the sky bathed a significant portion of the world in his view, but Noah barely had his focus on that anymore.
He could feel gazes on his body. But they didn’t originate from a single point. Everywhere around him was filled with that gaze, so much so that Noah felt certain the world itself peeked at him.
The event never managed to faze him, but it did gain his attention.
He had to focus his gaze on a particular area in the world, he found the direction he and Maya had come from and shot towards it with full power.
Moving at Mach 500 shaved huge chunks of his stamina, but it didn’t matter.
Noah arrived at the location he and his group had been sent to. By this point, they had fled very far away from that location and he believed they would expertly hide away their presence.
Noah still felt the strong gaze shooting from all around him, but he knew nothing was coming for him.
His golden horns shone with splendor and his skin returned it its pure white state featuring those ancient golden runes that beautified his skin but also had useful abilities. Noah only had about 12 seconds in that state.
For some reason even if his overall hp had increased thanks to leveling up, he didn’t gain more percentage.
That state bypassed some rules he expected to be in place.
Needless to say, it was time for him to deactivate his Speedling form, and he did.
Noah watched his white skin melt away like goo before disappearing in the wind. He returned to his normal height, regaining his human features.
Fatigue like nothing he had ever experienced smashed into his consciousness and Noah felt his vision blur dangerously.
His bones lost their strength and his body fell limp. His mind experienced a stress level it wasn’t yet used to, so Noah lost control of the wind beneath his legs to plunge to the ground. .
His impact with the severely destroyed terrain caused a cloud of dust to rise, but Noah remained too busy trying to activate the teleportation to his cultivation room. Which he did, before instantly falling asleep.
He had weakened his human state greatly by allowing his hp reach such low levels, and even his core trembled at the increase it had undergone. His mind went stale due to the low amount of soul energy within it.
Noah spent three days asleep, and even when he arose he had to spend another day cultivating and relieving his body, soul, and essence-core of the stress they underwent from going past the middle stage till they touched a level of power and quality akin to the fifth tier.
He, however, expected no less for the feat he had achieved. Simply monstrous.
