UNLIMITED SPEED

Chapter 118 118. CALL

Retaining his grip on the head of a peak-stage tier 2 ape, Noah watched as it tried to escape his vice-like grip. But he simply studied the hopeless aura the ape exuded.

Eventually, it stopped trying to remove Noah’s hand and proceeded to turn gentle, a whimper-like sound escaping its teethed mouth. It had given up.

Noah only nod his head at that sight. Relieving its head of his hand, Noah watched it try to run, but its head exploded into a bloody mess.

‘So my mind is this powerful,’ Noah thought, although, he currently conversed with the system.

[[Yes it is, and stronger than normal. When you interact with other cultivators you’ll realize this more]] The system replied, Noah, nodding in response, while his eyes fell on the over twenty dead beasts around him, all of their heads having exploded.

During his two days in the forest, Noah had learned that his mind, or rather consciousness, could interact with his environment, and all he had to do was apply a little pressure on the bodies of peak tier 2 beasts to kill them.

He had also learned that he couldn’t level up like he normally did, which was because he had lost his access to normal mana, while his body ran on the speed forces energy.

But according to the system’s explanation, when he kills a tier 3 beast the system would automatically extract their mana cores, which would then be transformed into energy he could absorb. Though he hadn’t tested that function.

Being cut off from Mana had given Noah a lot of advantages and disadvantages, one of those disadvantages being cultivating. He couldn’t simply sit outside and cultivate. No energy would be drawn towards his body.

Rather, he had to enter a room within a different space that was connected to the speed force.

Noah understood most of the details about his new state, but some still managed to escape his grasp.

Like the fact that he had to be conscious of how much energy he used.

Now; his superspeed was powered by his speedcore, which he would also use to cast spells.

The system had explained that having his connection to mana, cut; His core would have to bear the weight of his spells and running since before the event, two different energies were playing a role in his body.

Mana for running most of his body’s functions and spells, while the speed forces energy strengthened his body and granted him speed.

The bodies of the beasts suddenly disappeared, he had stored them in his inventory. .

Noah also asked the system how he would strengthen his mind, and it only told him about a book he would read to expand it.

This greatly confused him, but he didn’t focus too much on the matter, after all, everything about his current state wasn’t normal.

His hybrid status wasn’t complete for reasons the system didn’t reveal to him, and also why his hair changed color.

Although his white hair looked cool, Noah figured it would stand out too much, but he still left it as it was.

Expanding his consciousness to its limits Noah wondered what to do now.

He couldn’t simply level up, and the system had told him to wait until the countdown on his spells ended before he would receive his new body cultivation manual and soul core cultivation manual.

Which left cultivating his core, but he currently had a full tank. Killing tier 2 beasts didn’t force him to go all-out or even utilize any of his current abilities.

There was also the option of distributing his stat points, but that would only take a few seconds, and he wanted to keep them for now since according to the system they were more valuable than he thought.

The speed force explained that now that his body had evolved past the limits of tier 2, things like his stat points could be gotten any time, mostly from converting mana to it.

Frankly, Noah didn’t understand why that was so. He could already transform normal mana into something he could cultivate, but according to the system, stat points contained the simplest form of energy, one that could be used in different aspects of his strength.

The explanation sounded good until the system told him how much it would cost him.

Which was that more than half the energy in a standard Mana core would have to be cut off to achieve that simpleness, but Noah didn’t like that idea.

[[How about leaving this area and finding a town]] The system advised Noah, who shrugged at its words.

Personally, Noah wasn’t ready to interact with humans. His experience with the royal family left a bad taste in his mouth, coupled with the death of James, but he didn’t want to think too much about that topic.

The thought of returning to Vonol and meeting Jesse crossed his mind, but he couldn’t imagine himself breaking the news to the young man, and he also didn’t know where he was.

It seemed that he had been transported from the mansion the incident happened, to count Pedro’s domain, who he wished wasn’t dead. As he would love to end the man himself.

Noah’s eyes landed on the vegetation around him, he wished to test his ice affinity but he still had a few days to go.

[[Then what about more hunting]] The system wrote.

‘I’ve been doing that for almost two days now, I want stronger beasts,’ Noah complained.

‘I know my spells aren’t ready but from how your explanation of how strong I am, and from the numbers in my stats, I should be able to take a few beasts with my body,’ Noah said admiring the quietness of that area.

[[Then you should do just that]]

‘How? My consciousness hasn’t picked up any tier 3 beast, and we should be very deep into the forest,’ Noah replied.

[[Then make a call. Due to your incomplete hybrid status you have gained a few features from the SPEEDLINGS]]

‘How do I even do that?’

[[Just open your mouth with the intention of calling and let your body do the rest]]

Noah furrowed his brows at those words, they made absolutely no sense, but he still tried anyway.

With his consciousness expanded to its very limits, Noah opened his mouth with the vague intent of calling or rather challenging a tier 3 beast…

Shock filled his mind when he felt a tiny portion of his energy leave the black spinning object that was his speedcore, and enter his vocal cords.

A powerful high-pitched sound that Noah affirmed wasn’t audible to the human ear, escaped his mouth, as his surroundings shook from the power in those sound waves.

Shutting his mouth in surprise, Noah felt another wave of energy; also minute in quantity, flow to his soul core and influence his consciousness.

A faint tremor spread in his mind, as Noah felt an emotion he couldn’t totally explain. A few Instants after that event, something strong struck the range of his consciousness

A tier 3 beast had heard his challenge and accepted it!
