Unfettered Retribution: Slaughtering My Way through the World
Chapter 491: Infiltrating the Ancient Village
Chapter 491 -225: Infiltrating the Ancient Village
Xiao Qian gave a slight nod and walked past.
Chen Xuan and Chu Shanhe both followed him automatically.
To be honest, Chu Shanhe was feeling a little tense.
In all honesty, he was a bold yet careful man. In his younger years, he had roamed the world, gone through fire and flood—what kind of situation hadn’t he seen?
But now, they had actually managed to infiltrate the heart of the ancient village.
And to make matters worse, countless experts were gathered inside the village at this very moment…
The thought alone was nerve-wracking.
If they were discovered, they would die without even knowing how it happened.
“Lord Xiao, what are you doing here?”
Suddenly, two figures from the Qin family Village flew over and landed outside the ancient hall. They bowed respectfully to Xiao Qian and asked their question.
“I’ve come to see the leader.”
Xiao Qian, his face deathly pale, replied.
“But Lord Lu ordered before he went into seclusion that none of us should disturb him!”
One of the experts from the Qin family Village spoke up.
“Does that include me?”
Xiao Qian’s gaze turned icy as he looked at the man.
“Th-this…”
The expert from the Qin family Village felt a chill run down his spine. He subconsciously took a step back, the hairs on his arms standing on end.
It was as if countless insects were crawling all over his skin.
A grim, ghastly feeling.
His skin crawled with an unsettling sensation.
His companion’s expression changed. He subconsciously pulled his partner back, cupped his fists, and said, “He didn’t specify that, my lord. Please, go ahead. But the two behind you…”
“They are of great use to me. They’re crucial for creating the blood talismans, so don’t ask any more questions.”
Xiao Qian said icily.
“Yes, Lord Xiao!”
The man from the Qin family Village replied respectfully once more and backed away.
Without another word, Xiao Qian led Chen Xuan and Chu Shanhe straight toward the ancient hall.
It was like passing through a bizarre, invisible screen.
A sinister, foul aura washed over them.
It was as if countless vengeful spirits and fierce ghosts were wailing in their ears, or as if they had stepped into a stinking, viscous pool of blood. All sorts of malicious thoughts and energies surged toward them.
The color drained from Chen Xuan and Chu Shanhe’s faces. They instinctively circulated their True Essence to protect themselves, feeling as if their bodies were sinking.
It felt as if something below was grabbing hold of them, dragging them downward.
And so it went.
After what felt like an eternity,
they finally felt solid ground beneath their feet.
The two men were finally on stable footing.
They looked around, marveling at their surroundings.
‘It really is an alternate dimension!’
They appeared to be in a strange, dark canyon. It was pitch-black all around, except for a road ahead of them that led into the distance.
The road, too, was filled with a foul and bizarre aura.
It was as if an air of endless bloodshed and darkness lingered upon it.
“Something’s wrong. This aura is almost identical to the dark tides…”
Chu Shanhe’s expression flickered as he sent a mental message. “Be careful. Don’t tell me the Qin family Village originally came from the depths of the darkness, did they?”
‘From the depths of the darkness?’
A glint appeared in Chen Xuan’s eyes.
‘It’s possible!’
‘Otherwise, out of everyone they could have sought out, why did they specifically choose the Qin family Village?’
‘There’s clearly some history or connection there.’
“Do you know the origins of the Qin family Village?”
Chen Xuan felt a chill and sent a mental message to Xiao Qian.
“Their ancestors did indeed come out from the depths of the darkness. They’ve always wanted to return, which is why we sought them out. It’s not just them; all the ancient villages are the same.”
Xiao Qian replied via mental message.
“What?”
The color drained from Chu Shanhe and Chen Xuan’s faces.
‘Damn it, I knew something was wrong! Motherfucker!’
Chu Shanhe cursed inwardly.
‘So all those ancient villages came from the depths of the darkness.’
‘And here I was, thinking they just didn’t want to join the secular world and that was why they never entered any of the cities.’
‘Turns out they were just too disdainful to bother.’
‘They still had their sense of superiority.’
“What about the other factions? Are there any that came from the depths of the darkness?”
Chen Xuan continued to ask.
“I don’t know about that. I only know that the ancient villages are. The Qin family Village, in particular, has deep ties to our Hope Palace. They were once disciples of our Hope Palace.”
Xiao Qian sent via mental message.
‘Hope Palace?’
Chen Xuan and Chu Shanhe’s expressions turned grim.
‘That must be a major power from the depths of the darkness, right?’
They continued forward, communicating as they went.
Suddenly, a RUSHING sound came from up ahead. The yin energy grew thicker, accompanied by waves of a putrid stench.
Their gazes hardened, and they immediately looked toward the sound.
At the far end, they saw a pitch-black river flowing silently past. It exuded a sinister chill, and waves of a nauseating stench that made one want to gag emanated from it.
“The Yin Spring!”
The color drained from Chu Shanhe’s face. He sent a mental message, “Legend says the Yin Spring is a river that flows out of the underworld. What is it doing here?”
“The path ends here. The river is flowing downward. Should we follow it?”
Chen Xuan said, pointing to the river.
