Chapter 490 -225: Infiltrating the Ancient Village

With a wave of his hand, a bolt of venomous black Elemental Power shot directly toward the Tree Spirit.

The Tree Spirit’s expression changed drastically as it hurriedly dodged.

It managed to evade the attack in the nick of time.

“So they’re the ones who saved Lord Xiao’s life? My apologies, I misspoke. Please don’t be offended, Lord Xiao!”

the Tree Spirit said hastily.

“The next time you see me, keep your eyes peeled. If you don’t, I won’t hesitate to gouge them out for you!”

Xiao Qian said coldly.

Without a backward glance, he walked straight ahead.

Chen Xuan, Chu Shanhe, and Wuu Biao immediately followed.

The Old Tree Spirit stood behind them, meek and subservient, not daring to utter another word.

After passing through this area, their path was clear.

The black village came fully into view.

On the outside, it looked like an ordinary village.

However, a massive statue stood at the village entrance.

It was several hundred meters tall, majestic and divine, carved entirely from dark gray granite. With the face of an eagle and the body of a man, its eyes were piercingly sharp. Even though it was motionless, it exuded an invisible pressure.

“Young Hero Chen, Alliance Leader Chu, be careful of that stone statue. It’s the god the Qin family Village worships, and it’s incredibly sinister… If you have even the slightest unusual thought, the god will sense it.”

Wuu Biao transmitted cautiously.

“Don’t worry, I know.”

Chu Shanhe transmitted in a solemn tone, “Years ago, when I was training nearby, I witnessed how terrifying this statue is. But as long as you keep your mind perfectly calm, you won’t be detected by it!”

“Okay.”

Chen Xuan nodded immediately.

The group walked forward one by one.

They passed by the stone statue.

The statue was originally as still as a mountain, but suddenly, a chilling Spiritual Power descended. In an instant, Chen Xuan felt as if a pair of invisible, cold hands were slowly caressing him.

These hands stroked him from his physical body to his very soul…

It was a sinister, icy, and utterly malevolent sensation.

But he steeled his mind, showing no reaction, and simply walked past quietly.

“Hm?”

Suddenly, a soft sound of surprise came from within the statue.

Its pair of stone eyes seemed to snap open, their gaze fixed directly on Xiao Qian at the front.

It seemed to have sensed something on him.

“Lord Xiao, have you by chance suffered a severe injury to your soul?”

An ethereal voice emanated from within the statue.

“Yes,” Xiao Qian responded, his face pale. “I fought Yama Chen and was burned by his strange fire. I barely managed to escape. Now I need to find my captain.”

“I see. In that case, carry on.”

the voice from the statue said again.

The group started walking again.

Only the statue’s stone eyeballs swiveled slightly, still tracking Xiao Qian.

It seemed the more it thought, the more it felt something was amiss.

…

The group officially entered the village.

Soon, a member of the Qin family Village came to greet them.

“Lord Xiao, you’ve returned?”

“Yes. How is the ritual progressing?”

Xiao Qian asked.

“It’s seventy percent complete. The Clan Leader and the experts from the other ancient villages have gone to help. It should be finished within the next two days.”

said Qin Yi, the villager before them.

“Good. And the captain? Are the blood talismans refined yet?”

Xiao Qian asked, looking at her.

“Lord Lu is in seclusion. He should be hurrying to finish the blood talismans now.”

Qin Yi said.

“Good. I’ll go check on him in a bit. You are dismissed; get back to your work.”

Xiao Qian said.

“Yes, Lord Xiao.”

Qin Yi cupped her fists and withdrew.

The group departed quickly.

“This Qin family Village has a lot of guards. We’ve been questioned at least three times on the way here.”

Chen Xuan transmitted to Chu Shanhe.

“Indeed. There’s a reason they’re called a forbidden ancient village. There are actually many villages like this in the Shallow Darkness, and our greatest fear is that they will unite.”

Chu Shanhe transmitted, “Once these ancient villages begin to ally, they will upend the entire Shallow Darkness. It’s no exaggeration to say they could wipe out any other power. Aside from Feng Wuji, no one else could stop them.”

“They’re that terrifying?”

Chen Xuan’s expression grew solemn.

‘These villages really are like cancerous tumors.’

‘If I don’t wipe them out, I’ll never have a moment’s peace.’

‘Especially those clan leaders from the ancient villages, who had all shown such intense malice toward me before.’

‘No.’

‘I have to get stronger as fast as possible and annihilate them all.’

As the group walked on, they encountered many more people from the Qin family Village.

But they were not stopped a single time.

Wuu Biao led the way, and they finally arrived at the rear of the village.

An ancient, pitch-black hall appeared before them.

It didn’t look magnificent from the outside.

In fact, it was rather squat, its exterior looking as though it were cast from blood, giving off a gloomy, sinister aura.

The ancient hall had no doors. The light inside was dim, and it was impossible to see to the far end.

“Lu Chenzhou is in seclusion in there.”

Wuu Biao transmitted cautiously, “But I’ve never been inside, so I don’t know the specifics. The people of the Qin family Village guard that place very carefully.”

“Is that so?”

A glint appeared in Chen Xuan’s eye. He wanted to use his Sun God’s Eye but was worried it would attract the attention of an expert. Suddenly, an idea struck him. He said, “Wuu Biao, it’s not that I don’t trust you, but to prevent you from tipping anyone off, I’ll have to inconvenience you for a moment. I’m going to put you in my Inner Realm for now. Once we’ve withdrawn safely, I’ll let you out. Deal?”

Wuu Biao froze. Before he could even react, Chen Xuan grabbed him. WHOOSH. He was instantly pulled into the Inner Realm.

Chen Xuan then looked toward the hall and transmitted to Xiao Qian, “Xiao Qian, take us over there now!”

“Yes, Master!”
