605 The Hunt
Blood trickled to the ground, first one drop then two, until a fountain of blood poured down on the Demi Gods, whose eyes widened in terror.
They were still not able to move, but the situation ahead of them had changed drastically.
“After fighting the Lightning Titan, this baby squeal is nothing!” Dilan loud out loud, while holding a humongous silver greatsword in his hand, dark blood trickling down the razor-sharp blade.
Gravity pulled the Blood Orc’s corpse down to the ground, and Dilan, who stood on the monster’s shoulder was pulled downward as well.
With a light jump and manifestation of a weak draft to slow down his fall, he ended up on the Orc’s back after it smashed in the ground right next to the three Demi Gods.
Dilan didn’t even look at the three Demi Gods. Instead, he threw a glance at Oricalm before his eyes flicked to the head of the Blood Orc.
“A Tier-4 Blood Orc Champion with a Unique Bloodline. Does it belong to the Giants or one of the Titans? Its strength was not too weak either, not bad, not bad at all!” Dilan praised the dead, and headless warrior.
He smiled lightly, not hiding his astonishment about the Berserk Roar’s power. There was something special about the Blood Orc Champion for it to possess the power to inflict the horrifying fear of death within Demi Gods.
Dilan knew what his group had gone through. Thus, it was quite obvious that ordinary mental attacks shouldn’t pose any threat to them.
This made the Gate even more dangerous…and interesting!
With excitement gleaming in his eyes, Dilan transformed Oricalm back to the ring shape before he approached the Blood Orc Champion’s head.
He pierced through the eye of the Orc with his flat hand until he reached its brain. When he got his hand on the Essence Crystal, Dilan retrieved his hand with a simple nod.
With a simple motion, he conjured water around his hand to clean it and the Essence Crystal, which gave him a clearer look at the Essence Crystal’s interior.
Dilan observed the Essence Crystal for a few minutes with the Mystic Eyes activated. After that, he sighed deeply before he stored both the corpse of the Blood Orc Champion and the Essence crystal.
“The Blood Orcs within this Gate possess traces of a sub-bloodline called Hylavia Mercur Titan. I don’t want to go into detail, but it’s the bloodline of a Titan, who is adept at inflicting fear…but that is something you guys should have realized already, I guess!” He explained not realizing that everyone was dead-silent, at first.
Only when he looked at the others did he realize their expressions. Everyone stared blankly at him, even Rory and the others.
“What’s the problem? There are no more monsters nearby, so why is everyone acting like this? Is a parasite crawling into my eyes?” Dilan rubbed his eyes and he transformed Oricalm into a flat plate to look at his mirrored image.
‘There is just a little bit of blood… what’s the problem?’
“How were you unfazed…no forget that…how the hell did you behead a Peak Tier-4 Monster with just one slash? Blood Orcs have several layers of protection around their vital spots, which makes them harder to kill than any other kind of orc…and…and from the information we gathered, we figured that the Blood Orcs within the Gate are even stronger and more resilient…” One of the three annoying Demi Gods asked, barely able to speak in one sentence without stopping every now and then.
He stared at Dilan in pure terror, not understanding what kind of monster they had just accepted in their rows.
“Didn’t I just tell you that the Blood Orcs in here have the Hylavia Mercur Titan sub-bloodline? Of course, they’re stronger and more resilient! And why shouldn’t I be able to kill one of these pawns with one strike, I used nearly three-quarters of the little mana I have in order to kill that small monster. The least he could do was to die at once!” Dilan complained.
He sighed deeply and looked down to his feet which had already healed.
Because the Blood Orc Champion had acted so suddenly, attacking the three Demi Gods, which was against his expectations, he had to use the Zephyr Step movement technique at the second stage, breaking his ankles three times in a quarter of a second.
Afterward, he used the first slash of the 72 Slashes of Destruction Sword Style to behead the Blood Orc Champion in a neat manner.
He could have drawn out the battle and saved lots of mana, using only Oricalm’s razor-sharp blade and his raw physical strength ot kill the Blood Orc Champion, but that would have resulted in the death of the three Demi Gods. That was not something Dilan wanted even if these idiots seemed rather weak for Demi Gods.
Some looked at Dilan weirdly but they understood that he had just used more than 500 Units of Mana to move faster than the Blood Orc Champion and to behead him with a single strike.
If Dilan used some sort of super ability that required a tremendous amount of mana to execute a single attack it made sense that the young Tier-4 Ascender killed the Blood Orc Champion…or that was what the bunch of Demi Gods that didn’t belong to Dilan’s group wanted to tell themselves.
He waved off his hand while looking at the beautiful human form of the Red Dragon.
“I already replenished enough mana to fight and kill a bunch of those little pawns. In fact, I only had to use so much mana because I was forced to react quickly and protect these…lovely friends of mine!”
He pointed at the three Demi gods, who flinched when they noticed that Dilan meant them. Under normal circumstances, they would try to make excuses, or bombard Dilan with verbal attacks to distract from the big mess they did…they had been too careless!
One of them cleared his throat and approached Dilan with slow steps.
“Thank you for savi–…I mean helping us out a little bit. I’m glad that we have someone like you on our side…Dilan Cier, it was, right?”
He stretched his hand out and wanted to introduce himself. Dilan thought about it for a moment, and he glanced back to the others just to sigh inwardly.
‘Looks like I overdid it a little bit…but if it results in getting accepted by the leader of all factions it was worth it!’
With that in mind, Dilan grasped the hand of the Demi God before he introduced himself properly. Following that, everyone introduced themselves, and minutes of frustrating chit-chat started.
Dilan looked back to his friends to seek help dozens of times, but they ignored him while giving him gazes with numerous meanings.
‘Who told you to show off right from the start?!’
‘That’s the punishment for being a smart ass!’
‘Uncle, you’re so cool! Now…become the Overlord of the flying island and spread your empire!’
Dilan was not sure how he interpreted the last gaze that came, obviously, from his nephew, but he was pretty sure that his flaming gaze meant exactly that!
‘Ai…how will I explain to Lara that her son turned out to be a crazy lunatic?… She will kill me…’
