Undying Warlord

604 Claim the Gate?

Dilan’s words shocked everyone, but that was exactly what he didn’t really understand.

“Eh…I don’t want to step on anyone’s feet…but did you guys even think about claiming the Gate?” He asked, somewhat hesitant to listen to hear the truth, or what he presumed to be the truth.

“Claim the Gate? What the hell are you talking about?” One of the Demi Gods belonging to the third human faction asked, visibly angered about basically everything Dilan said up to now.

Dilan had just returned from the City of Trials, and it looked like he had just joined the Undying Group, almost as if he was the Apostle of Trouble.

Dilan was not known by everyone and he knew that it would take some time until the other factions would trust him but that was perfectly fine with him.

He didn’t really have a problem not being trusted.

Thus, he turned to Sven, who shook his head as well.

“Alright, I will explain the principle behind claiming Gates then. It will take just a minute,” Dilan said before he used some mana to manifest the known map of the Gate’s interior above him in the air so that everyone could see it.

The redwood forest was a big portion of the known map, which was more than enough for him to explain everything. He marked the Gate with a big red dot and made a big circle with a range of five kilometers around it.

“The reason why Gates can be claimed is to make sure that nobody will be able to infiltrate the territory of other races. It’s still possible to trick the Gates or those with the authority of the Gate but that is not something we should be concerned about right now.

By claiming a Gate you will be given permission to change the conditions one has to meet to enter and leave a Gate. For example, you can say that only citizens of the flying island are allowed to step through the Gate. This makes things a lot easier, doesn’t it?

Now we have to figure out the best way to claim the Gate. The safest way would probably be to protect the Gate for the next 30 days and to make sure that no monster will ill intentions toward the Guardians of the Gate will be able to enter a radius of five kilometers.

The fasted way to claim a Gate is to request a Claim Mission from the system. These missions can be quite dangerous but you will be able to claim a Gate rather quickly.

In the end, the Primordial Ascension’s system will provide easier missions if Ascenders, who habitat a place close to the Gate. The missions won’t be that much easier, but they will be passable and adjusted to the level of the combat force that requests them,” He explained calmly, just before his voice disappeared as he heard a rustling from his left.

“So if I request a mission alone rather than a group, the mission will be easier?” Someone asked worriedly, and Dilan could hear footsteps from his right side just a moment later. The Ascender, who had asked a question was about to reach the Gate and request the system’s help to provide him with more information about the Claim Missions.

However, instead of looking to his right, Dilan was more interested in the situation to his left. The corners of his lips curled upward as he absent-mindedly answered the middle-aged man’s question.

“That doesn’t matter. You cannot fool the system that easily. They will scan your thoughts before assigning a mission.”

The middle-aged man halted in his tracks and looked at Dilan with a glare, just to notice that the young man didn’t even pay him any attention.

‘Does he think that I’m a fool?’

But little did he know that Dilan didn’t think about the middle-aged man, at all! “Ah, by the way…I forgot to mention something!”

“If a Gate was claimed once and someone else meets all conditions to conquer and claim the Gate for themselves, we won’t be able to enter the Gate or access it from the flying island’s side. The exact same happens if someone else claims the Gate after our grace period ran out!

As for the remaining Ascenders inside the Gate, they would have to reclaim it in order to return back home!” Dilan seemed to enjoy handing out more and more frightening information because his smile was getting broader by the minute.

“What grace period…and why should we even try to claim the Gate, to begin with then?? You really don’t make any sense, newcomer!” A third Demi God from the other faction said, but Dilan couldn’t care about their opinion of him.

There was no need for him to care about them. However, what he cared about was the safety of the flying island…and he needed as many powerful Ascenders as possible to make sure that the flying island…and his family and friends were safe!

“Because you don’t want Blood Orcs to turn your friends and family into playthings?” He thus asked, before his voice seemed to disappear into thin air.

All of a sudden, the rustling to the group’s left intensified and a six-meter-tall colossus of an Orc emerged from behind the large bushes.

The red-eyed Orc roared out, activating the most common Berserk Roar ability to temporarily inflict inhuman fear in the minds of everyone, preventing the Demi Gods from moving.

Even Yvonne and Rory were momentarily restricted, which left them with no chance to move. All they could do was watch how the Blood Orc appeared right behind the three Demi Gods.

Whether it was a coincidence or fate, the three Demi Gods were the same bunch of Ascenders, who had been trying their best to find fault at everything Dilan said.

Rising the huge battle axe he was grasping tightly, the Blood Orc’s expression turned into utter bliss as it cleaved down.

And just a moment later the world turned bloody red.
