‘Even if they don’t evolve, my abilities are already very powerful. I bound these abilities to my Essence because they were a necessity to survive, not because of any other long-term goal!’
That was Dilan’s thought when he began mulling over the question of whether he would regret binding specific abilities to his Essence crystal if they wouldn’t have the ‘potential’ to evolve.
He didn’t regret choosing the abilities he had bound to his Essence crystal but if he would receive the chance to change his choice, he would probably do it.
In most situations, one could have made a better choice but that didn’t mean the given predicaments at that time allowed a better choice. Thus, Dilan was more than satisfied with his overall decision, which he put to action by turning into a flash after he had activated [Switch], [Walk of Thunder], and [Second Acceleration].
Switch was focused on accelerating his Mana instead of his Strength, while both agility-boosting abilities were fully unleashed to make sure that he would be the fastest being all over Camsun.
Rory wreaked havoc using her fire and Draconic Powers, Kaeldur made use of his dark energy, and Dilan along with the Essence of Darkness kept wielding his Power of Darkness using more and more mana, resulting in an even more terrifying result than before.
As Dilan kept feeding all four Chaos Islands, their movements slowed down rapidly and it was only a matter of minutes before they would be fully nourished, growing to the extent that they would inevitably reach maturity.
This fact was more than enough for all the Ascenders to visibly relax. The tension they had felt was released at once and there was only a need of a few million additional corpses until the tiring charade would be over.
By the time all the Chaos Islands had slowed down, Kaeldur’s time was about to elapse. The black Demon realized this and he turned over to Dilan, whom he looked at with an intrigued expression.
“I wonder if your strength will be enough to overcome the dangers that await you if you stay on this planet,” He spoke out loud and his voice traveled through the chaotic and loud battlefield until his words reached Dilan.
In response, Dilan could only smile. He shrugged his shoulders, feeling unsure whether he would actually survive all the obstacles that would be thrown in his way, or if he would possibly be devoured by a stronger opponent.
Everything was possible and given the situations he had faced in the last few months, Dilan was pretty sure that the chances of him dying were thousands of times higher than his surviving and overcoming all the obstacles.
But that was how life was. Dilan would have to accept getting killed and devoured if his strength would be too shallow to defeat his opponents. That was a bitter fact but something he could live with until the end of time.
“Let’s find out how long I will survive,” Dilan muttered before he added adamantly, “I will meet you again, that’s something I can promise you!”
Even if Dilan couldn’t actually be 100% sure that he would meet Kaeldur once again, he had the feeling that the black Demon wouldn’t be too far away from him.
Maybe it would take a bunch of years until they would encounter one another but that was not actually a long timespan, considering that Tier-3 Ascenders were able to live up to 1000 years.
The higher the potency of an Ascenders’ Essence crystal, the longer it would be able to live. Their cells would rejuvenate whenever they absorbed more Essences and it would be possible to live forever as long as they absorbed enough Essences even if they would never reach the sixth Tier!
Reaching such a high Tier was something only a handful of existences would attain in their entire life. On the contrary, there were many races that could be considered immortal because they could live forever whether they absorbed Essence or not.
Vampires were such a race as they only needed blood as nourishment to maintain their youthfulness, vitality, and vigor.
“You guys are done!” Kathrine suddenly thundered as she dashed past Dilan. She was wielding a longsword in one of her hands and slashed it at the closest Chaos Monster. The monster tried to retaliate but the power behind Kathrine’s slash was not something it could handle easily.
It was pushed back and a deep gash tore the monster’s chest. Dilan smiled lightly upon seeing the deep gash because his Power Appraisal told him that the monster Kathrine had attacked was a Tier-3 existence.
Seeing that Kathrine was able to inflict an injury upon such a powerful monster was a nice feeling, especially if one were to consider that Kathrine didn’t seem to have used more than one ability while attacking.
“Good job, Kathrine!” Dilan commended her as he kept feeding the Chaos Islands.
Simultaneously, his attention was pulled over to Kaeldur, whose powers began wildly fluctuating all of a sudden. The black Demon, who was created out of something that looked like a compressed dark fog, lifted his claws high in the air. Massive amounts of mana, dark energy, and the Essence of Darkness erupted from Kaeldur as he smiled at Dilan with his grim face.
“You are a very interesting human. It’s rare to find existences like you,” Kaeldur said before he quietly acknowledged something he had hidden before, “If not for the restrictions of the Blood Eclipse Necklace, I would have taken you with me by now!”
Dilan’s expression didn’t say anything about what he felt about this revelation but that was not something Kaeldur was dying to know either. He would say whatever he wanted even if it was just for the sake of making sure that he made his point.
“I will destroy all ‘Swirls of Chaos’, and you can have your fun after I leave. Consider this as a small gift from me!” The black Demon shouted before he unleashed every little bit of the power that had been unsealed temporarily.
A massive amount of mana, dark energy, and traces of Kaeldur’s Essence of Darkness had been unleashed through the Demon’s arms, and they made it seem as if Kaeldur’s arms were elongating like an endless tunnel.
Dark fog was being released explosively through his arms and it took only seconds before the vast majority of the battlefield was enshrouded by the dark fog. The density of the dark fog was almost non-existent and one could see everything around themselves, including the currents of darkness that could clearly be seen and perceived as well.
The Chaos Monsters that came in touch with the dark fog began to scream and writhe in pain as the darkness currents pierced deep inside their bodies using the already existing entrances inside the monsters’ bodies.
Dilan looked at the unfolding scenario with great interest because Kaeldur was clearly able to affect millions of monsters at the same time, but he didn’t say a single word.
pa(nd)a no vel He could tell that he was given a precious gift, and it would be rude to reject it. Thus, Dilan accept it thankfully as he looked at the black Demon, who turned around.
“You shall meet the Eclipse Child of Darkness…in the future…he will come for you and demonstrate to you what true power looks like!” Kaeldur prophesied before he walked toward the black Gate of Demons that manifested the moment Kaeldur had destroyed the fake Swirls of Chaos of the Hordes of Chaos and Destruction.
“I will definitely encounter the Eclipse Child of Darkness…I can feel it!” Dilan said, and weirdly enough a name he had never heard before popped up in his head.
‘Nial…Nial Orin…’
