Chapter 885 - Chapter 885: Chapter 877: Ending. Part 4

Chapter 885: Chapter 877: Ending. Part 4

“It should be…”

Theo Dunn set aside everything and hurried to the headquarters.

Joining him was the legal team of Dunn Group.

“Mr. Turner, if their evidence is conclusive, does my dad have no chance?”

On the way, Theo seized the time to discuss strategies with Mr. Turner.

Mr. Turner was not quite clear about the situation, so he talked cautiously.

“That depends on what evidence they have.”

“What if there’s compelling evidence, could there be a reduction in sentencing due to statute of limitations or other factors?”

Mr. Turner shook his head, “No, if it’s intentional harm, no matter how many years have passed, the punishment remains the same.”

Mr. Turner didn’t know that Theo’s family had committed so many sins. After hearing Theo’s words, he couldn’t help but grumble in his heart.

What had Mr. Dunn done to cause such panic and disarray in young Mr. Dunn?

Mr. Turner assumed it was an economic crime, “However, the sentence for such cases is not heavy, young Mr. Dunn, you don’t need to worry too much.”

His comfort was entirely off the mark.

Theo absentmindedly nodded, lowered his head, and looked up a bunch of information on his phone.

At the headquarters, a receptionist asked him what the matter was.

“Hello, I’m Jayden Dunn’s son. I want to see my father.”

The officer flipped through the records and responded expressionlessly.

“Sorry, Jayden Dunn is involved in a very serious case, visits are not allowed.”

Theo was anxious, “He hasn’t been convicted, lawyers can always see him, right?”

The officer answered him solemnly.

“Within forty-eight hours, no one can. When the time comes, we will notify you.”

Theo Dunn and Mr. Turner returned without success.

“Young Mr. Dunn, see if there are any other avenues to try and arrange a meeting with your father,”

Mr. Turner was still in the dark, thinking it was an economic issue and that there was room to manoeuvre.

However, Theo knew in his heart that Mr. Jarvis probably had some critical evidence.

“I’ll think of something…”

Mr. Turner was restless too, “Then I’ll go home tonight and dig through some old cases, see if I can find a breakthrough.”

Theo nodded, saying “Okay!”, but in his heart, he knew that his father’s prospects looked grim.

Just like his mother, once taken away, she had never managed to get out.

Even after her mental breakdown, she was still kept under strict supervision in a designated institution. It wasn’t much better than being in prison.

On returning to his office, Theo made many calls and leveraged many connections to glean some information.

“Young Mr. Dunn, your father is involved in a transnational homicide case from twenty years ago. All you can do now is wait at home. There’s no use fussing about it.”

The man’s words were very suggestive.

In essence, he was telling Theo not to waste his time as it was pointless and he might even drag himself into it.

Theo was taken aback.

Ever since he heard his father was taken away, he had assumed it was due to the finding of crucial evidence related to Richelle’s “victimization”.

But what this man was talking about was a transnational homicide case from more than twenty years ago.

Was it the case of Richelle’s parents’ car accident?

Theo wanted to find out more, but the other party was no longer willing to talk. After a few evasive responses, the call was ended.

Theo spent the entire afternoon making calls to Jayden Dunn’s friends and long-time business partners, hoping they could help or intervene, but all he got were vague answers and outright refusals.

Within a short time, Theo found himself caught between a rock and a hard place, with his father being arrested and the company in turmoil.

HIs old friends and intimate business partners seemed to have all vanished.

In the vast city of Lordon, it appeared as if he, Theo, was left utterly alone!

Richelle Dunn received the news from Nathan Caroule at the military hospital, saying Mr. Jarvis had gone to the Dunns’ and taken Jayden Dunn away.

Richelle was puzzled, “Did Mr. Jarvis’ side come across any new evidence? Or did they just have suspicious evidence and take dad in for questioning?”

Nathan’s call came through.

Richelle walked out onto the balcony to answer the call.

“The feedback from Mr. Jarvis’ side is that they took Jayden Dunn because he’s implicated in a transnational homicide case from over twenty years ago. Whether there’s evidence or not, it’s not very clear.”

Richelle felt even more perplexed, “Is that about my parents’ case? Did they find crucial evidence?”

“Perhaps…”

Nathan wasn’t certain either while the people from Mr. Jarvis’ side didn’t dare to speak too explicitly.

After hanging up on Nathan, Richelle stood on the balcony, frowning as she sorted through the recent events.
