The eye didn't answer. It just watched everything as it always had.

The cocoon of dark energy around Rion hardened into layers of pitch-black, and the insides were filled with a pitch-black liquid swirling chaotically.

The strings of fate penetrated through it and continued to enter his eyes; however, Rion no longer had a look of disastrous agony. Instead, he was in a state where he could feel nothing.

Although Noir couldn't see what was happening within the cocoon, he could feel the changes in the rhythms of Rion's heart.

At rest, the human heart on average beats about 1 to 1.5 times per second; a demon heart beats twice as fast, and a devil heart beats five times faster than the latter.

Thus, the creation of demonic energy in a devil heart was nearly instant, and at the moment, Rion's demon heart was being evolved into a devil heart.

Noir could feel Rion's heartbeat rising not in a chaotic, but orderly manner.

Inside the cocoon, all of the demonic energy was gathering around Rion's heart and turning darker and darker with each passing moment.

However, as it entered his heart to change it, thin, worm-like golden strings wiggled out and reversed the changes instantly.

Feeling Rion's heartbeat reverse to that of a demon, Noir frowned and muttered, "What could possibly hinder devilisation?"

The memories that Noir had gained from binding with Rion's spear had countless dark spots in them; these were the parts related to the system.

For a long while, Noir thought of various possibilities that could stop one from turning into a devil, and out of many, only two were possible for Rion.

First: Absolute Spark was defending its beholder from the corruption of demonic energy.

Second: Rion had the blessing of the first Mother.

The first Mother was the Mother of All Elves and Nature; her ability to heal contended with the second Mother's ability to destroy, and the Monarch's ability to control.

So if Rion had her blessing, he could deny devilitasation.

'He already has two of the strongest authorities; I'd be damned if he also has the first Mother's blessing.'

Suddenly, his red eyes shone in understanding, and he mumbled, "His eyes are also turning into those of ancient giants... that alone makes him holder of almost three authorities."

Noir didn't know if that wasn't the Devil of Harmony, then who was.

Meanwhile, Rion found himself floating in a pitch-black world with a dazzling starry flame just a few steps away from him.

The flame looked like gleaming stars had been used to form it, its radiance so vast and soft that even the absolute darkness couldn't dare swallow it.

However, he also noticed something absurdly strange: the silver flame wasn't stopping the darkness, nor was it ending it; instead, it was living with it.

Both were present in a strange harmony that shouldn't be possible.

'What is that flame?'

Rion had already seen his fair share of absurd flames, and yet each one managed to top his expectations.

At his words, the world shifted, and the absolute darkness vanished, leaving him in front of a rather surprising scene.

"..." He stared at the figure sitting in the dark throne before him with a sharp gaze.

It was a white-haired man with glittery purple eyes. Rion knew the person better than he wanted to; he was, after all, the eldest of seven devils — The Remnant.

"It seems you are still at it," a soft and alluring chime-like voice filled the hall.

Stunned by the beautiful sound, Rion turned to it, and the instant he did, his body froze like a stone statue.

A woman wearing a long red gown was walking toward The Remnant with a faint smile on her lips.

She had long dark hair which seemed to consume everything, her purple pupils held stars in them, her skin was pale like that of a ghost, and her figure was enough to turn any man into a beast.

Yet the cold, deadly aura around her made those thoughts vanish before they were even formed.

Rion gulped and thought with a horrified look on his face, 'Who is this woman?'

The Remnant opened his eyes and lowered his head. "I have to do it, Mother."

Rion's eyes went wide, his pupils trembled as he looked at the woman with a look of pure disbelief.

This woman was none other than the Mother of All Demons and Devils.

'She looks way different than what she looked like the first time,' he remarked inwardly.

He still remembered the monstrous entity that The Remnant had shown to him. At that time, it looked no different than an abyssal horror, but now the same being looked like a demonic deity.

The woman stepped forward and softly placed a hand on The Remnant's head.

"You cannot create a singularity just because you want to, Remnant."

'Remnant? What happened to The?' Rion chuckled inwardly and focused on their conversation.

"But without it, we'll lose..." Remnant mumbled darkly.

A cold glint passed through Mother's eyes, and she mumbled, "You do not have to worry about it..."

"What are you saying, Mother?!" Remnant stood up from his dark throne. "Didn't you make us so we can be useful to you? How can I live knowing that my worthlessness will be the cause of our defeat?!"

Mother let out a sigh and pulled Remnant into her embrace.

"Although I had created you to bind Nothing, I do not want you to think of yourself as a tool. Even if the six heavens join forces, they won't be able to do anything."

A confused expression appeared on Remnant's face, and he asked, "Why is that?"

"Our Crimson heaven is different than other heavens. Unlike them, we do not have a single authority ruling above us."

Her expression darkened, and she added in a somber tone, "That is probably why the youngest has been born with such a cruel destiny."

Suddenly, her eyes flickered strangely, and her brows knit together.

"What's wrong?" Remnant asked worriedly.

She looked at him, pondering whether to tell him or not, and after a few moments, she decided to say it.

"That giant bastard is dead."

Remnant's expression turned extremely horrified, and he mumbled in a dark tone, "The Great One... is dead?"
