Chapter 313: Shadowy Entity

An hour later, Rion stood at the balcony of his room and watched the capital abuzz after the declaration of victory.

Night had already fallen and Andreus had already gone to sleep. In his condition, it was surprising that he could stay awake at all.

"A month..." he mumbled, his grip tightening on the marble railing. "A month is all I have to find out information about the giants."

There were reasons why Rion had come to Leonara. He wanted to end the war, he wanted to see the birthplace of his mother and he wanted to enjoy it. However, most importantly he wanted to know where the giants were because they were his last hope in curing Dora.

Suddenly, Rion turned his head to the back and asked in a slightly annoyed tone, "I hope you have a good enough reason to barge into my chamber, Chief Commander Selva Thorne."

Selva who was hiding within the shadows stepped out of them and muttered with a funny smirk, "I wonder how wide your Zone is, Prince Bael."

Rion didn't answer and just continued to stare into his eyes.

A moment later he turned toward the bustling capital and muttered, "What is it that has caused you to come to me?"

Selva stepped forward and stood beside Rion as he answered, "My birthland isn't Leonara. I come from a village far away, where we pray to God. The God of Shadows."

"There, we eat, study, train, sleep, and whatnot and those who are worthy are given the duty to keep Leonara from reaching the buried truth."

Rion intently listened to him and after a long while, he said, "What about your parents, friends, or family? Do you put them above your duty?"

Selva smiled. "I am a shadow cast by the Lord, what need do I have for such worldly connections? I have long since abandoned them. I only live for my duty."

Rion's gaze sharpened and he thought, 'Someone's watching us. But why can't I sense them via my Zone?'

He closed his eyes for a moment and focused entirely on his Zone.

If he couldn't sense that person it meant somewhere in his Zone was a small tear that wasn't giving him any information but to find it, he had to stop filtering and take in all the raw information.

For a moment, he weighed his options and then he disappeared from his room.

"Prince Bael?" Selva looked around with a dumbfounded expression but Rion was nowhere to be seen.

Rion appeared at the very top of the palace and sat cross-legged. Then he took a deep breath and commanded his mind to stop filtering the Zone's information.

The effect was immediate. Beads of sweat appeared across his forehead as the torrent of useless information flooded his mind, barely allowing him the ability to think.

"Shit!" He cursed and focused on that tear.

The information was a tide filling every part of his mind and finding the tear in such tribulations was utterly impossible for everyone except Rion Del Haden.

Instead of ignoring the useless info, he filtered it and soon after, he found something strange.

Rion's eyes shot open and he used Zone Relocation.

The next moment, wooden planks squeaked under his feet and his gaze landed on Selva's older brother and the innkeeper of the inn where Rion, Zaelyane, and Yuura were staying.

Though Rion no longer stayed here, Zaelyane and Yuura still did and at the moment, he couldn't sense space above the chair placed beside the innkeeper.

Seeing Rion appear out of nowhere, the innkeeper jumped from his chair and asked with a terrified expression, "Who?"

Rion shook his head and mumbled, "I thought you'd be better at acting."

Upon hearing those words, the innkeeper's terrified expression vanished and he let out a chuckle. "Was my acting that bad?"

Rion walked closer and shrugged. "Not really but you shouldn't be feeling terror from me."

The innkeeper frowned. "What do you mean?"

Rion stopped a step away from him and turned his head toward the chair upon which sat the person he couldn't sense. "When are you going to introduce yourself?"

The person didn't answer and the innkeeper muttered, "What are you doing? There's no one there." Though his eyes implied how worried and thrown off he was.

Rion let out a faint chuckle and stepped forward.

'Spiritual Eyes.'

His eyes transformed and became similar to moonstone with green rings expanding from the starry pupils.

The empty room was suddenly filled with waves of mystical aether and his gaze was locked on a shadowy void in the chair before him.

He closed the distance between them and whispered, "How long do you wish to hide?"

The shadowy void shifted. Although Rion couldn't see its expression he was sure this entity was utterly baffled by these turns of events.

Rion's lips parted and his fingers moved into various hand signs in an instant. "Trap."

The word transformed into the conceptual firmament of trapping and wrapped around the entity, stopping it from any kind of escape.

"What are you doing?" The innkeeper shouted then he pulled out a bronze striking plate and a striker stick and said, "Back away or I'd have no other choice but to command my assassins to attack the guests!"

Rion looked at the innkeeper for a moment then he turned his gaze back to the entity and thought, 'Why isn't it doing anything? Wait! Don't tell me it's because of the Honored One?'

He had genuinely forgotten that he had deactivated Intent Veil while searching for this entity.

'I think it's better this way,' he remarked inwardly and spoke in that invisible entity's mind, <Why are you not answering me?>

The entity shivered. Rion smirked and the next moment, a barely audible monotonous voice echoed in his head, <I-I apologise, My Lord.>

<Why are you here?>

<D-Didn't you send me here to keep Leonara from finding out about the giants and the buried truth?>

Rion's eyes gleamed and he remarked inwardly, 'He is so devoted to his Lord that Honored One is making me think that I am his Lord. Heh.'
