Transmigrator: I Arrived With 100 Million Years As A Time Seller!
Chapter 14: Avoiding Marital Conversations On Call
"Where are we going, Big Brother?"
"It’s going to remain a surprise until we get there."
"Really? Do I have to guess?"
"Maybe... If you want to."
"Oh well then... We are going to the mall?"
"Wrong."
"Wrong?"
Ryan and Emily had stepped out of the apartment. After returning from the hospital, he urged Emily to get dressed without giving her an idea of where they were heading.
It was something he had in mind earlier in the day before the Michelle news came up, but still, he didn’t rule it out.
"Yes, you are wrong," Ryan smiled at her.
She guessed it wrong, but he patted her head and shook it a bit.
"You can guess again," he said.
"Ummm, a basketball game? It’s Saturday, and you used to watch the community games back in Mining Street," Emily said, giving him a sharp, flashing memory.
Ryan immediately confirmed that that was true from the memories, but he simply gave a dismissing smile because she hadn’t guessed right again.
"No, not that," he laughed.
"Oh! What then?!" Emily exclaimed in frustration as she collapsed her arms at the sides of her thighs.
It only made Ryan laugh even more, and he still insisted he wouldn’t tell her where they were heading.
"Since you can’t guess it right, you will only be able to know when we get there. You will see it for yourself," Ryan spoke.
Emily finally decided to accept it, as they got into the cab and drove off.
They had taken about a thirty-minute ride before they arrived at their destination.
By the time Ryan asked her to step out, she was already staring at the large building beside them.
It was a large four-storey building that had a lot of cars parked on the ground floor.
A lot of expensive cars!
With just one look, one would notice that the majority of the vehicles here cost millions of dollars, and for some reason, Emily just couldn’t understand why they were there.
"Youngman Automobile."
That soft mutter that came out of her mouth revealed her surprise, as she finally turned to her brother.
"A car dealership, Big Brother?" she asked, her eyes filled with curiosity.
Ryan only smiled and nodded, and it was enough for a response.
It was now she realized that this was where they were going, and that it was fun enough that he had decided not to let her know beforehand.
"Are you going to get a car?" she then asked again, quite amazed.
"No, Emily..." Ryan responded. "WE are going to get a car."
That statement was definitely different from what she had said, and it was a very interesting one to say.
Emily understood it, but at the same time, she didn’t understand what he meant by "we."
When they walked into the building, they were quickly greeted by a young man who appeared to be the one in charge.
"Welcome, sir. What wheel are we offering you?" the dealer asked politely.
"A High-Performance Cadillac Escalade-V for my sister here," Ryan said as he stared at her.
Emily’s eyes widened at once.
She turned to him and made the kind of face that said, "What the hell, brother?"
Ryan only stared and nodded, reminding her that she wasn’t in a dream. Her brother was really getting her an expensive car!
"The High-Performance Cadillac Escalade-V costs four hundred and thirty thousand dollars, sir," the dealer announced.
At that point, Emily was just staring in anticipation, watching to see if Ryan really had the money to pay for such a car.
But then he only nodded, giving the dealer a casual nod, and asked him to proceed with the payment.
Immediately, Ryan paid for it and went straight for his own.
"All right. I want a Lamborghini Urus SE Performante for myself. How much does that cost?" he then asked.
"The Lamborghini Urus SE Performante costs five hundred and sixty thousand dollars, sir. But since we are on a discount promo for Lamborghini products, we are going to sell it off for five hundred and fifty thousand," the dealer revealed.
"That’s fine. Get me one."
Within a few moments, all the papers had been signed for both cars, and Ryan finalized the payment.
But then there was a problem.
Emily doesn’t know how to drive, and she wasn’t even at the legal age yet. She was just fifteen, which means that she was prohibited from laying her hands on the steering wheel, and on the other hand...
Ryan doesn’t have a driver’s license.
Those were two problems they had at that point, but it was clear that Ryan’s was easier to fix.
When both cars arrived at the apartment with the help of legal drivers, Ryan thought of how he could get the license almost immediately.
About driving a car?
Emily knew he hadn’t driven a car since he was born, but somehow, Ryan knew how to drive a car now.
The truth was that the current Ryan had once been in a world like Earth.
Planet Heta, where their technology was rapidly advancing but wasn’t quite up to Earth’s level yet.
They had cars, modern houses, and even advanced virtual reality gaming, but when compared to that of Earth, they fell short.
He wasn’t really concerned about how Emily was going to react if she saw him drive the Lamborghini Urus...
He was more concerned about the license at that point.
After contemplating for a while, he came up with an idea.
Ryan picked up the phone and dialed a number.
"Hello. This must be Mister Tony Lincoln, yes?"
"Yes! That’s absolutely right. Mister Ryan, this is you! You know, we are making preparations for the wed..."
"Mister Tony, I’m going to need your favor," Ryan immediately interrupted without thinking twice.
"Oh... Uhhh... Sure, Mister Ryan."
"I need a driver’s license secured before evening. I’m not going to be available enough to take the training, so I want it done with your help," Ryan said.
"That’s a minor task, Mister Ryan. Hehe. You are going to get it in hours. Trust me," Mister Tony announced confidently.
"I’ll be waiting," Ryan said before ending the call.
Beep!
The idea of escaping from conversations about the wedding had just appeared the moment Tony tried to bring it up.
It wasn’t like Ryan wasn’t interested anymore. It was simply because he believed that wasn’t the right moment to talk about it.
Emily was standing right at the side of the door, waiting to have a talk with him, and he didn’t want her to hear about it. Not exactly at this time.
"Emily," he called.
Emily folded her arms and came forward.
"I wanted to ask, Big Brother. Why exactly did you get me a car?"
"Because you are going to need it," he answered casually.
"For what exactly?" she asked. "We can always use yours when we want to go out."
Ryan clenched his lips.
"Makes sense. But what if we don’t get to go out together every time?" he asked.
"That’s... Not going to happen. I can’t go out without you, Big Brother. You know that," Emily said with a serious look on her face.
"Soon, you will be," Ryan smiled at her.
"And why?" Emily folded her arms again, this time with a glare. It’s been years since she made that face.
Asthma was probably not taking hold of her then.
"Because you are getting a driver who’s also going to be your personal security," Ryan responded.
"And why would I need that when I have you?" Emily’s face darkened.
But then Ryan stood up, heaved a long sigh, and placed both hands on her shoulders.
"Because you are going back to school, Emily."
The moment she heard that, her face completely changed, as a collection of several memories came hitting her brain.
"School..." She looked at him.
"I’m going back to school?"
"Yes," Ryan nodded while smiling.
At that point, she didn’t know how to properly react, and soon she turned emotional, while immediately throwing herself at him.
A wet hug was what it was, and Ryan welcomed it so sincerely.
’Hey, Ryan. Wherever you are, your sister is slowly getting what you wished.’
