Transmigrated as the Villain Boss's Precious Darling
Chapter 633: Growing Disdain
"Um... uh... Here, sweetie, eat this shrimp."
Felix Thorne looked awkward, unsure how to explain such a messy situation. He just peeled a shrimp and popped it into his daughter’s mouth. In his heart, though, he was completely against this marriage. ’There’s no way a promiscuous woman like her can marry into our family.’
"I’m going to tell Mom! Tell that hussy not to even bother coming over tomorrow. Marrying her would be the ruin of this family!"
Phoebe Huxley was hot-tempered and about to go speak to Raina without even finishing her dinner. She would absolutely not have that kind of hussy as a sister-in-law.
"Let’s wait and see tomorrow. We’ll let Tang Xiaonan get a good look at the woman. What if it’s not her? We shouldn’t wrongly accuse an innocent person," Felix Thorne said, thinking more carefully. After all, Tang Xiaonan had only given a vague description, and they couldn’t just accuse someone recklessly.
"Sweetie, do you still remember what your future aunt looked like?" Felix Thorne asked.
"I remember."
Tang Xiaonan nodded. ’It’s definitely her, Beatrice. There’s no doubt about it.’
In the end, Phoebe Huxley didn’t go speak to Raina, as she was also worried about wrongly accusing an innocent girl. After a restless night, the day of the blind date finally came. Raina was busy at the crack of dawn and even had Phoebe Huxley come over to help. She had prepared everything—melon seeds, peanuts, and candies—and the house was scrubbed spotless. Raina even took out the Yuqian tea that had been picked this year.
"Mom, listen. The night before last, Tang Xiaonan actually dreamed about Goldie’s wife. I don’t know if it’s about the one coming today, but it wasn’t a good dream."
Phoebe Huxley couldn’t hold it in any longer and decided to let Raina in on it. It had been torture for her to keep it bottled up for a whole night; she felt like she would burst if she didn’t say something.
"What do you mean, ’not good’? Is she in poor health? Is Goldie going to become a widower?" Raina’s first reaction was to assume Beatrice was fated for an early death.
"No, that’s not it. The woman’s a hussy! She messes around with other men. Tang Xiaonan saw it all in her dream."
Phoebe Huxley blurted out everything Tang Xiaonan had said the night before. "Felix said we can’t wrongly accuse someone, so we’ll have Tang Xiaonan take a look at the girl later. If she’s the one from the dream, we absolutely cannot approve this marriage."
Raina’s face fell instantly. She despised seductive flirts more than anything. If Beatrice really was the hussy from her granddaughter’s dream, she would of course refuse the match. Moreover, after what Phoebe Huxley had said, when Raina looked at Beatrice’s photo again, she thought she could see a flirtatious air about her, no matter how she examined it. ’How did I not notice that a couple of days ago?’
"Look here. Don’t her eyes look just like a fox’s? And that smile... it’s so seductive. No wonder Goldie is so utterly enchanted."
The more Raina looked, the more disgusted she became. She was now certain that Beatrice was the woman from her granddaughter’s dream and was tempted to call the whole thing off immediately. Just one more glance at the hussy made her feel nauseous.
"She doesn’t look like a respectable woman to me, either. In fact, she looks a little like Phoenix Golding," Phoebe Huxley said, curling her lip in undisguised contempt.
The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law exchanged a look. Even if Beatrice wasn’t the woman from Tang Xiaonan’s dream, they had already taken a disliking to her. From any angle, she didn’t look like the type to live a quiet, respectable life.
"We’ll have Goldie meet the other two candidates later. For today, we’ll be polite to this one and then just say we didn’t think it was a good match," Raina said, having made up her mind.
"What if Goldie doesn’t agree? Wasn’t it love at first sight for him?" Phoebe Huxley asked, concerned.
"He doesn’t get a say in this."
Raina’s tone was firm. A daughter-in-law had to have her approval; otherwise, she couldn’t dream of marrying into the Thorne family.
Goldie Thorne, however, had no idea that the bride he had his heart set on had already flown the coop. He had put on a crisp blue shirt, clipping a fountain pen in the breast pocket so the black cap showed—just like the intellectuals in the city did. He rolled his sleeves up slightly to reveal a gleaming Plum Blossom watch, a purchase he’d made in Tristone for over one hundred yuan.
