Chapter 632: Sabotaging the Blind Date

What truly destroyed the marriage was Beatrice’s infidelity. Goldie Thorne had gone to Tristone on business and taken Beatrice along. There, she ran into an old flame, that educated youth from the city. They were like dry tinder and a spark, and their affair ignited instantly.

One time, Goldie Thorne came home early and caught the shameless pair in the act. In a fit of rage, Goldie snapped, hacking the man until he was crippled and disfiguring Beatrice in the process.

And just like that, Goldie Thorne was sent to prison with a fifteen-year sentence. When the original owner of this body had her accident, Goldie Thorne still hadn’t been released.

’This woman is a walking disaster. She absolutely cannot be allowed to marry into the Thorne family. I can’t let her ruin Uncle Goldie again.’

’But Uncle Goldie has already fallen for her at first sight. How am I going to stop this?’

"Why aren’t you eating? Isn’t shrimp your favorite? Are you feeling unwell?"

Phoebe Huxley felt Tang Xiaonan’s forehead. It was a normal temperature, which put her somewhat at ease.

Tang Xiaonan shook her head and said glumly, "Momma, I dreamed about Uncle Goldie and my new auntie last night."

"Your Uncle Goldie isn’t married yet. What new auntie are you talking about?" Phoebe Huxley said with a laugh, not thinking much of it.

Jim Thorne piped up, "Uncle Goldie is getting a wife soon! Grandma says she’s coming for the matchmaking meeting tomorrow. She’s from Aeridor Village, and she’s not good-looking at all."

’The one I picked out was much prettier. Uncle Goldie must be blind.’

Phoebe Huxley’s interest was immediately piqued. "Aeridor Village? What does she do? Does she have a job?"

"She’s a temp at the textile factory, and her dad is the village accountant." Jim Thorne had clearly gotten all the information.

The moment Phoebe Huxley heard this, she knew the match was practically a done deal. Her mother-in-law always favored families with good backgrounds, the girl had a job, and Goldie himself liked her. It was a sure thing. She looked at Tang Xiaonan and said with a smile, "You’re such a little psychic, sweetie. We just mention a matchmaking meeting, and you’re already dreaming about it. What did your new auntie look like in the dream?"

"A pointy chin, two braids, big eyes, a small mouth..."

Tang Xiaonan casually listed the features. Jim Thorne had described what Beatrice looked like to her yesterday, and besides, the author had described her in the book. With every detail she gave, Jim Thorne slapped the table and nodded along. "Yeah, yeah, that’s exactly what she looks like!"

Phoebe Huxley chuckled. "It looks like your Uncle Goldie’s marriage is meant to be. Our little sweetie even dreamed of it."

Tang Xiaonan’s brow furrowed even deeper. Felix Thorne noticed something was off and asked her gently, "Did this new auntie scold you in the dream?"

"She was yelling at Uncle Goldie, and they were fighting."

The smile on Phoebe Huxley’s face froze. "What was she yelling?"

Even though she couldn’t stand Goldie Thorne’s devil-may-care attitude, Phoebe Huxley’s loyalty was always to family, right or wrong. She naturally began to feel a sense of dissatisfaction toward Beatrice.

Tang Xiaonan shook her head. "I couldn’t hear very well. And Uncle Goldie was fighting with my new auntie because she was sleeping with some other uncle."

The room instantly fell silent. The expressions on Felix and Phoebe Huxley’s faces turned grim. Jim Thorne, only half-understanding what was being said, sensed the mood had soured. He lowered his head, focused on his food, and kept quiet.

The brothers Howard Thorne and Patrick Thorne were away at school in town and only came back on weekends.

Tang Xiaonan asked innocently, "Daddy, if my new auntie was sleeping with that other uncle, why did Uncle Goldie get into a fight?"
