Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year
Chapter 447 - 445: Mrs. Fairchild, Please Keep It Up
Ten minutes later...
Evan Fairchild turned and walked to the car, instructing Tommy, "Take care of this."
"Yes, sir," Tommy replied respectfully.
Evan Fairchild pulled open the car door, sat in the driver’s seat, and glanced back at the young woman in the back. She had already fallen asleep under his jacket.
He quickly started the car and drove away.
Only then did Tommy walk over to Keith Coleman.
"Quick! Help me up and take me to Caleb White’s! President Fairchild was brutal today. I think I might be crippled!"
Tommy helped Keith Coleman up and shook his head. "After a beating like that, you think you’ll finally learn your lesson? Spreading rumors about the boss, of all people."
"I... What did I even say? I drank too much, and then I got beaten up. My brain’s not working right now."
"First, you took Mrs. Fairchild drinking. Second, you spread a rumor that the boss has a girlfriend, causing Mrs. Fairchild to misunderstand. And third, you called the boss a scumbag."
Keith Coleman: ...
"Is it a miracle I’m still breathing?"
"It is."
...
Melody Monroe woke up to a sharp, stabbing pain in her head.
Suddenly, a large hand wrapped around her waist, pulling her tightly into an embrace.
His warmth instantly made it a little hard for her to breathe.
"Headache?"
"Mhm," Melody Monroe nodded. Then, she suddenly realized something and her eyes shot open.
Her gaze met Evan Fairchild’s.
"Did I drive drunk?!"
"You did. You even got caught. I had to bail you out."
Melody Monroe shot upright. "I’m screwed! I’m so screwed!"
Evan Fairchild pulled her back into his arms. "Silly. If you’d really been caught driving drunk, you’d be serving your time before you got out." After speaking, he reached out and massaged her temples.
"Then how did you get back?" Melody Monroe asked, feeling a little guilty and not daring to look at his expression.
"Tommy picked me up."
"What about me?"
"I picked you up."
"If I really had a girlfriend, would you be that sad?" Evan Fairchild suddenly asked.
Melody Monroe froze for a moment, then slowly lifted her head. ’Why isn’t he angry?’
His question jogged her memory, and fragments of the night started coming back to her.
"No, that was all in the past. What right do I have to be upset about it?"
"You do."
Melody Monroe froze again.
"You’re my legal wife. Why wouldn’t you have the right to be upset?"
"Right now, how do you see our relationship?" Evan Fairchild asked another question before she could answer.
From Melody Monroe’s reaction yesterday, he had keenly sensed that she was truly lost and uncertain in her heart.
Just as she had said—thoughts like she wasn’t good enough for him.
Seeing her cry, seeing her feel so inferior, his heart had been fiercely pierced with pain.
"Will you only ever love me?"
"I will."
"I shouldn’t have listened to Keith Coleman’s nonsense. I was..." ’So petty, and so unreasonable.’
"I like it when you’re jealous. I like it when you get upset with me. I like that you have such a big reaction just from hearing those things. Mrs. Fairchild, from now on, please keep it up."
Melody Monroe stared at him blankly, unsure for a moment how she should react.
Suddenly, she threw herself into his arms.
Evan Fairchild held her tightly. "My darling, don’t love me so cautiously. I’m the same. I belong completely to you."
...
Melody Monroe took a special day off to spend at home with Evan Fairchild.
Autumn had arrived in Jansburg, bringing with it a hint of chill.
Barefoot, Melody Monroe sat in a rocking chair on the balcony. A cup of warm coffee rested beside her.
Evan Fairchild was in the kitchen preparing afternoon tea for her.
The scent of food drifted over from time to time.
A moment later, Evan Fairchild walked over, carrying an exquisite plate with a freshly baked chiffon cake on it.
