Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year
Chapter 433 - 431: A Genuine Marriage Certificate
There was medicine upstairs, which Caleb White had prepared just for this sort of situation.
Evan Fairchild gave Melody Monroe the medicine, and she fell asleep again.
Gazing at her innocent, sleeping face, he couldn’t help but smile.
"Since you want to marry me, I’ll grant your wish. That way, you can’t wake up and deny it again."
...
The ringing of a cell phone shattered the room’s silence.
Melody Monroe stretched a hand out from under the covers, grabbing her phone as it rang. It was her daily alarm.
"Ow!" A sharp pain lanced through her head, making her miserable.
Her body ached all over, too. This feeling... it was just like...
She immediately sat up, running a hand through her messy hair. Scenes from the day before flashed through her mind.
She’d gone to see Director Walsh, but then Evan Fairchild—who was supposed to be in Rockwellburg—had suddenly shown up! And he was investing in her drama series!
Any lingering sleepiness vanished completely.
’She had drinks with Evan Fairchild, but she couldn’t remember a single thing that happened afterward!’
The door opened, and Evan Fairchild walked in.
Seeing Melody Monroe sitting up in bed, he walked over and sat down in front of her. He gently took her chin in his hand, observing her closely.
"Mr. Fairchild, what are you looking at?" Melody Monroe pushed his hand away, still struggling to remember what had happened the day before.
"Looks like you’ve recovered. The allergic reaction hasn’t worsened. And you’re speaking clearly."
"Allergic reaction? Did I have a reaction to alcohol again yesterday?" Melody Monroe hurriedly felt her chin and wiggled her tongue. The numbness was gone.
"You should avoid drinking so much in the future."
"You were the one who wanted to drink yesterday. I was just keeping you company," Melody Monroe retorted under her breath. "I can’t remember anything that happened."
"You got drunk, so I brought you home."
"That’s it?"
"And we took care of this while we were at it." Evan Fairchild produced two small, red booklets.
"Marriage certificates?" Melody Monroe took them curiously. "Whose are they?"
The moment she flipped one open and saw a photo of herself and Evan Fairchild, she was utterly stunned! The booklet in her hand listed her as the official holder!
She quickly opened the other one—the holder was Evan Fairchild!
Marriage certificates!?
"This... This has to be fake, right?" Melody Monroe refused to believe it.
"Yesterday, you were clinging to me, insisting that we get married. You wouldn’t let go. You were crying and screaming that you wanted to marry me."
"Where did I do something like that?" Melody Monroe asked hastily.
"At home."
’Thank God, thank God! At least I didn’t do it in public!’
Staring at the two red booklets in her hands, her mind was a complete mess.
’Is this real?’
’It can’t be!’
Evan Fairchild took back both marriage certificates. "I’ll hold onto these. Happy wedding, Mrs. Fairchild!"
Melody Monroe: ...
Even now, she felt like her marriage to Evan Fairchild was all a dream, that none of it was real.
’Who am I? Where am I? What am I doing?’
’It’s fake. I’m probably not even awake yet!’
Melody Monroe flopped back onto the bed and squeezed her eyes shut.
Watching her, Evan Fairchild breathed a quiet sigh of relief. It seemed she wasn’t rejecting the idea, but she also wasn’t nearly as happy as he was.
A minute later, Melody Monroe’s eyes snapped open.
She had finally accepted it. This was reality, not a dream.
’I’m really married to Evan Fairchild! We’re a legally married couple.’
"Can I see our marriage certificates again?"
"Of course." Evan Fairchild placed both certificates back in Melody Monroe’s hands.
Melody Monroe opened the certificates and read every single word.
After she finished reading every word, she suddenly threw herself into Evan Fairchild’s arms.
