Chapter 73. Clash Between Human & Demon
Chapter 73: 73. Clash Between Human & Demon
The open mile of ground between the two armies stayed completely quiet for several long seconds.
Dust drifted low across the packed earth.
The blue mana barrier above Grayhollow hummed in the background.
No one on either side moved beyond the small adjustments needed to keep formation.
Then one of the three demon commanders, the massive horned general at the head of the Red Horde, raised his voice in a rough shout that carried across the field.
"Hey human! I thought you guys were gonna surrender, but looking at that huge number of useless people you really wanna fight our demon army, huh!?"
He turned and barked an order toward his own ranks.
The front line of the Red Horde began to march forward at once, boots striking the ground in heavy unison as the spike-covered Hell-Boar under the general started to pick up speed.
On the human side Lily’s voice answered clearly from her position on the Warforged Titan.
"Hold the line! Archers, fire on my mark! Do not let them close the distance unchallenged!"
Along the wall bases and the rear points of the pentagon the archers released the huge arrows that had already been nocked.
"Fire now."
Lily said as the hundreds of arrows flew toward the demons.
The tips glowed with condensed mana as the shafts cut through the evening air toward the advancing demon rankers.
Thud
Thud
Thud
Hundreds of arrows arced high and fell in a dense rain.
Most of the Red Horde’s front fighters raised their clubs and hatchets in time, knocking them aside with sharp cracks of wood and metal.
A few were not fast enough.
One arrow punched clean through a crimson skull. Another sank deep into a thigh. A third took a fighter through the eye and dropped him mid-stride.
Bodies stumbled, but the charge did not break.
The three demon generals urged their mounts into a full run.
The Hell-Boar lowered its spiked head and pounded straight ahead, tusks aimed at the human center.
On the left the skinless Gloom-Stalker bounded in long, silent leaps, six legs carrying the cambion general across the open ground with unnatural speed.
On the right the Brimstone Charger spat embers as it galloped, obsidian scales flashing while the scarred warlord guided it toward the human flank.
The human brawlers answered at once.
Shields locked and heavy boots drove forward to meet the charge.
At the same moment the three Warforged Titans under Lily, Mira, and Lina surged ahead.
Their plated bodies shook the earth with every stride. Long horns lowered.
Lily’s voice cut through the rising noise again.
"Release the chains! Let’s take out the generals first!"
Four rankers near the Titans moved with practiced speed, striking the heavy locks free.
The remaining two Titans, the riderless one and the one where Amber was stayed in reserve while the freed beasts and the chosen fighters sprinted toward the three demon commanders.
Amber remained on her own Titan, eyes fixed on the battlefield.
Her attention stayed mainly on the lesser dragon circling high above, where Envy sat motionless and watched the human lines with particular focus on the direction of the blond ranker and the girls around him as she remebered her queen’s word to not let anything happen to her family.
From the demon right flank the Heartseekers finally loosed their own volley.
Black-mana arrows streaked low and fast across the open ground, the dark energy trailing behind each shaft like thin smoke as they sought the gaps in the human formation.
Most of the black arrows slammed into the front-line shields and bounced away with hard metallic rings.
A few found openings. One shaft punched through a young ranker’s neck.
His friend beside him stared for half a second, face white.
"Shit. Shit. Shit."
The next arrow took him through the chest before he could finish the third word.
He dropped without another sound.
The front lines of both armies crashed together in a rolling wall of noise and force.
Human brawlers met the Red Horde head-on.
Shields took the first impact of iron clubs and hatchets.
CLANK!
Wood cracked. Metal rang. Men and demons went down in the first seconds, blood spraying across the ground as the two sides pushed against each other with pure strength.
Spears found gaps between armor plates.
Clubs smashed helmets flat.
The wet sound of blades cutting flesh mixed with the shouts of the living and the short, cut-off cries of the dying.
Dean drove forward near the center of the brawler line, heavy plate absorbing a club strike before he answered with a full-powered punch that smashed the demons face into a bloody mist.
Ryn moved beside him with shorter, faster steps, the tip of his sword glowing faintly as he slipped past a hatchet and buried the blade under a demon’s ribs.
The two of them cut a temporary gap in the enemy front, forcing several Fleshlings to step back.
On the left edge of the clash several pale lavender-blue lesser succubi from the Mindbreakers raised glowing hands.
Thin waves of violet pressure rolled outward.
Three human brawlers closest to them staggered, eyes glazing over.
Their weapons lowered.
Slurp~Slurp~
One by one they dropped to their knees and began licking the smooth legs of the nearest succubi, faces blank under the mental hold as they opened their pants to free their dicks without stopping the licking motion.
While taking the chance, some demons with club smashed their back while their hands remained on the lifeless dick.
SPURT!
As drop of blood spattered on some succubi, they shouted in annoyance saying they don’t need to be killed. They’ll die anyway after some moments.
High on the wall bases the human archers reloaded the massive integrated bows.
Fresh mana-tipped arrows locked into place and flew in a second dense volley.
The Heartseekers answered at once without caring about the humans who licked them obsessively while jerking their small cocks.
Black-mana shafts met the blue-mana arrows in mid-air.
The two energies collided with sharp, heavy explosions that lit the darkening sky in brief flashes of conflicting light and scattered broken shafts across both armies.
On the ground the sounds of the battle blended into one continuous roar: the heavy clink of sword against club, the wet tear of flesh, the sharp crack of bone, and the raw panting of hundreds of fighters locked in close combat.
Lily guided her Titan straight into the path of the Hell-Boar and its horned general.
Mira’s beast charged the Gloom-Stalker and the cambion who rode it.
Lina’s Titan collided with the Brimstone Charger and the scarred warlord.
All three pairs locked into open combat at once, the ground shaking under the weight of the mounts.
A red-skinned Oni moved through the chaos at a slower pace.
One arm ended at the elbow having lost his left forearm during his chaotic retreat from the West Dungeon.
The remaining hand held a length of heavy chain that trailed behind him like a living thing.
A dark cloak covered most of his head and shoulders, but his pure black eyes stayed fixed on the Warforged Titan that carried Kael and the girls.
Human rankers tried to intercept him twice.
Each time the chain snapped forward with a sharp whistle and opened a clean line across a throat.
The bodies fell without slowing him.
Kael watched the blood begin to soak the ground on both sides.
The raw smell of it reached him even from the height of Amber’s Titan.
A low wave of nausea rolled through his stomach.
This was the first time he had seen real battle up close.
He looked toward his daughter Eira who was shaking like a leaf showing clear terror on her face.
He pulled Eira tighter against his chest and turned her face inward.
"Don’t look, Eira. Close your eyes."
Eira’s small hands gripped the front of his chainmail.
She was frightened by the bloody display.
’So many people are dying. I don’t want Dad or Sister to get hurt.’
Brianna stood close on the same plated back.
She pressed the soft weight of her green breasts against Kael’s arm while she watched the field, the contact deliberate and possessive as she glanced at how tightly Eira clung to him.
Seraphine stood a short step away, crimson eyes fixed on the shifting lines below, studying every movement without flinching.
Mira faced the cambion general who rode the skinless Gloom-Stalker.
Her short blue dress left her mature figure clear under the fading light, thighs and the upper curves of her breasts visible as she shifted her weight on the Titan’s back.
Both hands closed around the small axe at her waist. Pale blue mana gathered along the edge of the blade until the metal glowed.
The general pulled a long metal club studded with thick spikes from his side.
Grayish mana coated the weapon in a dull sheen.
The Gloom-Stalker and Mira’s Titan closed the last stretch of ground between them.
Mira did not wait for the beasts to collide.
She leaped from the Titan’s back with both hands still locked on the axe, body arcing high as she aimed the glowing axe at the general’s head.
The cambion’s mouth curved into a smirk. He swung the spiked club upward to meet the descending axe.
The two weapons met with a deep, ringing impact that rolled across the open field.
BOOOOM
A sharp wind blade exploded outward from the point where the axe and club struck.
The invisible force cut through the demons standing behind the general in a clean, horizontal line. Bodies split.
Blood and severed limbs sprayed across the dirt.
Several of the nearest Red Horde fighters dropped without even understanding what had hit them.
Kael stared at the sudden gap that had opened in the enemy ranks.
Seraphine’s eyes widened a fraction.
Even Brianna paused. Amber’s expression remained unchanged, calm and measuring as always.
Kael’s thought settled slowly as he watched Mira land and reset her stance.
’I thought she was just a receptionist. Behind that breedable plump figure a terrifying fighter was hiding the whole time.’
